This song is one of my favorite from this time period. Rick is a legend. They made a remic to this with Busta Rhythms in the 2000s.

Street Songs was an awesome album. For me me I was working a summer job before 9th grade in Newark painting apartments and remember hearing “Ghetto Life” playing in the background. Summer in the hood✊🏾
In Rick best songs, he was going to have outstanding female background singers, he was going to have a Danny blow the Sax, and he was going to kill the vocals.
This was one of many (classics) from the King of Punk Funk. On this classic he hired bass singer Melvin Franklin of the Temptations to lend his voice on this track.
Hearing this on GTA Vice City was life changing 🐐

Wore this album out back in 81 when i bought it, this was my favorite song of the album! You gotta do the BarKays next, check out these songs, Move your boogie body, Hit and run, Do it, She talks to me with her body, and Freak show on the dance floor, they got alot more good stuff but i think you will enjoy these.

Dude, Hip Hop wasn’t even a thing yet! It was considered underground music, a sideshow to people outside of NY. MC Hammer used Super Freak without permission, but paid Rick handsomely for it. They both made out on that one. RIP Rick
