      White privilege is nor having everything given to you. It's not about never having hard times. It's more about not enduring the things blacks do. You're not prejudged based on your skin color. You're not followed around in stores. You're given the benefit of the doubt. Etc. Now that doesn't mean all whites are completely free of those things. But do you fear being pulled over every time you go somewhere? Because they do. And it often ends badly, even for the innocent.

But we don't hear about the million times a year black people are pulled over and have no issues do we? I work in a store and we have shoplifters or sketchy people. 75% of the time I could point them out based on their look. Most of them are local first nations. Occasionally we get a white person - usually homeless or a druggy, but still we could identify them before hand just on looks alone. 99% of the time we are right. Most times there aren't issues, we will only hear about the bad times, and many of those times are warranted after being suspicious or assuming it's racist when it wasn't. How many criminals are praised after they're shot by police when they were literally attempting to kill someone? I keep seeing it on media posts, glorifying the bad guys just because they were black and killed by cops. And good thing they were, anyone that tries to kill someone SHOULD be shot down. Blacks get pulled over many more times then whites. At night, when cops can't see race, the rates get closer. When whites are caught with pot, they're not charged. Not true with blacks. Why do you think blacks fill our prisons? They're prosecuted more, have less resources for a defense, and get longer sentences.
      Are you familiar with real estate red lining? How about the broken window policy? Blacks have been written out of programs that are supposed to benefit the common citizen.

Why are there so many black folks standing up and saying that all of what you're saying is exaggerated and falsified? Funnily enough the other group is doing the same thing so we now operate in a society where victim status is the most powerful thing and all groups highlight there victimhood status and whine about it so things that will actually make out society and likely the rest of the world better too is pushed to the back burner.

    thank you Amala. i’m so grateful that you are able to point out the hypocrisy. Let me start by saying that I am a white man. But first and foremost I am human and I am an American. We are all brothers and sisters because we are all our heavenly father‘s children, and it doesn’t matter what color you are. In my case, I was denied the opportunity to go to the University of my choice because of my color. I did not benefit from any privilege. I am a self-made businessman and I’ve had to work my ass off my entire life. What’s really cool, is the richest people I know are black. And good for them. they have realized the American dream, they haven’t waited for anyone to hand them anything, they worked their asses off too. please keep up the good work. I am in 7th grade, and I walked into my 6th my English teachers class. She has a list of books that she has read, is reading, and is going to read and I find it cool to look at those books. But one day when I walked in to class and look at her books, I see a book that is titled, “our white privilege.” Like what, I am white and I can say I have grown up in the same neighborhood of most of the black kids at school (which is Lot). Let me tell you, it was not a nice neighborhood if you know what I mean. Some of the black kids at school had it better than me, some of these kids had jobs and got big clothes brands or gaming consoles. So nobody can say I have white privilege, some kids of other races have big houses and I don’t and that’s good for them. But I know my white English teacher has no place saying that i have white privilege.

    It depends, privileges don’t go as far as which you benefit off of financially. It could be something as simple as getting a better seat at a restaurant due to your skin color (yes this does happen) or not having to worry as much when being pulled over by a cop, or simply being trusted more because of the stereotype that white people dont steal and are good citizens. There is so much more to white privilege then what someone Gaines financially it can be psychological privilege.

    I'd also like to point out that privilege at our nation's inception didn't revolve around race. Wealth and ethnicity/nationality were what could be called the privilege of the day. The Irish, who today would certainly be called white, were not accepted as equals for decades. The same goes for Italians and even people of other religions besides Protestantism. Even the black slaves weren't enslaved for their skin color--it just so happened at the time that they were the easiest slaves to acquire at the time.
    Later, as Christian thought began to challenge the idea of mistreating humans were black slaves redefined as being less than human to avoid the inevitable moral conclusion that it was wrong to perceive and treat them as anything but equals.

    It's actually a naunced issue. As a white person who grew up in a Black community, I experienced both sides. Police officers on a call to a young boy with a gun behind my house did not shoot when they saw it was me. (It was a bb gun). My neighbor Shooby who was Black was standing right behind me and said he was glad I was holding the gun. We both felt there was a good chance it would have rolled out differently if he had been holding the gun. So that seems like privilege to me. But it ignores the constant stream of harassment and discrimination I faced from kids, adults and even teachers and bus drivers. It ignores the fact that I made it my life's purpose to get out of the ghetto. It also ignores the fact that the lack of privilege that Shooby faced all his life did not originate with whites. He died young, shot when he was trying to rob somebody.

      That’s not about white privilege, that’s about statistics. Black people account for about 13% of the total population and more than 50% of the crime.
      White people aren’t financially oppressing black people, they are oppressing themselves by choosing to hang on to a victim mentality and believing that things should be handed to them. Aside from the few rich, white people understand they have to work for what they want. We go to school, work hard to get good grades, take out painfully high loans like everyone else and get through college. Then we get a job and bust our asses for what we have.

    I have witnessed white privilege in my life. However when I see it play out it's in smaller ways that people don't usually talk about. The best example of it for me is in witnessing my soon to be ex-husband dealing with law enforcement. I am Mexican and go through the world as a non white person. When he gets caught with a large amount of weed and is not taken to jail but left to live as normal until they call him and tell him he needs to come to the station when they are ready to make an arrest for it and he's allowed to leave when they're done, that's not something a non white person would usually get. When he is pulled over for having lapsed insurance and the cop let's him call his dad to be added to his policy and then gets to just leave without being impounded or getting a ticket, that's his privilege as a white person. There are other examples but to me that has always shown privilege.

So a company would hire any black person, Asian person, woman, etc bc it makes them seem more diverse instead of an Asian, black, or woman who is actually qualified for the job.
      As for white privilege, people like Ted Bundy and Jeffery Dahmar got away with committing crimes more easily bc they were white. Primarily Jeffery Dahmar. The court protected him when he did harm to a young boy who I believe was Asian. They dismissed a lot of other crimes he did to black people as well. I have this girl at work that always tells me I'm privileged because I'm white. I grew up in the hood. Gangs beat me up, had to walk to and from school because gangs ran the busses, and had to run out of a lot of classes to not get a beating between classes. If I had privilege I don't know what it was because I don't think I had it.

    She's completely wrong though. Compare conviction rates with comparable evidence, college admission rates with comparable grades, or hiring rates with comparable qualifications, and the white privilege shines through.

    What i have noticed over the years is that some nationalities cant ask for more so they get only that much. For example polish ppl were poor, so when they threw me a bone at work i was happy with what i got, until I have found out that others got a whole freaking chicken. Simply put, im one of the very best managers while being paid the least. Is it racism? No, i have simply not negotiated enough...

  • @bigfella9745
    @bigfella9745 2 года назад +1

    If there was no racism why did you need a civil rights movement and who is this black woman speaking for white people as if she is white herself and how would she know was she here when the Civil rights movement was going on? I doubt it and if she was I would say she looks remarkably younger than someone who was there.
