I was just wondering if you'd thin the paints for highlighting? Or if you've got a rule of thumb for when to thin paints and when not to bother? Many thanks!
Generally I'll thin in most cases - but it's about how much you thin. This is probably a bit variable because different paints need different thinning - it's really hard to give a one-rull-fits all. Generally I want thin enough to come off the brush smoothly while not being so thin it's overly transparent - but no sadly, there's no real rule of thumb that makes much sense without knowing your brands, style of painting, brushes, palette and desired technique - but I would like to try and cover some of this on a future video! :)
@alexpaintstinythings would be interesting to see the comparison of different highlight colours on the black to see what effect it has on the overall armour
lol I *just* got my hands on a black templar combat patrol for pennies. Good timing pal. edit: that's why I came here, but the Anne Frank crack is why I stayed.
i guess i have to start a black templar army now
I mean... You could start with a Kill Team I guess :D

Nice stuff! I would have to stop myself from slapping on a white Maltese cross on those shoulders, it would fit so well.
It would - I didn't bother with the insignia for this one since I wanted it to be purely black armour - but agreed! :)
Wonder if i used brown instead of blue if it would work but look warmer
It would. But also possibly rusty or dirtier.
