Rick James and The Mary Jane Girls had the dopest outfits ever 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. A win win situation ..........
Saw him in concert when Fire It Up was released. Incredible!!! One of my favorite artists from the period.
Loved Prince and Rick James albums from the 80's.
"Bustin' out of L 7", "Throwin' Down", "Freak Flag", "Wonderful", "Fire it Up"- criminally out of print
One of my favorite all time Rick James classics.
Who remembers real horns? This band is back on tour today. What your hearing is the difference a band of musicians can bring. Energy! Music was created with multiple minds back then. Now it's one or two trying to think and play everything. There's a difference in quality and ideas
This was pure funky dang Rick let me drop like it's hot good request & request 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
King Rick 👑💯💥
Rick was great with ballads. Great training from Motown in the early years. His uncle was one of the Temptations. Just Jammin, you need to read his book! ✔️
Funnily enough, I wasn’t really into Rick back in the day.
But I am NOW! 😎🔥💕
Slick Rick, yeah, I love that guy, have all his albums.
Why can't we have music like this anymore? This is smoking hot!
Animal House, maybe if we complain hard enuff we can get this music back. But who out here gonna perform like Rick James? NOBODY........ 😳
@@zenaaubrey2701 A sad truth.
@@SirHilaryManfat truth cause Rick James put in way over 100% on his performances
His behavior did not overshadow his talent. People who put value on some actions without being in those shoes are ASSumers. Rick is a package. Punk Funk bad boy! His art always changed. He was in competition with Prince. Purple Rain was his 7th album.
Sounds too much like my house, but Rick James did have a genius that the some of his behavior over shadowed .
LOL, knowing Rick James, that's not a cigarette he's smoking on his album cover! Love Rick James!!!
FUNK MASTERPIECE
PUNK FUNK FOREVER!!
The Absolute dopest album covers💝🤩😎very accurate analysis of his genius✨👍🏿
Don't you miss looking at the album covers to me was nothing but pure art form. I would always look at my mom album covers as kid and my would yell at me she didn't want mess with her records. And please don't break her records oooh Chile that was my but....lol 🤣🤣
@@wakeupstopsleeping6300 yes ma’am🥰😍we use to spread them over the living rom floor when we were playing records for hours☺️😊those were the best of times for sho✨👍🏿
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Many compared Rick to Prince and there was a kind of rivalry fueled by the pressures of the business. However, Rick and Prince were two totally different artists. Rick's stuff was rooted more in an jazz-funk R&B thang. Prince was an ecclectic rocker with more of a psychedelic inflection to his funk. Both were brilliant artists but drove in vastly different lanes if you really listen to their work.
🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾
Got the beat & the funk in triplicate here! The album cover is dope, which means that I don't think that he is smoking a cigarette!🔥🎸🔥Great song request & great reaction.👍
LOL...I almost choked when he said "smoking on a cigarette".
@@tafkap01 That is true for me too!
This song is a Jammer
There's also a killer live version on The Expanded version of "Street Songs", at The Long Beach Auditorium. Interesting also, this was being pushed after the so-called demise of the P-Funk empire, that Motown Records slid in. George Clinton's lawsuits, among other things, sidelined him until, The Atomic Dog.... Actually, the studio version, as is here, far superior. Some of the instruments weren't either properly miced and / or mixed as well in the live version. Thanks for the opportunity to share...☺️
You have got to do glow.
