The amount of things he manages to collect and forget about overtime make me imagine that Ashens has a warehouse full of this shit, like one at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
I've always been fascinated by all these franchises that some marketing people thought were going to be the next big thing, but all died on their arse. Such a shame.
I remember Huntik when it was on Saturday mornings here in the US. It was a fun globe-trotting adventure show with a battling monsters twist. Kind of Indiana Jones meets Yu-Gi-Oh. I know that might not sound impressive, but it was fun. I think it only got one season here in the States. I think the show was originally from Italy or something, so I don't know how long it lasted elsewhere.
Kevin McNally played Gibbs in that movie. Matt Hatter Chronicles was indeed a CGI series that was a Canadian-UK co-production with the voices being recorded in the UK, including kids TV presenter; Dave Benson Phillips. The show lasted from 2011-2015 amazingly enough. That wave you got was probably a later one, which would explain a lack of a Matt Hatter figure. Huntik: Secrets and Seekers was an Italian-American co-produced series that lasted from 2009-2012.
Ashens not only mentioning Guilty Gear but also confusing it with Jojo I think is one of the best things I've heard today. I son't mean that in a mean spirited way, it really just made me smile.
Huntik was amazing! Well, to my 12 year old mind at least. They had these creatures that came out of jewellery (medallions, rings etc.) or some old artifacts. They also had some sort of magic powers, which as you've noticed, weren't very well represented in the figures. Not to mention the awesome theme song! I suggest you look it up.
I'd only heard of Huntik due to Poundland too - like you with the box of packs of Slingers, I once found a fairly large stock of boxes of Huntik trading card booster packs. Gave them my pound for a box of them, opened all the packs at home, gasped in awe at all of the monsters, got bored and lost them soon after. Marvellous.
Every time I see the "everything must go" intro, I expect Ashen's eyes to look directly at me before he says "including _you_" Because that seems like something he might do.
If he realized it sooner, I think he would actually have shown some interest in the concept. If I was 10, I would have been into those...better than Mighty Beans or whatever.
It seems obvious to me that you throw that ting like a Yo-Yo at the disks on the ground, and thats the only permitted way to pick up the disks. Thats just me though, im dumb as shit quite often lol.
I actually used to watch Huntik (on like 4kids or something like that) the show was pretty ok imo always wondered if they would make figures an i guess they did just never saw them around here (US)
Oh the memories, shows like 'Huntik' and 'Matt Hatter' aired in the UK on CITV about 5-6 years ago at around 7am weekdays. These were how I spent my time before school :D
Ashens. Your like an old dad who cannot tell the obvious. Everyone watching was like "you throw the magnet ball at the disks, and it springs back on the string!!!" but it took you 5 mins to figure it out. :D PS, I want to watch that monster hunting cartoon now... but only as a version re-enacted by Ashens using those figures! :D
I see the Matt Hatter toys in my shop quite a bit but the one figure I want, Phibeous the fishman fellow, is never in stock. I had the same problem with the Secret Saturdays' Owlman figure. Such a neat design.
Huntik was the best show ever. Perfect for a kid like me who was really into mythology. The characters also felt more real, and not as obnoxious as cartoon characters usually are.
That magnetic thing is by Upper Deck! I used to collect their basketball cards. I am in the UK so that is even weirder... But yeah... Basketball was big in our school lol.
The story goes that several U.K. Stores were convinced by an over enthusiastic sales rep that the Matt Hatter chronicles were going to be the next big thing. The series flopped badly and big department stores used them to keep their pegs warm.
the slingers sound like something I would've loved as a kid. hell, I could probably have fun with them now. Then again, I can also see my brother using them as a projectile.
So I see people talking about Huntik, but not Matt Hatter - never heard of the former but watched the latter when I was younger. One thing I do remember is that Doc Fossil was an evil paleontologist who could bring dinosaur fossils to life and he was pretty cool.
I actually like the Slingers toy. Interesting mechanisms and a pretty solidly put together peripheral. Maybe if it was sold in America or Japan, where pointless trading games are all the rage, it would have taken off. Toys from Simba?! Somebody contact Phelous! We have his next MMZ episode! Be glad you didn't see the fourth pirates of the caribbean. Honestly I quite liked the first three but if you want to talk about dismal, look no further than the fourth one. My god it was horrible
On June 21, 1879, Frank Winfield Woolworth opened his first successful five-cent store in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Inflation soon made it more practical to become a "five and dime" store. The five-and-dime survived almost to the modern era, even though 5 and 10 cent items ceased to me a mainstay of these stores many decades before, although the great depression of the 1930s gave the name iconic status for a time. The dollar store, or pound store is a revival of that concept; first appearing in the late 80s, these stores made a fortune selling items that cost less than a dollar (sometimes far less) particularly since the appearance of cheap offshore imports. Department stores and others often sold the same items, but often at much higher prices, simply because they thought they could, and in many cases, they could. However, the dollar store opened up a new market niche, which had not existed before, at least not in the literal price range of a dollar (or a pound). We are already seeing "$1+" stores, "$1-2," and even "$5 stores," although I've seen this concept fail miserably in my neighborhood. The concept may have seemed sound, but the perception was that it's the same old $1 stock, overpriced a $5. Too much, too soon I suppose. If anyone thinks I've plagiarized this bit, you're insulting my writing ability. Hope you enjoyed it.
I'm not an expert on Greek and Roman mythology, but I think there are a couple minor differences between Ares and Mars, at least in terms of myths and how they were viewed. Not enough to warrant having separate characters of them, but I think Mars was viewed more favorably by the Romans than Ares was by the Greeks, and his traits in myth may have been more in line with the ideals of an honorable warrior for the Romans, while Ares was sometimes rather crude, cruel, merciless, and paranoid.

Cool series of figures that, I'd have been very happy with that back in my action figure days. I like how the Huntik villain's name is Defoe, presumably because The Bad Guy was a bit too on the nose.

Dormammu Or a cheap version of Charles Foster Kane
Or a man with a secret hording problem
XD I wouldnt be suprised if he had a warehouse like that
Or at the beginning of the one which doesn't exist
Ashens utterly baffled by a yo-yo with a magnet on the end of it.
YES¬!
Every time I come back to this, I end up screaming, ITS A YOYO!
This is my favorite ashens vid because of that
@@DevinGates There's even a picture of it in action in the instructions! Seems like a great way to launch metal discs into your or others faces.

nice to see your'e still alive.
"Matt Hatter is the next Harry Potter!" is definitely a phrase that was said at some point during a meeting.

David315842 Wow an actual useful youtube comment.
Who would have thought?
Further detail (from personal memories): They were broadcast on CITV ( Children's ITV) in the UK around about 2012-ish
I would love to see somebody rip those shows apart by reviewing them.
Tide is still one of the most popular clothes detergent in america mate
Yes but ashens does not live in america
no shit sherlock
Tide is so popular over here, that they are being used as a currency in some drug deals.
I wonder why we still get it though but the UK doesn't. doesn't seem like something that would be affected that much by regional differences...
Seraph Only in the RUclips comments section would you have somebody coming to the defense of laundry detergent. haha

Of course he's an enemy. His name is "Da Foe."
Also, I don't think New Boy can hold a candle to Oldboy.
You're supposed to SLING it like a goddamn yo-yo. It's called the SLINGER. cmon ashens do you really need detailed instructions for that
Yes, he does pick up on that in the video.

Eh, it's subjective. From the sounds of how Ashens was reacting to the whole concept, I don't think he would have been interested.
