I have alot of Questions? My wife wants a three bedroom two bedroom. Big kitchen and living area are there any blue prints. I can look at to get ideas.
What about underground storage? Placing them against a south exposed slope, with a partial exposed storage room attached...one of the smaller units for food ? Or for other uses. Southern Exposure is excellent for heating...dark metal will warm up due to the exposure to the Sun. Deciduous trees in front will keep it cool in Summer. Makes a nice summer home or rental units for short term use.
One cannot build or even place a shipping container on the property without first obtaining a building permit There are tons of websites expounding about shipping containers but nobody talks about the required plans that will be needed in order to get a permit to build a shipping container house. You cannot get a permit with just a floor plan
Are there building codes preventing these, and is there a list of where they are not allowed? Also, how can they be roofed or sided? And, is there any safety in a tornado, what do they weigh ? Could these help people who live in tornado prone areas? I think they can also make interesting businesses. And container stores out there?????
Well if you are framing out the container walls & you said that we don't won't to puncher the walls..! Being that they are water-proof. So how do we attach studs & frame-work..... Thanis

You attached it by rivets to the metal corner/side frames.. But trust me never used regular home contractors to built. Go to experienced container home builder, there are many near major ports. But its more complicated than that, bcos they usually built offices. And they are very expensive..
The cost of 2 new or one trip 40' containers compared to building a 20' x 30' shed doesnt add up, by the time you spend man hours cutting and welding, simply buy shed 20' x 32' kit and build it, or a American Barn 30' x 30', concrete is cheap to order, just need a couple of friends to help pour and level it, about $1000 for concrete, another $12K for the 20 x 30 kit, $15500 for the American Barn kit, then its up to you how you want to finish the internals. Ive seen people do the build for $15K complete for the 20' x 30' shed, and $20K for the Barn, they end up with a 2/3 bedroom, living area, kitchen and bathroom home, obviously when going off grid high end finishes are not necessary, but if you are someone who needs granite benchtops and a designer kitchen/bathroom, then build a proper house.
currently I'm living in the UK , for my shipping container home I was thinking 2 floors , ground floor would be - kitchen , bath , garage and other room , for the second floor I was thinking of converting it into master bedroom and part of a attic for storage then it leads out to a Decked wooden pattio would I need planing permission / regulations for the second floor?
They dont work in any climate, the thick metal wall absorb and radiate massive heat. So you hv to add lots of insulation, making the space smaller in the the already, tiny space. Not including electrical wiring n water pipes.. Container home is a scam pls beware, I suggest watching other more honest video about the scam. B4 u regret it n waste your money..
im interested in building a container home also... any tips on the financial side... how or where did you get a builders loan.. any info will be appreciated...!
I feel like it would! They withstand the ever changing climates that they pass through (on boats, railroads, trucks, etc.). They honestly seem more sturdy than a traditional home, imo. Cheers to your shopping container ventures!
Do you know is there any place allowed to build Container Home in Ontario, Canada? I am looking for some kind of land in Ontario, so we can able to build our Container Home.
A few things. The walls need to be insulated with closed cell spray foam because of condensation that will cause mold. 2x2 studs is not enough to run your electrical properly and have enough insulation to provide sufficient r value. 2x4s should be used for framing but cannot be attached to corrugation with anything but glue. The 2x4 s are attached to bottom plate screwed into the floor and the top plate is screwed into the steel beam that runs along the top from corner to corner.
Not everyone lives in a cold climate. In the tropics, condensation is not a big issue. With that good weather thermal mass insulation is all you need. Electrical wiring should run through heavy gauge 20mm or 25mm conduits, they have nothing to do with studs perse.
It depends on where or when, quality, new/used.. Price fluctuate wildly from 1k to 10k. But it you know the total contruction cost, its the least of your concern. Tot cost can be as high as 100-200k.. Container home is no saving, if anything its make the cost higher than traditional home n very impractical. Unless you live in a plc w optimum weather, you will not like it. Its purely aesthetic..
20 foot containers are priced roughly the same as 40 foot ones. The only real difference is the size, which will obviously necessitate more materials, such as insulation and plasterboard and the like. If you opt for the 40 foot shipping container(s) you will spend more on these things than you would if the 20 foot container was your container of choice. You would also spend more money laying a foundation, as a bigger building is obviously gonna need a bigger foundation. Another dependant variable is how many containers you plan on using, as more containers means more money being spent on materials and digging and constructing a foundation. For such extraordinary architecture, there really is no one size fits all medium. In fact, one size doesn’t even fit all if you’re building your house with bricks and concrete like a normal person, much less with bloody shipping containers.
CONTAINER HOME IS A SCAM.. Dont blv anything at all about container home, if you hv never tried it.. Its impractical, expensive & not enviromentally friendly.. Most of these are just RUclips gimmicks, unless you are using it just as a temporary in construction site office or purely aesthetic design. - Containers are not meant for living, its space becomes smaller especially if you hv to add electrical wiring, water piping n insulation? Its better n cheaper to built tiny home from traditional materials. - If you cut into its wall or corners, you compromise its structural integrity needing massive reinforcement that is expensive n impractical. - Old used containers are health hazzard, they could hv been used to transport dangerous material/chemical that might contaminate the wooden floors. So you usually use brand new containers. Its only suitable for commercial store, for its aesthetic look, but with high renov cost..

Is there a registry or list somewhere?
No registry at the moment. Kindly go for referrals from people who have built in your neighborhood or county.

What is the best entry point for stairs for a two level container house.

We do not sell. We only sell floor plans from our website, sheltermode.com.

Did you ever get any answers?
It’s up to each county building department, whether they allow them or not, not many do.
They can be welded to a foundation, like a basement or concrete posts and they likely would be safer than a house.

Most building projects require approval from the authorities. Kindly check out with your local country for details.
Would this work in tropical climates? Would they rust? And would they retain a lot of heat and be difficult to keep cool?
The steel in shipping containers will rust, but are designed not to rot

Why not. Remember to consult a structural engineer for professional advice.

Can you give a ballpark total for cost from start to finish?
Cost vary from region to region. If you can manage 100-150 USD PER SQUARE FOOT in the USA, that's a bargain.
What’s the average cost to build out a container home?
Io vorrei vedere bei colori che o visto tanto belli i colori

The container is not 40 feet high, that is the length. It's approximately 9 feet high/tall, 7'8" wide, not a cube, but a long rectangle.
