Hi Everyone! How do you like our Top 5 Countries for Bicycle Touring and do you have any recommendations for us?
Really impressed with Iran. Always hear negative things in the press. Would like to see you South Africa soon. Greetings from Cape Town.
My country Scotland our West Coast is very nice 👌.
Having spent most of my bicycle touring in latin america and western/northern europe, I can't compare these to any of the 5 places you list (none of which I've visited!) but my top 5 are Mexico, Belize, New Zealand, England, and Cuba! Cuba in particular is a magnificent place to visit by bike - I hope you have a chance sometime.
Hi Riaan! Iran and it's people are amazing! We would love to cycle (South) Africa one day! All the best, E&M
👍🏼 Scotland is amazing all the way around 😉
Really enjoyed these suggestions! Great video.

Awesome Roger! Amazing places to vist :) Enjoy
Fascinating; a real pleasure to watch this and hear your reasons. Plus, the bloopers are great!
Hey, thank you so much! All the best :)
I admire you both for your spirit of initiative that led you through a big amount of emotional experiences, in other words through real life. Great!
Thanks a lot Eric and Maudy, very informatif sharing and great experience.
Thank You! Really inspirational.
Your Welcome!!
I met a fellow on a world tour while touring and his two favourite countries were Georgia and Japan(#1). I had the opportunity to host him for a couple of days when he cycled across Canada. I have heard a lot of really positive things about the people of Iran and I also have had the luck to host someone from Iran. My two favourite countries to cycle tour and at the opposite ends of the Earth are New Zealand and Iceland. I have yet to find a place I didn't like (and I include the United States in that number though there are more hostile vehicle drivers), my really favourite place is in my own backyard of here in British Columbia, Canada.
Cool to see Iran included in your top 5! Wish you guys had spent more time biking through there, some great sights across the south Caspian region.
Really liked your Japan videos, lots of material for a 4 week trip we're planning for next spring!
Congratulations for the video, seems simple but has a lot of great content about people not just cycling, that's the spirit of adventour cycling tours! I wish I can visit at least some of these amazing countries one day.
Amazing! Very happy to go on a journey with you! Thanks!
Thank you too 😊 All the Best

Hi Guys 😊 Thanks so much! Lovely to hear from you! We hope all is well 🙏🏼 All the very best & Tailwinds, E&M
As a very experienced touring cyclist, I agree that Georgia is the most amazing country to cycle.
The reasons: Extreme and variant landscape, friendly people, countless amazing roads with almost zero cars, Low cost accommodations & restaurants and a big variety of fruits, vegetables & nuts, wines and vodka form grapes (chacha) on markets..
I recommend cycling Georgia at least one month for the first time there, if not 2 months. I personally cycled there along the last several years - 5-6 months. It's worth any minute, I spent there. Georgia is a pure wild primeval original country and culture, the western lifestyle didn't destroy yet.
About Turkey: Everything Maudi said is correct. The main problem: Turkey is too giant for cycling, and the distances are not for cycling. Not because of the length, but because it's too boring cycling the same landscape for 2 weeks and then changing to another landscape for another2 weeks.
N/B Turkey has one of the best cuisine on this planet. Far better than any country in Europe. In Georgia, the variety of basic agricultural products on the markets is also huge, but the Georgian kitchen is on the weak side....
Which month did you go to Georgia?
I always ride in Georgia in Autumn (mid September till mid November). June is also reasonable time for cycling.
Summer time is not appropriate for cycling, because it's very hot everywhere bellow 1000 meter, And very humid near the Black sea.
Turkey cuisine better than Italy Spain or France? LOL

@@jamesrodriguez1389 u have no idea abt turkish cuisine😂.They are very famous

We hope everyone gets to do that soon enough!! All the Best David!
I watched your whole adventure and it was during the first wave of covid..and as it continues I am sad and eager and filled with so many emotions to do a bicycle tour.
I definitely want to visit iran and georgia and turkey. Landscape food culture and the unknown!
Turkmenistan looks a little to lonely for me. Maybe if I have a bicycle friend to go with.
I had cycled holland belgium Germany denmark and norway years ago.
And after watching you and other people I realize how I crave for this adventure again! And to meet bicycle tourists too.
Amazing videos.

Made my day. 😁👍
Ha, Thanks Ian!! All the Best
I've toured Japan, Sweden, Korea, Canada and USA on a bike named Nimbus. My next destination is to land in Thailand and fly home from Vietnam. Thanks for the inspirational videos. I love bikes.
Thanks! Charming! Couldn't help notice that all the recommendations are actually along the silk-road :) when you have a moment be so kind and comment on your bikes? What make/model did you use ? And how did they hold up ?
Awesome
Thanks Valmir!
Congratulations. Each country has its own beauty.
😊 It sure does 😍 All the Best, E&M
Thanks for this video. Indeed, every time that I hear about travel in Iran it's always very positive.
We are glad is seems to be this way! Iranians deserve a better spotlight in the world. Wonderful people ❤️
Mooie video luitjes!!! Dit moet zeker liefhebbers inspireren! More! more! hihihihi...
Kees
really interested in turkey bikepacking, so glad it's on your list haha
😊
Hi guys, thank yiy for the video's. We follow your roads👌🏾💯Interesting👏🏾my husband and I hope to do 'rondje, Nederland ' All the very best👌🏾👋🏾
in europe you had an amazing adventure in italy. in middle east georgia and persia in far east japan ...yea evey were in this planet is beautiful with amazing lovely simple people.
So nice 🤗
Thank you Mesut :)
Bravo! What an experience. Looks like you went to Shikoku via the Shimanami Kaido across the Seto Inland sea. I did that and then through the middle of Shikoku on route 33. That was a wonderful experience for me. Thank you for sharing your journey, and the inspiration to cycle other parts of the world.
Hi Andrew! We did it the other way around and it was awesome. We also have a videos more dedicated to that route if you are interested. Great to hear you had a great experience too 😊
@@WheelstoWander fantastic! Just found all your Japan cycle touring videos now, and I'm looking forward to watching them all 👍🏻
Thank you for d nice video.... Love. You guys... 🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕 Watching from Philippines 🇵🇭 🇵🇭 🇵🇭
Hi Neil! Thanks 😊 We hope you are doing good 🙏🏼 All the Best, E&M
I have been cycling in Turkey and Georgia and I absolutely agree with you. Amazing Landscapes, great food, and really nice people. Last year we had in mind to go to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan for a bikepacking trip, but the Covid ruined our plan, and still, we don´t know if we will go this summer. What seems to be pretty sure is that we will go next winter to Iran to do ski-mountaineering in the volcanos north of Theeran. Thank you for sharing your opinions because it makes me think that we, my wife and me, are in the right way
That sounds great Jose! We hope you will get to go this year 🤞🏼 Have lots of fun in Iran, it's incredible 👍🏼
Nice one
Thanks!!
I agree with Japan it is such a dynamic Country. Awesome people, food and landscape.
😊
I would love to get out bikepacking again. I would particularly like Japan and Georgia. Hope you will resume your adventures some day.
We hope so too Ian! Fingers crossed for everyone!! Georgia and japan are both amazing, so we hope you will get to do that!
Truely inspiring 🙏 leads to travel more 🚴🏞️🌅🏖️ last part was 😂😂 very Fun Maudi 😂. Take care Eric & Maudi 🥰🥰 Gain 😋 more energy for you're upcoming world tour🤴👸💐💐
Thank you for the lovely comment Puneeth 😊 Wishing you all the best & health 🙏🏼 E&M
I’ve always been a bit afraid of Turkey and Iran, but your summations have made me see those countries, and others, in a different light. I don’t think I’d ever travel as a lone woman to either of those places still though, but would be happy to be accompanied by a male friend. But I’m going to start my journies much closer to home for now. I’m slowly catching up to the present with your vids and enjoying every second 🫶🏻
Should be mandatory for Western politicians to solo-cycle through all these countries, to experience and learn.
Great idea 😉
Vince, don't be so naive. The problem with country like Iran, is the fundamental regime. People who live in country like Iran, suffering from these brutal rulers. There is no problem with the "Western politicians" in this case. Western cyclists enjoy to cycle in Iran, because of the original culture and the warm heart of the simple people. No-one of these cyclists would agree to live there as a citizen in a brutal dictatorship like Iran.
@@Cycle-Tourer Don't assume what you don't know. I'm talking about the people, not the regime.
@@Vince1648 You talked about the western politicians, And about that is my comment.
specially through Iran!
Wow! I want to visit all these countries. First of all, is Georgia! Hope to do bike trip there next year )
We hope you will get to do that 🙏🏼 All the Best & Tailwinds, E&M
Loved this video, number 6 is the incredible netherlands 🇳🇱 amazing hospitality I have never found anywhere else , more netherlands please 😀.
😊 Haha, thanks David. NL is pretty special! Lovely to hear a foreign perspective on our Lowlandic areas!! All the Best, E&M
@@WheelstoWander look after your self's guys 😇🚴♂️🚴♀️
suggestions:
1. Russia - from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok like a Tran-Siberian bicycle tour
2. USA - they say this big country has everything from deserts, coniferous forests, great plains to rainforests and of course there are also many very interesting cities here
3. Argentina - cycle fromPatagonia to Tierra del Fuego
Great suggestions! We have thought about a couple! Definitely would love to cycle there!! Thanks, E&M
You two could probably pull off a visit to Russia. A tran-siberian would be difficult that is for sure. It is so distant and so many weather zones. The eastern half would require at least one summer and a little more. Getting supplies would be another area of concern. The USA would look easy by comparison.
Tandem cycling is one of the most amazing inclusive sports activity. Being a sports and travel enthusiast with visual impairment, I would like to work to develop/improve inclusive sports and accessible tourism in India. It would be so great if I could talk to you and hear from you
Great suggestions. My new bike is in the room listening this this with me. It has only been 50km from home so far, but wwe want to see the world. I would not have thought of Japan. Thanks for the suggestions
Great stuff - it's always better getting information from the people who have done it for reel. Iran & Tajikistan, Georgia and Turkmenistan are on my list too, for the Silk road route. Maybe it will happen I hope. Bless you both
Thanks Mark! We hope your dreams will come true 🙏🏼 All the Best, E&M
@@WheelstoWander My GP says I'm doing fine. A few weeks to get my jabs though and to tell my new job I need a few months off...lol. It can only go well. I got a new camera and radio mic, usb chargeable and my solar unit is ready to install for the trailer. I will make a video soon about it all. Plus training for the long rides indoors and out.
Good to see you without bike. Keep it up.
Thanks Shabbir!! All the Best
All that Cycling keeps you Slim.
It kinda does ;)
The World has a lot to offer when barriers are taken down and people share their creativity with one another the learning never ends.
Hi I love your videos! Do you have any plans to continue cycling if/when Covid is finished?
Thanks Wessel! Yeah, we do... if only the whole situation would improve! All the best, E&M
I enjoy seeing all that my home country has to offer. The United States never gets old. Desert, white beaches, majestic mountains, forests, golden plains, Golden Gate, The city that never sleeps, The windy city, the big apple & on and on and on...
it's a pity that we only hear of the grim side of your country, the guns, the racism, the inequality, the tragic state of the indigenous peoples on the reservations, the wars...
@@kc3718 you can find bad history in every place on this planet.
Come to south america some day !
That would be awesome Paulo 😊
I'd love to cycle Iran so much! Unfortunately my passport blocks me from ever going... hopefully something changes in the future!
Let's hope so Oscar 🙏🏼 I'll bet you'd love Iran! All the Best
Sure u can teravel to iran as u s citizen
Ha ha, good job Dynamic Duo. I am told Netherlands has the best cycle infra anywhere in Europe, so when will you be back on the road or has your journey come to an end? BTW thanks for sharing.
Maudis voice is so chilling :D
Graçi 🤭
Great video Eric & Maudi, thanks. Question: I know it depends on the terrain, the weather etc, but how many kilometers did you average per day? Did you have hub dynamos, or, use battery-powered lights? What's your opinion of hub dynamos for bike touring? All the best, Oschi from Munich
Hi Oschi! Thanks 😊 Our average distance a day was around 60km. The bike lights we use are usb rechargeable and we only used them when necessary. We are looking at ways to make our camping lights also our bike lights to save on gear/weight. We are really interested in hub dynamos, especially for topping up the smartphones for navigation purposes. Hope this helps! All the Best, E&M
