I'm with you on the frosting. I've dislike pretty much every cake frosting I've ever had save for when I've I've had except for whipped cream or cream cheese (especially the whipped kind) frosting

I made this cake and it is delicious, not so sweet just like I like it 😋 One tip: I don't have non-stick cake pans so on the ones I used I rub some butter and cocoa powder instead of flour so edges won't look white.

Hi Beth, I am a super duper fan of your channel and you off course..! I have tried so many of your recipes and they have worked beautifully for me. I have made this chocolate cake so many times but recently instead of the 3 pans you mentioned I tried to make it in 2 round pans (with straight edge). Not sure but the cake is sinking in the center, can you help me figure out what could be the problem?

That cake looks wonderful and I love the cake lifter it's awesome. Do you find you have to rotate your cake pans Beth? Because if I cook more than one pan at a time, they don't bake evenly.
+FitAnge S Ahh great question. I haven't had that experience so I don't rotate. But it might be good to invest in an oven thermometer to make sure your oven runs consistently "at temp" you'd be surprised how "off" ovens can be. +Yuii Koh actually something lighter like grapeseed oil would be better. Butter has too much water in it and won't make the cake as moist and light, and olive oil is too heavy. But Grapeseed oil, Canola Oil or Corn Oil would be other good replacements :)
+Clarissa Machado Water makes the cake lighter. I find milk has too much fat in it and weighs down the cake. So for anything where I want a really light crumb like cakes and muffins, I always use water :)

And I was just going to call it "Easy Entertaining" but then this person said naww you're name should be in it, how about "Entertaining with Beth" :) So I just went with that ha!

Oooh this reminds me so much of my childhood! My birthday cakes were always made by either my grandma or my mother, and they were ALWAYS chocolate ones hahaha Btw, a little sugestion: sub that hot water for hot coffee, makes all the difference ;)

hi Beth.. what if i forgot to put the cocoa powder with the chocolate bar? i just mix the cocoa powder with dry ingredients (flour etc). will it make any difference?

Beth. I still havent yet made it. Do you know how cocoa powder is sold in Italy. A friend is in Tuscany and while she knows I love m&ms from the airport I want to start collecting some arsenal for future baking ..any ideas. p.s I thought your jumper was really fun and whimsical..can you wear it again while doing similar decorations . That cake looks wonderful and I love the cake lifter it's awesome. Do you find you have to rotate your cake pans Beth? Because if I cook more than one pan at a time, they don't bake evenly.
+FitAnge S Ahh great question. I haven't had that experience so I don't rotate. But it might be good to invest in an oven thermometer to make sure your oven runs consistently "at temp" you'd be surprised how "off" ovens can be. Hi Beth, if I bake all the batter at once by using a 9 inch round cake pan (23cmx8cm), how long should I bake it and at what temperature ? Because in my country it is difficult to find a cake pan like yours.

Oh sure I typically will refrigerate a cake like this, then 45 mins before serving place on the countertop to come to room temperature. Hope you enjoy!

+Yuii Koh actually something lighter like grapeseed oil would be better. Butter has too much water in it and won't make the cake as moist and light, and olive oil is too heavy. But Grapeseed oil, Canola Oil or Corn Oil would be other good replacements :)

+Clarissa Machado Water makes the cake lighter. I find milk has too much fat in it and weighs down the cake. So for anything where I want a really light crumb like cakes and muffins, I always use water :)
