60 year old here. Playing for 7 yrs. With your help/videos I finally cracked 90. No big deal?right. To me it is. Seeing that I only broke 100 four times. Thanks. Can’t wait for the next lesson
This is one of many good videos. Its just not hitting a ball with a stick. Adam explains how to be a better student of the game. This video allows you to be a better student.
I would like to take a moment to thank you for your very clear and very helpful exposition of the use of fairway woods. This area of the game has been a real problem for me and the many videos I've seen on RUclips have generally been very contradictory and confusing. I look forward to seeing more from your channel.
Learning everyday from your teaching, only been in the game of golf 6 years but at 66 its nice to find someone who can teach an old dog some new tricks.
@michael brooks would you mind sending me a private message I have something to ask you? Go to the about page for my channel and click on "message". See this screenshot: screencast.com/t/GZ4mxmINyggr Thanks!
Splendid advice. Although I have made significant progress with my swing over the last couple of years, fairway woods have remained a problem. I've gotten around it a little by carrying a 7-wood with which I've been fairly consistent, although somewhat shorter. I will take your advice to the practice ground as I have with several of your videos. Thank you.
Very interesting video on a topic I need help with. It seems like you are saying that for a tight lie in the fairway you need forward lean to get the ball high because that allows you to hit higher on the face. I had always assumed that forward lean would result in lower trajectory because the face is delofted. Am I understanding your instruction correctly?
Glenn, Forward lean does make the ball go lower, but you need enough for solid contact, which is more on a tight lie. Again, you’ll lose some loft, but it’s worth it for solid contact. Thanks, Adam
What an eyeopener your videos are! I've never had these points explained to me in this way before...it just makes so much sense! Thank you sir. Off to the range I go :-)
It depends on the loft of club, and the lie (and also how low you want to hit the ball). For instance a 3 wood from a lie where ball is sitting up wouldn't need much de-loft, a 7 wood off tight lie would need more. Hope this helps. Best, Adam
You're a very smart man Adam! Another great video. Well done. Thanks again for your insight into "the game". I'm now draining easy Par shots, and getting lots of 10-30 foot birdie opportunities, mainly due to you! (and some of my persistent and calculated work on the range, and course). Plus many tap-in Bogies...Regards, Simon & son Teo, down at The Sands, Australia... and yes we have lots of sandy bunkers down here! :)
Thank you for this video clip. How can I use a hybrid to play a high shot about 120 to 150 yards? I appreciate if you can explain the set up ( wide or narrow) and the ball position.
Lionel, Not sure I'd do anything that different to a normal fairway wood shot. Maybe play the ball a little more forward (if the lie is good) to get some extra height. Stance width would not specifically affect height of shot. Naturally the more lofted hybrid you choose the higher the ball can potentially go. This, of course, depends on how far you can hit the ball. Summary, play the ball a little forward, then put a strong swing on it. Hope this helps. All the best, Ada.
Sean, 15 degrees is pretty standard for a 3 wood these days. It takes quite a bit of clubhead speed to get good height on it. You look young, but hopefully you'll get good results. All the best, Adam
can u pls upload a video showing how to hit the ball at equator or divots forming after the ball consistently for every club. I mean the perfect swing required for this kind of shot. Plssss
@@Scratchgolfacademy Thank you I played 5.0 tennis and am transferring as many feels as possible. Working getting that 3 wood fairway swing as loose and smooth as a serve. Be well!
Thanks once again for another excellent video, have been having trouble with getting my 3 wood sufficiently airborne on tighter fairway lies, will get this a try.
WTF…….come man, hit the damn ball! Words don’t make a golf ‘how to’ video. We need at least some visual. That was 10 mins I’ll never get back…..JEEEZ !
i am looking for downhill lies and up hill lies. and also i watch these videos and know what to do but when i get to play it seems i forget everything.
Sorry you didn't like the video. That said, regardless of what I say, or what you or anyone else thinks, without solid contact and decent speed the ball just isn't going to fly very high. No worries, best, Adam
Sorry it wasn't helpful for you Martin. My purpose in this video was to give people the facts as to what causes woods to go high, or lower. They can then practice and experiment to try and make progress. Best, Adam

Adam,
I went to the driving range today and after watching your "Stop Slicing" videos, my shots were straight today!
Really? I'm 7 minutes in and he's rambling about Jack Nicklaus and Payne Stewart I've yet to hear real tips and videos almost over. Worst video ever

I love this video...You really go into the right details. Do you reckon playing on cheap courses with sparse grass is hurting golfer's technique?
Thanks Ran. Regards sparse grass, it's not as easy, but you have to hit down on ball just a little more.

Is it advisable to tilt the fairway wood a little stronger before one hits the ball? (To hit the ball on the sweet spot?)
It depends on the loft of club, and the lie (and also how low you want to hit the ball). For instance a 3 wood from a lie where ball is sitting up wouldn't need much de-loft, a 7 wood off tight lie would need more.
