Also a tip to anyone cycling through Europe, Switzerland is the best country I've ever cycled in, don't be afraid of elevation or of their crazy prices! The Swiss are incredibly outdoorsy so finding somewhere to camp was easy, even if looking in a residential area I was always offered some land to pitch my tent often without even asking. There are bike trails all over the country and smooth concrete switchbacks if you want to take it easier on the ways up. If you're worried about the prices, I easily went a month there without paying for any accomodation, and lived quite comfortably on less than $5 a day - just stick to going to Lidl! Best wildcamp of my life was pushing my bike up past Zermatt and sleeping on the side of the Matterhorn. Not to be missed!
Agree! The discount supermarket + wild camping combo makes Switzerland the same price as any in the region. Plus the landscapes are absolutely jaw-dropping...
@@Cyclingabout Switzerland sounds really awesome!!! I've met Swiss people on my adventures and they are great travellers!!! All the best from Canada!!! 🇨🇦 🚲

And whats traveling without eating local? Try to avoid mountain passes on weekends in the peak season. Even you don't like Switzerland you can reach a neighbor country within a day. All neighbors are also worth a visit anyway.

Nice to hear you had no problem camping where you pleased but I wouldn't be surprised if people were calling the local police to tell you to buzz off. While it is an incredibly beautiful country, you certainly pay for your stay, even if you bivouac.
I'm an American who has toured approximately 35,000 miles over 40 years in several different countries. The six months I spent in Australia was my favorite tour and the first time I used a mtn bike. Everyone who visits there will see animals and plants like no where else in the world and the people are very welcoming. I also really enjoyed New Zealand for the same reasons. Another place I really enjoyed for the remoteness and wilderness is Northern Canada and Alaska. A coast to coast ride across Canada in the summer is an unforgettable. I've been all over the U.S. but it is getting to scary with the amount of traffic. One exception is a ride along the Continental Divide route which is mostly gravel road or the Trans America Trail (an off-road motorcycle route) again mostly gravel. I did the Baja Divide route recently and agree, once you get passed the border towns, the Mexicans are very welcoming people.
I've been watching all videos of you @cyclingabout and now I've seen this and I'm thrilled. I'm Turkish and I've cycled around many parts of Turkey but seeing such an appreciation makes me really happy!
I feel like New Zealand is a really underrated pick. Whenever I read a blog with mixed opinions on NZ, it’s because they’ve stuck to the main roads. You can cross most of the country on quiet off-road tracks and the diversity of scenery in such a small area is unreal. I guessed Tajikistan would be #1, never would’ve expected Turkey! Gutted than I can’t visit Iran as a UK passport holder though.
Agree. NZ's best spots are generally away from the busier highways anyway, but there's a fair bit of inconsiderate driving here, so that's another great reason to head down quieter roads. The whole Covid thing has forced Kiwis to explore NZ, so that's helping locals become wiser about life on the road.
Italy is my absolute favourite, because of the change of landscape, beautiful cities, density of very good small roads, food, wine, accomodations and weather. Last time I was there, I made a 500 km trip from Bari to Lamezia Terme, both airport cities. For this year a trip from Bergamo to Pisa was planned, but I think it will be canceled..
Amazing video, as always! You must try Portugal! It has the third longest road in the world (738kms) and it's right in the middle of the country from the southest point to the northest point. You will find the most diverse landscapes, with tons of lakes for you to bathe in and everyone will offer you food if they see you or acommodation. It was my best bike trip ever.
My top three are The Netherlands (or Holland), The United States, and Belgium. Holland was an absolute revelation for me. Fantastic cycling paths with dedicated signage, easy cycling in the cities, beautiful countryside, lots of camping, history, friendly people, spectacular food, wonderful beers, and the most laid-back and welcoming spirit anywhere.

Just want to say thanks for your channel ive been watching a bit lately and not only have you inspired me to get a bike and start to go for rides, i really cant wait to combine that with my love of camping (well, when we are allowed to again). A year ago I never would have considered taking a bike touring holiday now its all I want to do!
While the exotic is always exciting, it is also so satisfying to get from your doorstep to somewhere farther away and slowly seeing everything change. So you really shouldn't think that it is not worth to go on a bike tour when you can't go to an exotic place :)
Thanks for sharing. I had a great time touring in the UK just outside peak season - lots of quiet roads, old walls and picturesque bucolic vistas. Short distances between food and refreshments too! I am surprised that SE Asia was not represented in the top ten.
Alex! I hope you're doing amazingly. I'm enjoying the inspiration your content gives me. Every time I see you pop up on my feed you remind me I'd like to make a bike trip around Taiwan someday!
My wife and I cycled Canada to South America a few years ago on a tandem. We absolutely loved Colombia for cycling. Every day we would be passed by group rides with 10’s of people in the ride.
It was very nice to met you today Ale, thanks for the small talk we have today. You really inspire me with your travels. Any thing you need don't hesitate to ask for👋 🍀 🚲
Great video, thanks for sharing! I only have experience in Europe. We very much appreciated Portugal and Sardinia (Italie). Nice people and beautiful landscapes with quiet country roads. I'm not french, but living in France for 30 years now, if you want a country with all possible landscapes and cultures, it is the place to cycle ! And a small word about my native country, the Netherlands, if you want to meet other persons on a bike, and if you like separate cycling roads just everywhere !
You deserve waaay more subs! I am just starting my journey with long term cycling, I cycled for 60km in one day last week for the first time in my life 💪 I am currently in Germany and they also have great routes!
My wife and I rode LEJOG (Lands End to John O'Groats) from the bottom of England to the top of Scotland in 2018. SUSTRANS have done a wonderful job with routes that include designated bicycle paths, canal towpaths and very quiet country roads. It was a magnificent journey with such diversity of the country, incredible history and wonderful pubs!
I wholeheartedly agree. Since 2011, Norway is the only country I cycled, it is just sooo beautiful and convenient (quality water everywhere, fairytale tent spots, easy legal situations for bikepackers)
This was like a virtual bike adventure in the midst of the lockdown. It felt so good. Thanks for the compilation. I have Pamir highway on my list for later this year. Hoping the pandemic would end before then. Cheers!
Awesome! You'll love the Pamir Highway, hopefully, you can get there sooner rather than later as it gets insanely cold and snowed over in the shoulder season (early-October from memory).
thanks for the massive effort putting out content for us to consume on lockdown :) Norway is a pretty special place to cycle, and USA is so huge it kind of has everything for everyone- haven't cyclo toured anywhere else but have Canada (w/Alaska and GDMBR), Patagonia/Chile, and Japan on the list! take care
Spent a week cycling in Norway. Big plus is the amazing standard and curtesy of the drivers. A point which is not mentioned and can spoil an otherwise excellent country. Ps. I come fro UK, and would avoid England, though the north of Scotland is superb....just travel faster than the midges!
My top countries for cycling are Switzerland, Norway and the Netherlands. Yep, in that order. If I was asked to pick only one country to cycle the rest of my days, I would pick Switzerland. Swiss Alps are so beautiful!
I rode the East coast cycling path in South Korea and thought it was great. I also did the Four Rivers and Jeju island. I'm interested in the West coast and seeing different islands there. Are you saying you only liked the Four Rivers path or is it the only area you got to see?
How long ago? South NZ used to be great, but the roads there are so busy now. Unlike many other countries, they have not built new highways to take the traffic off the old roads.
I do agree that completely most interesting cultural experience ,warm welcoming, unique geographical experience will be adjourning you in Turkey. What a option you willing to have with gastronomical offer in different cities in Turkey. Enjoy your bike rides all over the word but give yourself a favor to stop by in Turkey once in your lifetime. Respect......
My favorite 3 cycling regions/countries: 1.backroads of Languedoc in Southern France 2. Fouta Djallon highlands in Guinea 3. NW coast of Sumatra south of Aceh ; Turkey was another favorite, but I’m glad that it was already mentioned.
Nice compilation and I'm sorry for missing your survey, but here is my top 3 (so difficult to choose though): 1- Iran (amazing hospitality, history and landscape) 2- Japan (cool culture, delicious food, beautiful nature) 3- Brazil (I'm a little biased here but it's great, especially for a local) Cheers, @bikesutras #peaceandbici
I know it's the EU but one of the best countries for kindness and still very nice to travel in and fast travel, the Netherlands, I was given free camping, offered free food invited into a Dutch couples home, another couple to camp in there garden, because the camp site was full ,not just help with directions, but people taken the time out to go the wrong direction for them 3 miles back the way they had come just to put me on the right track, and the best cycling infrastructure on the planet, yes its not the alps or the Pyrenees but the enjoyment factor was brilliant, thank you to the lovely people I had the opportunity to talk with and for your kindness.
This is the ghost in the room. The No. 1 place for cycling is of course, where else?, the Netherlands! particularly for families wanting an easy holiday.
@@tomdavid7372 NL is THE best. If you can't alter your routes on the go, bring anyone like children or disabled, and are stuck spending hours on Google Maps just to avoid 20 wheel lorries it just ain't great.
Mind absolutely blown open in the happiest way! Alee thank you so much for this - unwittingly it turns out that several of the places I’ve most wanted to visit are on this list - but I’d told myself they would be too remote or inhospitable or difficult.
For people living in Europa who don’t want to fly; check Spain. I’ve cycled trough most of Europe. Spain is my favorite. Very nice and helpful people, amazing countryside and very respectful towards cyclists
Good paths. But Sweden and Norway disease bearing ticks, and some below zero weather from September to June . Stockholm, 2021, its May 1, in the weather forecast is snow and 13 m/s wind for next week
My top countries so far are Mexico, Colombia and El Salvador. I have not cycled in most of the countries on that list yet, but they are on my bucket list.
The food was a factor, but mostly it was the spectacular coastline and fairly good roads with little traffic. I could have used more of El Salvador on my Central America trip ;). I guess spending more time there on a future trip would be the way to go.
I've done a lot of touring, but almost all in Europe, though I cycled Cape Breton Island in Canada, once. I've been to none of your top 10 countries. I've toured most of Ireland (I'm Irish), a lot of England, a little in Wales, many times in Scotland, numerous times in France, Spain, Germany, also in Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Italy, Sardinia, Corsica, Greece, Andorra, Denmark. My longest tours have been 17 days but I've done 87 tours in all. My favourite places in all of these. 1.Camino de Santiago, in Spain. 2. West Coast of Scotland. 3. Coast of Co.Cork and Kerry, Ireland. 4. Corsica. 5. Bordeaux to Nice, France. 6. Mosel plus some of Rhine, Germany. 7.Strasbourg to Nice, France. 8. Malaga to Sevile and back, Spain. 9. Lands End to John O'Groates, End to end uk. Done 4 times. 10. Tour of Yorkshire, UK.
Watch this video at 0.75x speed with English subtitles if you are a foreign language (this is the best way to improve your English;). You will appreciate the landscapes all the more :-)
Ok, I guess now everyone would have their own opinion and rightly so about what country they like but I can't believe Canada's west coast isn't in the list - the rockies, the glaciers, the thousands of km of old railways tracks turned into bike trails, the dempster highway all the way to the shore of the arctic ocean, the okanagan valley, forests, national parks such as the world famous banff, jasper and rain forest of the northwest!.
I've cycled across Europe, through much of Chile, much of India, much of the USA (my home country), and part of Mexico. My favorite so far has been Spain! Spain offers a delightful mix of friendly, laid-back people, beautiful countryside, and functionality -- everything works! It's very safe, yet amazing! If safety is less of a concern, my vote would be for Mexico. I dearly love Mexican culture. The people, food, and environment are all stunning. And on the topic of India, well... I rode through much of India for two months. It was always *hard*. Every little thing was *hard*. But OMFG, the food was fantastic! Dinner was always the saving grace at the end of every day, where everything that went wrong was fixed by the foooood. WOW. Anyway, thank you for a fun video! With the world all canceled, I'm thinking of an unplanned cycling trip in the coming months... :-)
Totally agree with everything you've said. Spain is a nice mix of everything, but perhaps a bit too familiar to home for world tourers. Indian food is the bomb and Mexico has quickly become one of my favourite countries in the world!
@@Cyclingabout I have cycled Spain long ago ... from North to South and East to west and really nice old villages where the old come to the grocery van and give you all goodies and invite you .... was a great way to improve my Spanish Tongue .... Thanks Spain and Catalunya ...
I have just cycled in Portugal and Spain. So I will post the countries I would love to cycle by what I see in your and other youtubers videos. 1. Kyrgistan 2. Patagonia 3. Iran. Cheers
Great list and many of them are on our bucket list. However, having cycled through 30+ countries here are our top three and this is not an easy thing to come up with because each and every place we've explored has it's own special place in our hearts. Ok sorry ... we can't narrow down our list to only 3. ~Ron
Great work on this! Such a hard thing to narrow down to just a few countries, but that is the nature of top ten lists. It does seem to be skewed toward the huge, vast and varied countries with large, areas of low population density - very memorable tours in my experience (7 of 10 here), in part because they were such a substantial undertaking. Like if you had to choose just one country you would want the really epic ones. Which does leave smaller serving size yet still awesome countries behind. Maybe a list of "must see" countries to tour?
I've done two bike trips in Indonesia, around 25 years go. 2 Month's Maluku islands from Ambon to Morotai, and 2 month's North Sulawesi/Sanger-Talaud islands. Best times ever, super friendly people.
My wife and I did 15days bikepacking Sth Island, NZ in March and thought it was amazing! Flying into Christchurch, we rode up to Mt Cook National Park via Darfield, Rakaia Gorge, Geraldine, Fairlie, and up the west side of Lake Pukaki. From Mt Cook National Park, we took the chopper over the Tasman Gorge then down to Oamaru along the Alps2Ocean Trail. I can't wait to return and do the Tour Aotearoa from north to south!
Great video. Thank you. I'm really surprised that Ireland wasn't on the list. The Wild Atlantic Way is outstanding. Second would be Vietnam and Cambodia. Begin on the Mekong Delta, then take a boat with your bikes into Cambodia and finish in Ankor Wat. Outstanding trip and easy no hill roads make it great for family cycling. Third would be the Luberon region of France. Everything there.
Wild atlantic way? Because you will be riding at a 45 degree angle in high winds and pissing rain Orla. Not nice.... Jokes aside, it is beautiful though.
Number one country in Europe! Comes in at #11 according to the people surveyed: www.cyclingabout.com/top-10-countries-to-travel-by-bike-according-to-150-continent-crossing-cyclists/
Nice video. I have now put both Turkey and Iran on my own list for future bike trips. My own favourites are: Tibet (HImalayas), Italy and Israel (Negev Desert).
Hi! The best country to cycle in Europe is Spain. Reading the commentary juste before mine, saying Switzerland is great... I'm Swiss. Just travelled in october 2020 from Geneva to Podgorica passing trough german Bavaria, the Austrian Alps and Croatia. In Switzerland, too much trafic and prices are crazy! Croatia is very nice, but there also, there is trafic (even in the small roads). About Turkey, I agree. I cycled from Geneva to Damascus in 1990: great! Not easy though! Spain is the empty country and safe, and secure! Crossed last summer from Malaga to Pamplona in 8 days and 48 hours: fantastic!
Doing Kattegat trail in Sweden atm. It first trip in bicycle with I love. Realized it best option to speed all weekends. Will definitely use your top list for future trips. It will be interesting to know more about planing trail for each country! Wishing a tail wind and good luck
We loved Thailand when we biked though there. The food was fantastic and the people were always smiling. The cost of cycling there was good as well. It is hot at times.
We really enjoyed this interesting perspective on cycling the world, particularly the epic videos. Our top 3 favorite countries to cycle are Taiwan, Taiwan and Taiwan. :)
Hard to pick three absolute fave countries to pedal in, but India, Indonesia, France and Mexico (I know, that’s four already) would definitely be top contenders.
Japan Israel the Philippines. To be far as long as your riding anywhere is amazing cause they're is nothing like being on a bike especially in good weather.
May I enquire since when is that part of the World your country turkey? Because, for all I know, it was Byzantium & the Great Armenia prior to the seljuk invasion. And now it's "turkey". The plan is to turn Europe into "turkey", too - or is it not?
@@LeoInterHyenaem This is true. In Anatolia in past a lot of civilations rised and gone. Now kurdish and turkish people living here. I dont want to talk about nations. just visit, enjoy and see how this lands are rich about all cultures. we all will be gone dude.
I have cycled the pan American highway from Deadhorse to Cusco in Peru. I agree that Mexico is a beautiful and mesmerizing country, and Peru is extraordinary for its ancient civilization and stunning landscapes. I was surprised not to see Canada on the list especially BC and the Yukon. There are the last of the ancient forests on earth and absolute paradise.
We just finished cycling Turkey at the end of last year, never really saw the appeal of it myself. There were kind people but then for every kind person we'd meet there'd be someone who'd try to scam us or would make us sit through some nationalistic speech about how Turkey is perfect, and the greatest country on earth. We only followed the north coast and so we probably missed out on loads but the roads going east were full of shrapnel giving us regular punctures and lorries passing wayy too close then blowing the horn in our ears to say hi. Also given the level of population density we found finding wild camp spots incredibly difficult. Not quite my cup of tea 🤷♂️
I guess everyone has a different experience. I don't remember any nationalistic speeches, scamming, difficulty finding campsites, close passing traffic or punctures (I definitely had zero). I personally had a difficult time in Georgia though, which is often touted as a favourite in the region. I think a series of bad luck, meeting the wrong people and harsh weather conditions contributed to this. As soon as I crossed into Azerbaijan it was like a massive weight had been lifted off my shoulders - making me later realise that I was probably in the wrong mindset to enjoy Georgia all along... next time!
@@Cyclingabout I think the time we went to Turkey may have affected things, we were there when Turkey had just invaded Syrian Kurdistan so that might've made some more adversarial towards Europeans. I remember one of the days we were there it was Turkish independence day so we bought big Turkish flags to fly from our bikes - at a petrol station a man came over and forcefully pulled our bikes towards him so he could adjust our Turkish flags to make sure they were flying perfectly upright 😅 Can definitely relate with Georgia though - we also had lots of crap weather and the driving was even worse than Turkey. If you go back I'd recommend ditching the bike and going hiking in the mountains as those have been our best days in Georgia by far!
i am from Turkey and you described perfectly. i live those everyday. But some place are better. Çanakkale for example. Because bike / motorcyle culture. Most of northerns don't ride 2 wheel vehicle in traffic ever. So they don't know passing bike close is how disturbing. So both of you right. And next time i suggest Cappadocia, Muğla or Çanakkale. peace!
@@maviodun Yeah if we go back we'll definitely visit Cappadocia, we avoided the highlands when we went as it was already winter but I'd definitely like to see another side of the country :)
Turkey is Amazing! I personally found the best: 1) Pakistan. People = awesome and the nature in the north is just stunning!! 2) Turkey as you said 3) Tajikistan for the remoteness, challenge and adventure on the pamir highway
Interesting set! It largely depends what are we looking. For me more important than wild nature, mountains etc. is cultural heritage. I used to like rough travels so indeed Turkey, Iran (also Armenia, Georgia) were so great! Polite people, rich culture, cuisine, also great and diverse nature. For me Europe is the best when we look for diversity, because we have so many cultures there, languages. We can ride between Norwegian Fjords one day, the second ride through flat Netherland bicycle routes and the third swim on Normandy plages. Asia is also diverse, sure but from my perspective differences between riding in UK, France, Germany, Poland are much bigger - and distances much shorter.
Thanks Alee, another informative and fantastic video! I've been cycling for years and I live in the Canberra region. Your channel has inspired me to start touring, so during this lock down period I've purchased another bike and the associated gear. I'm looking forward to hitting the road later this year when the restrictions have relaxed and I have some leave. Thanks so much for opening my eyes to another facet of cycling, that I'd never considered before 🙂.
Yes, it’s certainly a great place to start. I’m looking at riding to Orange over 3 days, then return. It should be a good test of the new bike and gear!
"Epic" cycle tourists that travel the world probably crave exotic and new places where prices are good and it's easy to camp. Europe is great for credit card touring and for its expansive cycle routes, but it's not so friendly on the world-traveler budget, nor friendly to wild camping.
shredfreak83 Atleast around Germany and neighboring countries this hardly ever happens. And even then the next camping ground is usually like maximum another hour away.
@@Dooojooo And in Scandinavia and Finland and the baltics etc. you have "everyman's right" - so you can camp whereever provided you follow the ettiquette, e.g. don't set up a fire in a forest when there are forest fire warnings.. keep your distance from houses, and keep your rubbish. You'll also find a network of free cottages and lean to shelters in some areas. Iceland is a great place to cycle. From north eastern Finland to Norway as well.
@@ZenoLee0 I do most of my touring in Germany as that's where I live and I basically always camp wild and never had any trouble, I rarely even get approached. Just be considerate and not overly stupid and you should be fine.

My wife and I cycled Canada to South America a few years ago on a tandem. We absolutely loved Colombia for cycling. Every day we would be passed by group rides with 10’s of people in the ride.
You have to check Rwanda!! I did a race around Rwanda and i was blown away!
I'm super keen to go. I'll hopefully get to see most of Africa after I finish in Alaska.
It was very nice to met you today Ale, thanks for the small talk we have today. You really inspire me with your travels. Any thing you need don't hesitate to ask for👋 🍀 🚲
Thanks Yarvick! Was cool to have you stop me and say hi. Even if it was from a few metres away. 😅
Thanks for focusing on the places and people... and not yourself. Too many travel videos are outlets for egos. Good job!
You deserve waaay more subs! I am just starting my journey with long term cycling, I cycled for 60km in one day last week for the first time in my life 💪 I am currently in Germany and they also have great routes!
You got this! It's the best way to see the world. Promise.
I'll hopefully get over there one day to ride some version of LEJOG!
My top 3 countries for cycling are: 1 Norway, 2 Norway, 3 Norway. There's no landscapes like in Norway. Greetings from Poland
Poland is good too. The Eagles Nest route is great for history nerds like me.
I wholeheartedly agree. Since 2011, Norway is the only country I cycled, it is just sooo beautiful and convenient (quality water everywhere, fairytale tent spots, easy legal situations for bikepackers)
@@TheMornox Yes, Norway is great for bicycle touring/bikepacking, but it has one disadvantage - it's expensive.
True and the streets are pretty empty but god are they in a perfect shape. You can get to the farthest and highest place and the road will be 👌🏿👌🏿
@@TheMornox I'm convinced!!! Norway sounds perfect!!! Thx. 👍
@@Cyclingabout Thanks for the reply!!! I have August or September in mind.
thanks for the massive effort putting out content for us to consume on lockdown :)
Norway is a pretty special place to cycle, and USA is so huge it kind of has everything for everyone- haven't cyclo toured anywhere else but have Canada (w/Alaska and GDMBR), Patagonia/Chile, and Japan on the list!
take care
*C O N S U M E*
Spent a week cycling in Norway. Big plus is the amazing standard and curtesy of the drivers. A point which is not mentioned and can spoil an otherwise excellent country.
Ps. I come fro UK, and would avoid England, though the north of Scotland is superb....just travel faster than the midges!
My top countries for cycling are Switzerland, Norway and the Netherlands. Yep, in that order. If I was asked to pick only one country to cycle the rest of my days, I would pick Switzerland. Swiss Alps are so beautiful!
Last year I rode Budapest to Amsterdam...loved Slovakia, Poland, Germany
I see you like headwinds
France, Spain, Germany are my top three out of about 10 visited while cycle-touring.
Great picks! I love those three too.
Nice video !
Norway, China, Mongolia for us, after our "half world tour" and locked down in New Zealand.
France, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea (but only on the Four Rivers Cycle Route)
I rode the East coast cycling path in South Korea and thought it was great. I also did the Four Rivers and Jeju island. I'm interested in the West coast and seeing different islands there. Are you saying you only liked the Four Rivers path or is it the only area you got to see?
Japan and Taiwan for sure. Mostly smooth roads and paths that are designed just for cyclists!
I thought New Zealand would have made it.
Loved riding around the south island
How long ago? South NZ used to be great, but the roads there are so busy now. Unlike many other countries, they have not built new highways to take the traffic off the old roads.
@@michaelholland8693 I'm sorry to hear that, when I last rode around the South Island, back in 1993, it was pure heaven!

South India is incredible, completely different from the North, not to be missed and one of the highlights of my entire life!

My favorite 3 cycling regions/countries: 1.backroads of Languedoc in Southern France 2. Fouta Djallon highlands in Guinea 3. NW coast of Sumatra south of Aceh ; Turkey was another favorite, but I’m glad that it was already mentioned.
Nice compilation and I'm sorry for missing your survey, but here is my top 3 (so difficult to choose though):
1- Iran (amazing hospitality, history and landscape)
2- Japan (cool culture, delicious food, beautiful nature)
3- Brazil (I'm a little biased here but it's great, especially for a local)
Cheers,

Iran and Japan are in my top-3 for the same reasons. 🤘🏼
You could litterly go in thousands of different directions and have an awesome time! Hostels to hotels have proper cycle parking too!
You don't even need a map. Just keep on cycling on awesome city and rural cycleways until you find accommodation, unless you want something specific.
Mind absolutely blown open in the happiest way! Alee thank you so much for this - unwittingly it turns out that several of the places I’ve most wanted to visit are on this list - but I’d told myself they would be too remote or inhospitable or difficult.
Fantastic! If other people can do it, so can you! 😃
CYCLINGABOUT So nice to be encouraged and supported, deep blessing for the energy that you bring to this and all your videos, thank you xox
So many amazing options! Great to see a little bit through the eyes of those who were there! Thanks, :-)
For people living in Europa who don’t want to fly; check Spain. I’ve cycled trough most of Europe. Spain is my favorite. Very nice and helpful people, amazing countryside and very respectful towards cyclists
Spain is one of my favourites too!
Great vid! Can't wait for the next one! And to jump back on my bike once this madness is over!
Where are you going, or where do you hope to go, one you get back on your bike again?

Kyrgyzstan made it!!!!! YAY! Great video, Alee. Gotta tick off some of those destinations soon. =)
Kyrgyzstan is definitely my favourite country in Central Asia. 💕
Ahh I must say Tajikistan is my #1 :) This amazing plateau at 4'000m - where we bumped into each other by chance
There are many beautiful countries for cycling I personally like Sweden, Norway and Finland.
Rv 17 in Norway is recommended, also known as the coastal road, and add Lofoten, Senja and Andøya. Bring full rain gear though.
Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Made for cycling miles and miles of cycle paths, remoteness, Sami culture ....
Good paths. But Sweden and Norway disease bearing ticks, and some below zero weather from September to June . Stockholm, 2021, its May 1, in the weather forecast is snow and 13 m/s wind for next week
France, New Zealand and Laos are all time favourites :D
Done 8 out of 10, Iran and China on my list. MY 3 Favourite countries India Turkey Chile
Amazing! I just need to cycle across the USA (my next country) and I'll have comprehensively seen the top-10 as well!
@@Cyclingabout Nice! USA easy for you. Stuck in Las Vegas now, once is open for cycling im doing Continental Divide. CHEERS
My top countries so far are Mexico, Colombia and El Salvador. I have not cycled in most of the countries on that list yet, but they are on my bucket list.
El Salvador is an unusual pick! What did you like about it in particular? Be honest, was it the pupusas? 🤤
I agree, those are some great destinations! I still haven't travelled the UK/Ireland by bike, but am super keen to get there one day soon.
did ring of kerry, ring of beara, and achill island, beautiful places
@@cherepaha3 Me too. Ring of Beara fabulous.

Hi Alex,
For us it is China, Iran, Thailand, Lao, France, Moroco, Sri Lanka that sum's it up
On Roule La boule
They're all great picks!
What a great list of countrys. its videos like this that are pushing me more towards bikepacking, love em.
I hope you can get out there soon!
Thanks for a great video. What an inopportune time to hit me with international wanderlust!
Thanks a lot for choosing my India as one of the best places for cycling!
Yeah I felt great about it.
Absolutely wonderful country
1. Kyrgistan
2. Patagonia
3. Iran.
Cheers
I don't think you'll be disappointed with any of those destinations!
Great rides and great video, as always, keep up the great job
If a country can offer more variation in terrain, landscapes, cultures and epic journey possibilities - doesn't that inherently make it better? 😊
I really enjoyed bike traveling to France, Denmark & Norway. Definitely worth!
OK, I'm sold. My wife really wants to do some serious bike riding but I have been quite apprehensive about it.
Great! Best way to see the world. 😎
Rick Randazzo ..praise you wife .....and keep her a secret .... otherwise another male cyclist will steal her from you .
Thanks for the inspiring video.
Much Love from Indonesia...👍👍
I've done two bike trips in Indonesia, around 25 years go. 2 Month's Maluku islands from Ambon to Morotai, and 2 month's North Sulawesi/Sanger-Talaud islands. Best times ever, super friendly people.
Awesome video, thank you!
NZ is amazing! I did my first solo bike trip - very similar trip to yours - when I was a wee teenager. 🙏🏼
Great
Great video.
I was surprised that Scotland was not on the list. Beautiful cycling country
I vote for 1) Peru, 2) Colombia and 3) Scotland
Love those three picks. 💕
Now I am REALLY glad I've already done Turkey. Now I can stop! Actually I am doing my home country, Canada now. That should last a lifetime.
I love Thailand too!
Always fantastic to watch your videos so inspiring.

Japan Israel the Philippines. To be far as long as your riding anywhere is amazing cause they're is nothing like being on a bike especially in good weather.
It is nice to see my country Turkey on the top of the list. Thanks for the video. Its informative.

I agree, and there are too much loose dogs too.
My personal top 5 are in this order - 1. Canada, 2. Peru, 3. Iceland, 4. France, 5. Oman.
Naoh ...Oman ? Cycling o.k. ?
Turkey is Amazing!
I personally found the best:
1) Pakistan. People = awesome and the nature in the north is just stunning!!
2) Turkey as you said
3) Tajikistan for the remoteness, challenge and adventure on the pamir highway
That's awesome you've been inspired to start touring. Canberra is a great base for adventures!
Yes, it’s certainly a great place to start. I’m looking at riding to Orange over 3 days, then return. It should be a good test of the new bike and gear!
Only tried Malasia so far but it was awesome. Great people and so much great food.
Strange that none in Europe made it top into that list. However, myself I like Europe.
"Epic" cycle tourists that travel the world probably crave exotic and new places where prices are good and it's easy to camp. Europe is great for credit card touring and for its expansive cycle routes, but it's not so friendly on the world-traveler budget, nor friendly to wild camping.
@@ZenoLee0 unless you book in advance you risk that campgrounds are full, that makes it very unfriendly for travelling cross country.
shredfreak83 Atleast around Germany and neighboring countries this hardly ever happens.
I'd recommend visiting Altai republic in Russia, I've had one of the best bike trips there. The landscapes are remarkable, you can create a route almost of any difficulty (from pure asphalt route to some quite challenging offroads experience), and the people are nice.

Oh man... the pacific coast road is super dangerous... I biked it, and every trailer that passes you, you think it’s going to kill you.... I’ve been hit twice by bad drivers... Colorado though is fantastic. Every driver is also a bike rider, so they give you the distance...
Interesting selection. Altho' from Australia, I would've included NZ, Canada, and UK before Australia.
I Live in Indonesia and have completed many tours of Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Plenty to recommend - climate, sites, beaches, mountains...plus ease of touring...always somewhere cheap to stay, lovely people. I'd also recommend Sri Lanka for a top tour.
