My 2019 X3 m40i has 57k on it, I bought it new. It's been rock solid so far. Just regular maintenance. Hasn't even needed brake pads yet, but I'm expecting that in the next year. I installed a JB4 years ago and it's been perfect.
I have a 2015 sdrive28i with 113k miles runs fantastic. Just drove from Tampa to move to Albuquerque. Cars a lil dirty rn but is a fantastic buy. I purchased back in 2019 for 15k now I have a paid off car. I've replaced my alternator, a couple hoses, 2x battery (the alternator killed one), and tires and brakes. Other than that and the usual top up of fluids etc it's never overheated and never broke down. I have an engine light because someone stole my gas cap.

Rattle in rear passenger area, check the pano shade where the ends ride in the rail. You should be able to grab the end of the sun shade and wiggle it, does it make a rattle sound?

I got rid of my 2018 X3 M40i about 4 years ago and regretted it and now looking to get a used 2020 with 16k miles but feeling lost. Drove the 2021 X3MC and damn my teeth feel loose and my wife complained about her boobs bouncing the entire time we test drove it. I want the Competition but love the Comfort of the M40i.
just sold my 2018 after driving it like it was stolen for 4 years. Loved it, the pops, bangs, and burbles…had nearly 100k miles. Was getting concerned about future repairs and potentially costly ones - so I bought I new 2022…such a great car!
i’ve already done that. not the solution. i’ve already read essentially every thread regarding the issue with it potentially being the battery and they all typically got a code with the battery being low. not my case 🙃
Try and check your coolant when it’s hot I know it sound weird and no it not going to explode on you untwist it slow as the coolant system heats up it sucks it into to engine so you could be low and not know it as a preliminary replace your coolant tanks and caps at the same time real super easy job
I have a 19 M40i and have the same call malfunction code dealer said water leak in the shark fin the fixed it under warranty worked again then came back a couple months later.

At first I wanted a 2019 X5 but then I saw the X3M40i was cheaper and better engine, plus you can add mods and I’ve been looking at different videos and seeing this definitely sold me on it

I just hit 1k miles so no maintenance yet however my wireless charging pad has not worked since I got it...trying to figure it out on my own but probably need to have it looked at. Not a big deal since the plug in charger works fine but still...brand new car!!
On the G01 (pretty sure on most modern bmw’s)…. there’s a little half circle indent on the plastic undertray. that’s where you jack up the front. on the rear. it’s okay to jack up from the diff. just make sure to have wood or rubber protecting it from metal on metal contact with the jack.
Im thinking about buying this car like in 3-4 years maybe to upgrade from my Lexus es 350 ( 149,000 miles currently)) I got it last year after a hit and run for 10k with (135,000 miles) last December. I love the Lexus but I love the X3 m40i 😮💨 but I don’t think it’s best for a college student right now😅. Kinda worried about the reliability of the bmw and maintenance cost as miles go up.

Have you looked into the possibility that the tiny battery for the SOS system is dead? I feel like I read something with the F30 chassis that you have to replace that tiny battery to get rid of that message. By the way, where did you get those jack stand adapters?
How hard was that battery to change? Do you have a PN you can share? FWIW I put some clear silicone gel up around the base of my sharkfin to try and keep water out. @@alexleeteehee
I had the same issue with the TCU were the seal around the fin failed and allowed water to enter and short out the TCU. I had just rolled over on the factory warranty but had platinum extended warranty / service. They were able to put it as a warranty claim. It involves replacing the tcu unit and re-sealing the fin. In my opinion, this should be considered as a manufacturing defect as the sealer they used from factory fails. It's not a defect caused by car washes.. ruclips.net/video/jhOtcLE1Me8/видео.html

Castrol oil for BMW is the wrong oil. Yes i know on the bottle it says for BMW. Read the owner's manual, it specifically says do not use Castrol for BMW. You need FE 14 or 17, just buy BMW oil. Also why not just buy BMW oil filter, they cost almost the same. And buy ramps instead of using a jack. It will change your life!
MANN manufactures BMW's oil filters (at least F series and above) also the BMW dealership I worked at used Castrol. Guy seems to be doing the right things
The B58s are one of BMW's really breakthroughs when the enthusiast were giving up on them the B58s brought them back, In fact Toyota put it in their own Supra so that shows great faith right there. I am deciding between an x3 and x5, want the inline 6 with B58 but some of the more advanced options may not be worth it such as the air suspension, would rather the springs, do not need my car's ass to be dropped when walking out to it in the morning and a $5000 repair bill that hopefully gets it back to where it was.
X5 and X3 are two different rides. The engine and car is tuned differently between the two…If you like a spirited drive, with more power and torque and taking corners and other cars off the line X3 is the way to go…unless you are going to go X5 50i or higher…but again, you will loose out on more of the sport car feel…but those bigger engines make that thing fly!
I had the same code on my g05 x5, and the mic is not working, but one time my wife shut the door pretty hard and that code was gone since😂, and is been 3 months still good

I have vrsf dp, mst cai, and cts charge pipe seen 470 few times normally bout 460. I dont think im gonna ever get rid of the truck,(200k maybe lol) gonna grab a m240 when i see a good deal.

also what’s crazy is that a couple days ago, the message went away and the mic worked again for about 24 hours before reverting back to an error and mic not working. might just take the headliner off and see where the mic routes to and check connection since it technically still works

If you haven’t already, check for the windshield washer reservoir rattle. Lots of people have that. Super easy unofficial fix from top side.

transfer case is fine. it’s the trans and driveshaft will need to be upgraded tho in the future

you just need to replace a battery for for the sos message, it's a small battery like a cell phone battery.
I did mine on the official dealer, 150eur
already replaced it. not the issue
