No idea why I can't comment myself, but I started with blood angels. The first mini I ever painted was a blood angel, and the older models were much harder to paint with more details.... Your timeframe might make it hard, but other than that I'm almost convinced blood angels are one of the easiest armies to paint.
I think the most encouraging thing about this for me is that the blends aren't this stupid smooth thing that takes hours to do. You can see the brush strokes, the individual layers painted on there, the scratchiness and yet, it looks wonderful. It works so perfectly. This has the vibe of "don't overthink how to do the smoothest gradient ever or waste your time for hours on end. Just do it. Just paint the minis, trust yourself, and you can do it." Thank you, Lucas and thank you Squidmar.
My sweet summer child.... those brushstrokes are placed to perfection and the contrast is made by someone understanding light.... having smooth transitions is the only way us mortals can achieve something they don't feel odd
@@Peanutz75 It’s still far more achievable and less time consuming than other methods I’ve seen. Plus, I’ve gotten fairly accustomed to lighting and painting reflections. As someone who’s fairly experienced, I’m definitely going to start giving this a try.
@@beanboy1107 Guys, space marines, when you break down their geometric shapes into their simplest form, are just a bunch of cylinders and spheres. You can look up how light affects these and you're good to go.
IM probably going to get hate for this but i loved everything except for that! I don't know i just don't like the way it looks and the angle that it is at plus i keep thinking there is no way that the dreadnaught wouldn't snap that tree in half once he put his weight on it LOL!! Genuinely not trying to hate because its better then what i can do and it is freaking amazing its just i don't like how the dreadnaught is set up is all!
Ah, a great example of what I've been telling people for ages now... Blending doesn't matter if you paint your light the right way ;) Thanks for the great video!
Lucas, once again you remind me as to why you’re my favourite wargamer painter. You’re inspired and encouraged me to try out daunting techniques. It would be incredibly interesting to see your take on both the Eldar and Tyranids - please consider this for future projects. Thank you for producing top tier quality free content. 😌
It's acutlly awesome I have been painting my blood angels like this for years, Wonderful job. I did stray away from games workshops sceme a little by dsoing non metalic gold on the shoulders and chest.
Awesome seeing BA. Dante and the BA are what got me into Warhammer, and this channel is what got me into painting and eventually the tabletop. I’m def taking notes for this one
I truly love how you worked on your army and how those bases makes the minis pop up so much! What brand are the plastic plants? Also have you ever made agriworld bases in one of your other videos? I'm starting a Knight army and I would have loved to make it more medieval on an agriworld withs crops/field
From this high rock, from this peak, the light of your great work of art has shun so that I have seen it from my Golden Throne! Truly a work of art worthy of great angels worship, great video and keep up your faithful patronage to my most coveted doctrine, “The Rule of Cool!” For tacticians united in the purpose of the Corpse Emperor are blessed in my sight and shall forever live in my memory!
I'm so glad y'all made this video! I just got started this hobby and I already have a 1,000 point BA army and I'm starting to paint them now. I also just got a Death Company squad and made my own Lucien from Tacticus.
Ok, this video made me pull the trigger on the paint set, so far I've mostly just used armypainters speedpaint but I want to improve and recently picked up a wet pallete. gonna be interesting to see how well or bad i can manage :D
This was so good, I watched it twice. I learned a heap of useful stuff, but I think I'll keep using true metallic paints. I'm just not ready for non-metallic metal yet. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing job! I really like the red here and will definitely try to do your recipe justice when I finally tackle the painting on my BAs. Chefs kiss and hope you got a cookie out of this
Yes!!! Red is very tecnic colour, the best for paint this color is use a solid scheme for any part of the paint, and the power of red more than blue is have various shade e tonalities of this color. Nice video.
So I think one thing I would have liked to see during all of these steps is a static image or model being rotated to show how each of the steps you are taking become more obvious to us. We only get to see how the model is changing when its in your hand as you are actually painting it, if you gave us images or showed the model after each step I think it would further drive home not only the impact of the changes but how they really begin to take shape and show what you are working to achieve, it allows us as viewers to stop the video and really dissect all those small changes especially with the highlighting. Love the videos guys
Y'all really need to start including the music in the descriptions. I've had to painstakingly find so many bangers at this point. Make my life easier, please.
Awesome. You paint red how I do.Same with flesh. Funny as well in tournaments I didn't win a lot but would get best painted or best army. I always wanted to try airbrushing. Huge modkes like in privateer press woud take me forever to blend.
Amazing as Always, can't wait to see the follow ups and how you get along at the tournament. Where did you get those leaves from? I'm just getting ready to start my BA from scratch to have a cohesive army as mine has been growing since 5th and I've got into painting since then, definitely gunna do a few test models following your method
"What sanity, Lukas?" Actually a very interesting question. Good one, Emil, good one. One chocolate cookie for him if he brings an answer on the next video! ^^
Blood Angels and Lukas , it can’t get much better than this 🙏🏽. Don’t worry Emil I love you very much but, Lukas deserves to get his cookies while he can still eat them 😂
OT: do you publish the background music playlists of your videos? There are often nice songs I would like to listen more of! Back to topic: Love your channel. I think I watched nearly every video and learned so much about miniature painting. Keep up the good work (and do another Diorama)
This is a really awesome video and you're store is actually one of the few that is worthwhile to go to. Have you looked at Gaahleri airbrushes yet by any chance? That's what I have, and it's been quite good. I would be really interested to hear your take on a comparison between various brands including them.
What a cool way to paint the jungle base with sponge. Do you think I could do that for a desert base? What colours would you use? Thanks again for another great video!
Awesome job Lucas😮. Love your videos, best hobby energy/Aura out there. Btw the Biltema aktivator you use you need to be careful with, it has the "cancer/mutagen causing" sign on it. You need gloves, mask and a well ventilated space, preferably outside when you use that.☣️⚠️⚠️
Bruh, how is it even possible? Did you trade your soul for that skill? I can't event imagine what steps to do to make it any near to your results. Insane 🤯
The paint scheme looks really decent, i especially like the contrast between the shadow's and highlights on the red. My only concern is how god damn strong is that tree if a 10 ton dreadnought can swing from it lol.😂

Fun tip if you don’t wanna use putty to mask three layers of hairspray/heavy chipping fluid is usually enough to act as a mask

The Dread doing pole dance kills me! Amazing job, man-effectiveness at its highest point!
Insane. Shout out to the dreadnought - Brother Tarzan
Brother Tarzan ahahahah
Oh no I just saw the comment after I posted. I said the same thing and called him Venerable Brother Tarzan
Shout out to the tree. Fucking beast of a dead tree.
Lucas always painting some cool stuff. these are so dope
Look great! Those bases are absolute class when paired with the red armor. They really pop.
@0:55 those paint jobs are so good for a 10yr old! You must had a lot of skill and practise even then
These look awesome mate, I'd love to see more Blood Angels as you continue your collection.
I love how you dropped this as I'm just finishing the first 5 DC jump intercessors from my boxset

Did you guys know Lukas used to paint minis in a cupboard under the stairs before he got his letter from Squidwarts?
Exactly the army I wanted to begin with! Awesome video!
Same!
Love all the dynamic poses, WOW ! ! !
Just primed intercessors squad with Mephiston Red. So, what kind of painting difficulties you are talking about, HORUS?!
I’m planning on a Blood Angels army soon. Definitely following this guide. Especially with my Squidmar paints!
Just wanted to say the way you based the mech suit is awesome. Best basing job I have seen.
Snyggt! Älskar dina hoppande dreadnoughts. Ska bli kul att se dem live nästa helg.
The posing and the paint is next level, great job
Fantastic work on these! The basing is incredible!

Those bases are sick.. But that colour scheme for the Blood Angels... Fricken' beauty.
i just started blood angels aswell and this video was such a joy to watch. Would love to see more of them!
Cam we take a minute to shine a light on how AMAZING that Dreadnought pose is.
The entire time I was like, nice.. Then I saw the DC Dread and went no way!
Cool stuff :D
I really enjoy those types of videos! Gonna try painting my Ynnari army in similiar style (after all, they are red and black too!)

Contrast in your background really makes colors pop!
Also, layering red to a red adjacent helps too!

I both love and hate watching these. So so good! Almost too good. These look amazing! I really need to learn how to paint properly 😂😂
Amazing job! I really like the red here and will definitely try to do your recipe justice when I finally tackle the painting on my BAs. Chefs kiss and hope you got a cookie out of this
I love the poledancing Dreadnought! 😃
Wow what a coincidence. I just today got this box set. That’s awesome. Great timing!

Yes! Im bored at work and needed this video!!! Also thanks for getting me into Warhammer miniatures.

Always inspiring to watch your vids. Amazing set
That Dreadnought has some serious King Kong Energy!?
Ook.
This and the Squiddly Bits video are really pushing me to change my Aeldari color scheme to the classic red/black. These look so sick!
