Awesome, No the stiff stuff is when I painted he tips and clear sprayed to hold the paint, because of course I didn't think of that until all was sewn on DUH ME! so that's why it feels a bit stiff there, if I had a matching color handle tips and top, I wouldn't have had to do that. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do with what ya have., The tips usually I just sew through the tip holes a few times, Though Glue isn't a bad idea, especially around the the top after tightening the magic ring a drop of glue from the under side would make sure it holds tight. I Hope many will try it, it's a lot of fun.
Thanks so much for sharing. Such beautiful workmanship. Would you share the yarn brand and color you used. I love the sparkle and also the hook size. I hope I can come near the stunning results you achieved.
Thank you so much Cathy for sharing with us. What size hook did you use, because she used to 3 and I wanted to make sure I use the same size hook you used. Have a beautiful day
Sometimes when I see gorgeous stuff from more experienced crocheters than I it’s like the gauntlet has been thrown! The challenge is for me to take it and go forth to show that I can do it too. That’s a hoot actually!!! My to-do list is really getting out of control-but golly, I love this parasol❣️ So, it’s going on the 13-foot long list of wanna-do projects!!!!! And when it gets done, I’ll show the pics to the world😅
When I saw the parasol in the last video, I audibly gasped and was speechless from the beauty of it. So wonderful that both of you to share all the information about how to make it. ❤❤❤
Thank you Chrystal for getting the information for us and sharing it with us. Cathy is very, very kind to share it with us. We are truly appreciative of her kindness.
@robinmccune3438 Really? That's your focus for this video? Last I checked this is not portrayed as an academic, scholarly presentation of a thesis. Please focus on the intent for this video. If you can't do that, go elsewhere.
All In A Nutshell is WONDERFUL! For us, Southpaws she posts left-handed versions. Her voice is SOOO soothing. She is Dutch and does them in her language too! ❤
I made it as well using Sheepjes yarn.. was monotonous but turned out really beautiful .. one of my best things. I framed it and gave it to my daughter. It's the exact one that Blossom Crochet used
Oh also I fit it to frame and used stitch markers, safety pins will also work to hold it in place until I got to each point to sew removing each as they are sewn, , I sew the points 1st then go to the underside to sew on the rods, when sewing to the rods try to just pick through and underside of yarn so it doesn't show on outside( like tucking ends in a blanket) but using the same color threads or Yarn to sew will help it not show outside as much just incase ya go all the way through.!
Wow, I was one of the many people. I guess that went crazy over those parasols and keep going back and really watching you show them to us. It sounds like I am way out of my league to even attempt to make one and I have the utmost respect for what she has done. I think if she made those and if she sold them she would sell out in a day lol, I'm so glad she gifted them to you. You work so hard helping us learn and I love seeing you receive such wonderful gifts of love. I was hoping she sold them so I could buy one😅
Thank you for all the comments, this is why I come here and have been for years. You guys are so supportive and so kind I feel like we're one big group of family, crocheters and you all have no way of knowing but I lost my husband of 40 years a year and a half ago and four months later my youngest son was diagnosed with liver disease and then went into renal failure and he's right now at Shands hospital in Gainesville waiting for a liver transplant and . I know this isn't the place for this discussion but you guys have no idea just reading your comments. Give me strength to know that total strangers are so nice just someone they don't even know and encourage it thank you all.
Hi Crystal. My daughter asked me to make a parasol a few years ago and I watched quite a few tutorials to see about making one and after watching some I came to a decision that nope not for me. Lol. But they are absolutely gorgeous and she does fantastic work.
Thank you and Cathy both gor sharing where to get the pattern. Her yarn choice(s) are so beautiful that I was hoping she would let us know what she used. 😊😊😊
You could probably find a child size umbrella at local thrift shops and Deseret industry stores for a few dollars and upcycle them into these beautiful parasols ❤
What a generous gift you've given...both of you, Crystal and Cathy (K). Beautiful ideas from Beautiful Lady Sharers ❤️ . I know I'm going to try one. Crystal you told the complete truth about items we make and they come completely out of love and appreciation. Thank you so much for sharing
I don't think I would ever have enough patience to make a beautiful parasol like that. Again I have to tell you that you could make anybody feel like they could make anyting. It is amazing.
BIG "Thank You Crystal " for your kindness in talking with Kathy about the parasol & being able to post the link for All of us who would Love to create this Gorgeous Mandala Parasol.
This is what I love about crochet and knitting, you can use just a few stitches to make something beautiful, in your own color scheme, or you can let all of your creative juices flow. The parasol is such an inspiration to look beyond what you only think you can make, to what you can really make if you just try.
Thank you Crystal for getting the information and thank you Cathy for sharing your experience and information with us! I'm definitely going to try this!
That was so nice of her to explain how she made her parasol to you to share with us! It is amazing work and so creative of her to think of doing that. I don’t have the time or mental energy to put into this project right now but I’m saving this video and I’m for sure going to be making this as soon as life gives me a chance. Thank you Cathy for sharing and thank you Crystal for explaining what she shared with us! Much love ❤️
Very Victorian and lovely to see women in the 1800's, in their dresses, @ social gatherings to protect from sun. Whether from England or India, originally, just beautiful! Thank you both, for such a gracious and detailed bit of how, and where to start! Such a gift! Most excellent! ❣💙⚘
Wow that's beautiful! Thank you crystal for going above and beyond to find out what you could to get the information for your viewers! Unfortunately not something I can do with my ADHD but that is absolutely beautiful!
Well you probably can do it even with ADHD as it goes faster than ya think, especially the the first few parts and each vid is 5 rows, and until ya get to the wider at the bottom does it take more time and only because it's more stitches in each round, But once ya do it it goes faster than ya think, so ADHD has no hold on ya for it.
Thank you Cathy and Crystal for sharing this! I started the blanket when my son was in high school for a graduation present. He's now 27 and still hasn't gotten it. 😂 Definitely will do one and the parasol when I retire so I can continue without all the interruptions of life!
I didn’t even dare ask about how to make this. It’s gorgeous and I’m thinking if I take this on, I will need to be in the right frame of mind to even TRY!!! I might dare to take this on after I make some of my other dream shawls!!!
The brown parasol is simply stunning! I know I could never match the quality and beauty of Cathy's. Well done girl! You have a unique talent and thank you for sharing with Crystal so she could share with us. We all appreciate your beautiful work!
How much fun! These would make a wonderful wedding parasol in white, or any color as protection from the sun! Thank you Crystal for sharing this with us.
Every time Crystal shows this, I immediately think “Bag-O-Day colors”, every single time 😂😂😂 it makes me lol. Thank you Kathy, your work is so beautiful and nobody is more special than our beloved Crystal💜💞💜
I love, love, the parasol. One of my favorite things about your videos is how sweet and kind you are. You are such a genuine person, it's a pleasure to watch you. I do a lot of thread crochet and this is my sort of project.
I‘m one of those who really want to make of of those. Thrift shops are not what they are in the USA, so I‘ll have my work cut out to find a cane umbrella, but I will! Thanks for passing on the info. The Idea of leaving some nylon on to anchor the crochet is brilliant.
It’s All in a Nutshell is an amazing crochet channel! It’s for advanced crocheters she’s extremely easy to follow if you’re up for a challenge. Kudos to the creator for taking her creation one step further!❤
Yes, very innovative. I would not have thought to use a blanket pattern but still would'nt know how to attach to the frame . Thank you and Cathy both... extremely kind ... so beautiful ❤ project!!!!
That parasol is a work of art! Beautiful! A pleasure to view! Thank you Crystal for showing it off and letting us see it! And thank you for passing all this info along to us! Thank you both! Oh, that's so pretty!
I love it's al in a nutshell! I subscribed awhile ago. Sister in stitches is a gorgeous site too, can't believe they aren't making new content. It would be great if you had someone to create back and forth like she did. You are the number 1 place for me to go for new stitches and ideas. 💕

Thank you to you and Cathy for giving us all the information on those beautiful parasols! Cathy’s ingenuity and craftsmanship is outstanding!!! I’ve wanted to make one from the moment I saw you show them on your channel. I already have the pattern downloaded and am just looking for the right yarn. Thanks again so much! Cheers from FL😺
Wow Kathy and Crystal thank you for sharing this information the parasols are so beautiful I would love to make one for myself and my granddaughters thanks for your generosity.
You know what? My respect points for Cathy just went WAYYYYY up because a lot of folks would capitalize on this by charging folks to make this. Instead of doing that, she gives her resources! Way to go Cathy!!❤
I knew the second I saw that parasol that it came from the Mandala Madness Blanket by Helen Shrimpton. I’ve made at least 6 of them from Ester’s It’s all in a Nutshell tutorial. It was the very first youtube tutorial I ever used and the first person I followed. BagODay was my second and I’ve followed you both ever since. The blanket tutorial is soo easy to follow so that even if you are a beginner crocheter, you can still easily follow it. I do recommend doubling that magic ring, because over time it does loosen up. So glad that you shared this info with your community. Makes me love you even more!

I made Mandala Madness by Helen Shrimpton and used "It's all in a Nutshell Crochet" videos. It's a gorgeous pattern! I love it so much ❤
I made it as well using Sheepjes yarn.. was monotonous but turned out really beautiful .. one of my best things. I framed it and gave it to my daughter. It's the exact one that Blossom Crochet used
Yup that's the one. that's the Video! WooHoo
I have made Mandala Madness three times. Esther does have a very soothing voice and is very easy to follow.
I made it too in Merino, in rainbow colors :)
I'm in the process of making the mandala madness blanket, almost done. It is full of every kind of stitch. You never get bored with this pattern.
