    Hello and wanted to Thank You for all the excellent tutorials on the 15-CW series.
    I want to follow all your instructions in one go for my 2 year 15-CW. I want to clean the fan & change the thermal paste, upgrade the ram, HDD and SSD, change the battery. In what sequence should I do everything since I want to do all these things in one sitting? And finally how should I back up everything including the BIOS before hand?
    Thank You!

      regarding your question: no need to back up BIOS or anything.
      the order i recommend is the following:
      #1. service and repaste
      #2. ssd upgrade m.2
      #3. upgrade HDD to 2tb (optional)
      #4. install WINDOWS 10 FRESH install no cloning:

      I will definitely do both to support your amazing channel. If I leave the M.2 SSD as is and just upgrade the 1TB HDD to any 4TB 2.5 inch SSD- Can I skip step 4 and back up everything to an External HDD instead? I can then just copy everything back to the new 4TB SSD. This way I can upgrade the RAM as step 4 completing everything in one go without having to open the laptop again.
      I have an older windows office 2013 license transferred from my older dell laptop that I don't want to lose as I'm on my allowed final machine with this HP 15-CW hence why I'm trying to avoid reinstalling Windows 10.
      Thank You!

      @agere24 2 года назад +1

      Also I have the HP 15-cw1063wn. Will ANY 4TB or less 2.5 inch SSD work or will I have to measure and compare the thickness with the existing 1 TB HDD? How about the ram? Should I go with a 2400 or 2666 Mhz and what's the max efficient GB you recommend that I go with in the empty slot that compliments the exising 8gb Ram that's already in the other since I plan to leave that alone?
      I guess a link for both ( SSD and RAM) would help me tremendously :)

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  2 года назад

      You can do a disc cloning using Macrium Reflect program, copy and paste wont work. if you want to skip step 4. then download Macrium Reflect and get your self a sata to usb adapter and clone your main drive to the new one and then replace them,
      amzn.to/3p6EXyF
      regarding the size of the SSD all SSDs are the same thickness. dont worry about the thickness of the SSD as long as its a 2.5' ssd you fine.
      amzn.to/33uZdBw
      if you want to know your max ram capacity check this video:
      ruclips.net/video/tKEJTkVth4Q/видео.html
      and get the 2400 or 2666 get the best deal price you wont know the speed differences and the bios will adjust to the max speed that it can handle.
      you can have one 8gb ram 2666 and you can add a 4 or 8 or 16gb 2400 , it will work just fine.

      Samsung nvme evo m.2 ssds are top of the line ssd's they are very long lasting compare to any other brands, they are rock solid.
      amzn.to/37VE8Cs
      once you replace the ssd you will not have any windows or OS in it, so you will need to back up your files in a external storage. and once you placed the new SSD the installing of system is really the most easy part its like installing a program.
      #1. you need a usb stick with 8gb oir 16GB recommended
      #2. you need to download windows 10 media creator: www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10
      (download the : Create Windows 10 installation media)
      then plug the usb and open the program and it will create windows 10 installer in the usb and then once finished power off the laptop place the new ssd and plug in the usb and power on and press ESC key and then choose F9 and then choose your usb and then the rest its easy i will leave you with two links to help you out.

      regarding your question: few thing you should know, if you want to place the 3200mhz ram you must remove and replace the 2600mhz that you have. if you don't remove the 2600mhz and install the 3200 the bios (motherboard) will adjust the higher speed ram to match the lower ram dim, the computer will work just fine and excellent. but if you want to have 3200 the place a single or double 3200 ram. if not don't worry still will work.
      but for your motherboard (Hp 15 cw1063wm) the ram you have installed its a 2666mhz and the bios it has down-clocked it to 2600mhz, that means if you place a single 3200mhz ram the bios will bring it down to what it can handle (2600mhz). the benefit would be that the ram will last you longer as it will not be used at its max speed (longer life span), the cons would be the 3200mhz cost a bit more depending demands.
      here is a 16gb 2666mhz. amzn.to/37cI9Cb

      @@uFixTek that makes sense that it downgrades to 2666. Its my girlfriends laptop and I'm upgrading it for her birthday. I haven't had a chance to open it up yet and there are so many different versions of the HP 15 series. Is this laptop XMP compatible?
      It came with 1x8gb and 1x4gb sticks, the 8gb is slower than tha 4gb, its an all round weird setup out of box.

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  3 года назад

      ya The Cw series don't have XMP on the bios, so you can't manually activate xmp , the bios does the ram optimization on auto, no no matter what speed ram you put it will adjust to the best option, if you put one @1666 and another @3200 the bios will take the lower speed and adjust the 3200 to 1666. but i would recommend you to go with 2666mhz, just make sure she has a nvme ssd and windows is in there. i would upgrade the HDD to SSD and the m.2 to higher GB and NVME.

      you can do any mix match that you wish on the m.2 and ssd sata bay. you can have 4tb on nvme and 4tb on ssa sata . you can clone back and forward but i would not recommend cloning as we have tested soooo many cloning programs and on soomany ssds and combinations, and the results of fresh install of windows its worth 100X over cloning.
      me what i would do is this:
      i would buy this : m.2 ssd adapter usb: amzn.to/3Ad7XHB
      so you can also convert the 128gb to a external super fast usb flash drive :P
      and place the 1tb nvme on the laptop and make SURE you disconnect the flex cable for the 2nd hdd or ssd:imgur.com/a/mXfhoXY
      just till you finished installing windows and once you finished installing power off and plug it back and it will find it as extra storage and this way it wont have any dependence on that drive, because sometime windows 10 linkes to link it self to other hdd that is plugged in during installation.
      here is a video on SSD upgrade: ruclips.net/video/SLzBGWIjX1A/видео.html
      installing windows is really not more than 10min on that nvme 5min i would say, and trust me you will know the difference it take longer to clone and not the same as fresh install,

      How To Install Windows 10 on HP Laptop: ruclips.net/video/7f_rBp6Rb3s/видео.html
      (all hp laptops are the same way of choosing the usb boot, once you created the win 10 usb then plug in and power on and tab on Esc key till you see the the option and choose F9 and the choose your usb) and make sure you follow the steps on the video to get the proper installation.

      Thank you for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P
      regarding your issue: I'm investigating and from top of my head and what i know is that this laptop the issue is not the HDMI version the issue is that the voltage (amplification) its way lower. because it doesn't have a dedicated GPU / and the motherboard components are not suitable for this magnitude.
      if you could do the following trouble shoot for me:
      1. did you try connecting the hdmi to a regular monitor or tv, and if it works yes or no?
      2. when connecting the tablet to the laptop go to the desktop and right click and go to display settings and see if the tablet gets detected there, if so, select the tablet in the display and change the resolution to a mid under 1080p and see how it reacts, if works under 1080p let me know and when you set it to 1080p starts flickering or none responsive let me know, every detail counts.
      3. i'm guessing you dont have a dedicated GPU in the laptop, only the APU.
      technical point of view:
      1. the reason that your laptop would work with hdmni with a regular tv or monitor is that the tv and monitor do send the amplification to the HDMI port to help receiving the signal. and on some portable or tablets even if it has a charger or power source, this amplification is not present at the components level design.
      so in order to deliver this extra power of amplification , you may will end up going to USB type C or usb 3 to HDMI adapter so the extra amplification can be provided thru the USB voltage. make sure you don't cheap out on the adapters :P
      the above assumption or conclusion would be after your give me the trouble shoot info.
      sometimes when lowering the resolution it will require less voltage.
      i hope i could be a help to resolving your situation.
      ps. waiting for the response

    I have read reports that upgrading the memory on the AMD 4500u model with a different brand of memory will not allow it to run at 3200MHz without access to XMP in the BIOS, is this true? Has anyone tried this?

      regarding your question: the brand has nothing to do its the ram speed has to be the same (ram specs must be the same)

      @@uFixTek I will check it tommorow, I dont understand why it is going so slow is it possible the ram is defective. How can I check it.please.

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  3 года назад

      my friend your problem is not the RAM, your bottleneck is in the slow HDD that you have (1TB 5400 rpm SATA),
      you want to make your laptop 4000% faster almost fly, add or replace your mechanical HDD to a SSD NVME.
      trust me you wont regret.
      ruclips.net/video/SLzBGWIjX1A/видео.html
      i know in this video i said no NVME, but its a mistake the laptop can take m.2 sata or m.2 nvme .
      so get a 500gb nvme, and install windows in the nvme m.2 and use your 1tb hdd as an extra storage.
      500gb nvme: amzn.to/3usIqqz
      if you want to know how to install windows here is a video on how to place windows in usb and another video on how to install on HP laptop (all hp laptop install the same way)
      windows 10 usb: ruclips.net/video/uDu8j2lE-dM/видео.html
      install windows 10 to HP: ruclips.net/video/7f_rBp6Rb3s/видео.html
      i can prove that your hdd is the bottleneck in your system, just when you using your laptop and when you feel is slow open task manager by press and hold : Ctrl+Shift+Esc and go to performance tab and you will see that your HDD is working at 100%

    • @uFixTek

      you mean the edge clips?,if so they are at all not important and even with time passes the plastic will become more toasty and more fragile , so its very normal that the tiny around hooks break.

      @uFixTek  2 года назад

      the aluminum case its very soft, it will bend with no force and you can very easy bend it back it. we open many of them weekly if you take you time doing it you may not bend. but its not a big deal, as i said its very soft it will go back as it never happened.
