Ryan Holets: The Cop Who Adopted An Opioid-Addicted Baby | Megyn Kelly TODAY
He’s a real police officer.

Christopher Kafaldjian He’s how police officers are supposed to be, so yesss there are fake cops
Let's not get too extreme. There is no denying that this couple did something so beautiful and selfless. Seriously, I got emotional and was in disbelief how a routine call turned into 3 x lives saved. But to be a real police officer doesn't mean every cop needs to go an adopt a Hope. There are a lot of real cops out there, unfortunately the bad ones get much more air time.
My husband is a police officer and has been working 10+ years. I am joyfully waiting for the day when we are presented the opportunity to adopt a baby in this situation. My husband knows he can bring a child home at any time.
Bless you ma'am! I have a friend that has decided to place her baby for adoption but has not heard anything back from the adoption agency. She is 6 months pregnant.
Julie Green Amen❤❤❤
hero envy
@Julie Green There's a baby in this comment section waiting for you!
Tandi Caldwell any update on the baby?
This whole situation was fate. Now that sweet baby has a family and she will also always know that her birth mother loved her. God Bless this family
What a sweetheart. This shows this man has a beautiful, loving heart. Most people wish for a healthy baby. And this officer knew what he was getting into, and what the consequences could be, but did it anyway.
Clearly we have the best cops in the world. Tarnished by a minority of bad apples.
It is good to hear positive stories about police
Nat There’s police men like that all over the world. Minus the gun violence
You do. In my country Nigeria, the police are horrible. They are on the roads to collect money from innocent motorists. They hold your license without cause, impound your car for failing to give them money. They carry rifles and threaten to shoot down anyone who seemingly challenges their authority. They shoot down people sometimes accidentally and otherwise. Basically, the Nigerian police are not trained, at least the ones on the road. This is the tip of the iceberg.
abigail t actually there aren't. In my country Nigeria, the police are criminals turned police. They are murderers (some, a whole lot actually) and they brag about it in public.
MY GOD! What a wife !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bless these two for taking in that baby..even knowing she would have health issues, they adopted her...THAT is what it means to be truly human...to help someone else simply to help someone, because you have kindness, compassion, and love in your heart..my dear beloved grandmother(who has now passed) adopted me and I know that by doing so she saved my life..she gave me a good stable home for all of these years and for that I will be FOREVER grateful :)
Sunshine Hornick I know someone who adopted their nephew so he could have a good home because he has some health issues and his parents couldn't afford to take care of him
Sunshine Hornick 😊

God Bless u ☀️! I just wanted to tell u that ! I hope when u read this - God gives u a little tighter Hug !

good cop. wow. we need more amazing cops like this in our lives....
Kasual Beauty We do have a lot of amazing cops like this you just don’t hear about it. Not everyone can adopt a baby, but a lot of cops do other good deeds.
Most of our law enforcement are amazing men and women. Everyday they get up and head out to face what may be their last day on this earth and they do so to protect all of society. Their pay is far from enough and yet they do this job because they all want to make a difference. Ryan and Rebecca are a really special couple and they decided to give this baby the best life possible. God Bless them for that.
There are many amazing cops just like him....Only the news media rarely reports on it
Amen!🙏🙏
Kasual Beauty s I agree with you 100%👍🏾👐🏽🍉🍄
I am so glad to hear they also helped the birth mom and her boyfriend.
Every time I see a story on this officer and his wife it gives me hope for this world. He is a true police officer who takes protecting and serving to heart.
Hope is the cutest little baby her chubby cheeks are the best!
Yes, Hope is a cutie pie!
Need more cops like him! God bless the wife to!
They are out here, just have to look for them
They already exist. What we need more of is more news coverage for the good cops. Good cops are the majority, and sadly the few rotten eggs get more coverage and ruin it for the ones who are in this line of work for the right reasons. Being a police officer is a hard job that is incredibly underpaid, and it’s time they are given the respect the deserve in the media. The actions of a few will never represent everyone else as a whole who happen to share the same job title. They risk their lives every single day, which not only affects them, but their entire family. I’m so happy when stories like this are shared, I just wish it happened more to fairly represent the true demographics of good cops being the majority, rather than making it appear to be the complete opposite. God bless our law enforcement, especially this family. Such big hearts to not only adopt that precious baby, but to go the step, further to try to provide their daughter’s birth mother with the resources she needs to get herself back on the right path. Truly inspiring! 💕
I was one of many very similar adopted babies. Now I'm 27 like these folks. Such a beautiful and insipring story... It makes me want to call up and hug my parents!
They need to be on Ellen
MrsValentina007 yeah so they can be given help. Ellen will probably donate a lot of things Like diapers food kids clothes etc
I probably won’t see your reply. Yeah
As a police officer he cannot accept donations from Ellen, she can donate it to his wife or family member.
MrsValentina007 ,
@@LifeisEnergy2 Wow! Didn't know that
I salute the wife as well
I'm curious about Crystal's story. How does someone who is so smart and well accomplished end up on heroin? It's heartbreaking
addictions controls us and lives in us all. who knows she could have been a rec. pot smoker. that tried something new, or could have happened after a injury and was prescribed the pills to cover the pain. but when like all humans find our right poison. just hang on for the ride. it use to be alcohol and drugs when talking addiction. but if you think about your poison.... guess what. they got a room for that to.
I’m sure it would be interesting to hear. Unfortunately it Happens everyday.
Some people have addicted personalities, I’ve had so many friends & family members try one thing & get hooked for life. They say it’s the feeling & because their life starts going down hill they get into that negative mindset.
Addiction has nothing to do with being or not being smart and successful.
Because addiction can happen to a person from any strata of life. You can get posh kids with elite education becoming addicts. The difference is money. Addicts with money book themselves into fancy rehab clinics costing thousands and can hide their addiction. Poor people rely on state help or end up in prison.
I’m an addict in recovery. Addiction is beyond cunning baffling and powerful. You would think being pregnant would be more than enough to “snap someone out of it.” But most addicts cannot just stop without treatment, even when getting pregnant. I will always hope that our country will change and allow more access to treatment for those that do not have the resources to afford it. Bless this man, truly an amazing person with a kind heart. We need more people like this, especially police officers
These are people who deserve all blessings.
I love how they adopted the baby and helped the birth parents to 💗
I salute hia wife. Even after having four of her own she took her as her own . Without any complaints. With a smile on her face. I culd never do tht .
She has a name, her name isn't "a heroin addict" just saying. But it is an amazing story! God Bless Them!
1ProudMama Of3Boys ummm... they said her name? Wtf...
1ProudMama Of3Boys Well her baby was born addicted to heroin and had withdrawals. It’s hard to see much else about the Mom who put her child through this. Addiction is horrible and I sympathize greatly but hopefully you see my point. I’m sooo hope is in rehab.
Wouldn’t really get as many views if they say “cop adopts woman’s baby”
They sound to me like a very compassionate couple and they called her by her name Crystal. Her addiction was mentioned but they talked as though they all had formed a friendship. Nice to see a positive story like this, I wish them all well
They actually really only talk about her using her own name- Crystal.
This cop is amazing and he’s wife is absolutely amazing as well . God bless you guys honestly . Thank you for trying to change this baby’s life . God will provide for you guys and keep you guys safe
Megyn sarcasm is so uncalled for.
So true. Such a sweet story and beautiful caring family, but her judgement of the family couldn't be masked.
Angela Gaynor yes, like the little comment about him not rolling in the dough being a police officer. Like how about her donating a year supply of diapers instead of her making it a joke and having her audience laugh about it. She made so many little remarks through out such a nice humanitarian story. They deserved better!
Christine curly agreeed. It came off rude.
Christine curly look up sarcasm in the dictionary
Christine curly I think the word you’re looking for is disbelief, comedic relief, compassion and her attempt to try to relate and make them comfortable. I didn’t hear any sort of sarcasm in her voice or tone... this is a phenomenal story.. why not focus on just the story? Why add a comment that takes away from their truth.
This man and his Wife are just perfect for each other, so sweet.
Hope is so beautiful and Ryan and Rebecca were so wonderful to adopt her without any hesitation. Raising 5 children all under 5 is pretty much a handful. God bless your good hearts and the whole family.
a real man is always a real man .
I pray the baby girl Hope has no lasting effects from the heroine
There are no lasting effects from heroine u hear all horror story babies don't be sick wen show system giving morphine drop Sean off within two to six week no sickness withdrawal nothing if done properly also I wouldn't be worried about that be more worried about withdrawe l from prescription drugs that handed out like smarties severe withdrawal from valium methadone other antidepressant doc haven't clue effect don't care money
Tess Maniglia 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Tess Maniglia Grammar Police are usually critical expressions of inner issues.
@@estherstrategicadvisor749 ...thank you. I am tired of the "spelling police" myself. We all know what a person meant. It's kind of rude, and often it's the phone's check system that is doing it.
@@estherstrategicadvisor749 spelling isn't even part of grammar, but that's some solid armchair psychology.
The world needs more good people such as these two
That is a great story. Wow, amazing people here. God Bless this family and the birth mother too.
Life: compassion is required.
TWENTY SEVEN!!! Age is but a number, these two incredible individuals are wise and compassionate beyond their years!! What a wonderful family Hope will be raised in and she will always know her Mama!! There couldn't have been a better outcome for this family. I wish them all the very best going forward!!
Ellen would have given them 100 thou at Walmart
French Classes from LogicLanguageLearning 🤣🤣🤣
i doubt they need it,the love in that house hold could sustain a nation.

We need more people like this!! Wow! As an adoptive Mom, I'm so grateful for birth parents who give their little ones a better life!
My adoptive parents wanted nothing more to thank my biological mother for giving me to them. My life was forever changed by her selflessnes
The police officer and his wife deserves all respect
Same situation with me but it wasn't a cop.. I am 24, I'm a lucky girl.
Prettyflyforawhitegirl
God bless you
I am glad for you. Have a good day.b
God put that police officer there for a reason.
What an absolute BEAUTIFUL story! Many blessings to this family. May God watch over this family of 5. And also Hopes birth mother and father. I hope they can get clean.
They went through rehab in Florida. From what I understand, Tom and Crystal are no longer together. I hope that they have not relapsed.
as i was watching this i first said "wow we need more cops like this".... then i said "no we need more people like this" but then i realized and came to the conclusion "I need to be like this" Its not enough to just say we need others like this and don't include myself in the "more people like this part" ..definitely has inspired me to reflect on what is more important and what i should be doing.
Brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful family. Thank you for helping her parents and thank you for adopting and loving that baby who so desperately needed you as your own.
Drugs can take down anyone
What an amazing human being!! God Bless this police officer and his family! 🙏🙏
People who have an addiction aren’t always CHOOSING to make “bad decisions”. So the way that they portray that she wasn’t doing enough, was sad. A lot of people with addictions can’t help it. Addiction is a DISEASE.
Yes, I had a student, who after graduation, got hooked on heroin. Sad, sad situation.
I'm glad that Crystal and Tom are better now
Dear Megyn Kelly,
Thank you! I'm on the elliptical sweating and bawling my eyes out!😭😭😭💪
All the tears...what a selfless couple and good for the birth mom for having the courage to be the best mom she could be to her daughter.
This couple are real true human beings... God bless them and their kids!
I grew up in Albuquerque, this story hit home, I couldn't keep a dry eye. I wish he'd get a less dangerous job but somehow I know he's dedicated to helping where it's needed most. He's helping to give Hope the best chance in life and that creates more love in a world that needs it desperately.
i cried the whole interview !!! his heart is gold God bless him and his family
So proud of them! I wish I could thank them for doing this!
