- Got a request from RUclipsr Clayton Bryington for this excellent album by E.T.
Interestingly all 12 tracks were released on this album only! No singles, ep's, or compilations as far as i can tell. It sucks because I'd really like to have Big City and She Called Me Baby on my jukebox.
I just discovered, 06/12/2020, that there WAS a Compact Jukebox 33 rpm of this album with 6 songs including Big City,, Seeburg 859.
Track listing
1."Big City" (Paul Williams, Sam Humphrey) ~ 0:01
2."Wild Side of Life" (William Warren, Arlie A. Carter) ~ 2:13
3."I Wonder Where You Are Tonight" (Johnny Bond) ~ 5:07
4."Beggar to a King" (J. P. Richardson) ~ 7:34
5."Before I'm Over You" (Betty Sue Perry) ~ 10:09
6."Each Night at Nine" (Floyd Tillman) ~ 12:55
7."Fraulein" (Lawton Williams) ~ 15:18
8."When Two Worlds Collide" (Roger Miller, Bill Anderson) ~ 18:08
9."I've Got a Tiger By the Tail" (Harlan Howard, Buck Owens) ~ 20:43
10."She Called Me Baby" (Harlan Howard) ~ 22:54
11."Tell Her So" (Glen D. Tubb) ~ 25:36
12."Don't Be Angry" (Wade Jackson) ~ 27:53

TELL HER SO

I'VE GOT A TIGER BY THE TAIL
I only listen to country when I drink. My father doesn’t get it. This is music!! I will only quit drinking when I quit this music and vice versa. I won’t stop this is emotion and soul. Greatest artist by a windfall. Thank you so much for posting this. It means a lot to me.
Thanks,, I'm glad you're enjoying it !!
@@2packs4sureI am my friend! Thanks for publishing it. Wonderful!
this is Ernest Tubb!! this is real & honest music.
Come April 5, 2024, I will be 92 yrs old; and 85 yrs ago my dad and I sat up to hear the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. On 650 AM radio. We heard Roy Acuff, Ernest Tubb and many others. Thus it brought tears of nostalgia now; when I hear these old recordings that I dearly loved. May Jesus rests the Precious souls; of all of the "Country Singers".
What a great memory !!
I took my car in to my Polish mechanic's garage for service and his first comment when I picked up the car was I like your music. He had been listening to my CD country selections. This from Koscierzyna, Poland
thank you bring old country style
Glad you enjoyed it.
Great Country Great video and songs . Fantastic.
I have and will cherish this album...as long as I live.
I totally understand,, I've listened to this album probably a 100 times at this point and I still play it several times a year!!

GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A rock in the foundation of country music.
I grew up [early 1970s] listening to E.T. among many other great old time country artiest, my mom used to have a old 8 track player out in the kitchen and I can close my eyes and still hear that music playing. She's gone now but if she was still alive I know she would LOVE this!
Thank you so much for posting this. My aunt is still alive and I'm going to send this link to her, I know she will love it like mom would.
You start to hear Ernest singing a familiar song, thinking it will be stale in his hands. Then listening to it you realise that the master has taught you what the song really means, a very very rare talent. Timeless.
Well said !
My dads favorite artist. Oh how I miss him. thxs for the upload
Good old Ernie Tubb Buck Knives model 110 and Pepsi Cola there's nothing more American.
i love this classic country,i have youtube on every day to listen to classic country
Yeah, if you want a good selection of TRUE classic country from the 1955 - 1968 range,,, then RUclips is the ONLY option I'm aware of....
i just started listening about 3 mo ago and it is the best i love classic grew up with it and i am 75 , that is all we listened to
And if you have an excellent sound system on your computer like I do it's almost as good as a good home stereo..........
Almost.
i do but my comp went out last week so i am using my lapetop till i get my desktop fixed i will take my comp in monday
Well that stinks,, good luck getting it fixed.
Great songs by one of classic country's finest singers and entertainers. Great band! Nothing like classic country music.!
I am 82 and have loved ET since we got a radio when I was 6 in Northern Idaho
I saw Ernest when I was in high school in Oakland CA and also saw him in Omaha NE when I was in the Air Force great show both times I also got to see his son Justin in Carrolton TX
That's awesome !
E.T , Me, and Bufflo Trace. I could not ask for a better Friday night!
+bryan mason E.T. and beer drinking.............. you may not be the first.
Glad you enjoyed it.
And I'm sure I will not be the last!
Ernest, you were my daddy's favorite country singers and mine too!
Special people playing special music
+Dave Spence
Man, YOU GOT THAT RIGHT !
The mid 60's Ernest Tubb and that great band were most definitely special people playing special music.
22:53 GREATEST COUNTRY SONG EVER. Man you have the BEST Country music site PERIOD!!!!!!! LUV IT!!!
You picked a damn good one there and thanks for the thumbs up.
Like I said in the description, NONE of the tracks on this album were ever on a single and I'd kill to have Big City and She Called Me Baby on my jukebox..
I'd have to have a custom made single to do that and it IS possible but I'm way too cheap..
So I guess I'm saying I'd kill but not overspend ???
That ain't good..... :)
thank goodness for RUclips and you too John you cannot find a radio station here in Dallas that played the classic music anymore just want to say John I appreciate you
Yea, if you want 50's and 60's country you HAVE to search for it on You Tube.Back in the 80's through the mid 90's we had an A.M. station in Houston that played OLD country hosted by Larry Gala who I actually supplied some records to AND got an on air thanks from him.
It's where I first head ANY of Webb's 60's stuff in the mid 80's.
It's where I first heard Fallen Angel, Where'd Ya Stay Last Night , and Memory #1.
2packs4sure hey John this sounds great thank you so so much how's everything down in Houston it's hot and humid as hell up here in Dallas but yeah I appreciate the info on the fifties and sixties classic I think of you as a good friend I appreciate it
Thanks, I think of you as a friend too and I appreciate being appreciated. :)
2packs4sure always have a great day
E T sounds so good in stereo
My dad passed in 1999 and Ernest was one of his very favorites. I sang Ernest Tubb songs to him while he was passing....he smiled
My grandfather just passed away the same way in 2016 except he was listening to merle Travis:(
Beautiful...
Espero sea de gran agrado y muy bonitos recuerdos ¡ yo creo que si !
That's beautiful. I was really close with my dad. He played country when I was a kid in the 60s. I've played various music mostly rock over the years but I'm very close to old country. I'm trying to put a band together playing it now but I'm a drummer so I have to learn guitar or banjo. I'm getting old tho so gotta hurry. Cheers heres to our dads !
I did the exact thing with my Uncle. He smiled broadly also. He ABSOLUTELY Loved Ernest!!!
I’m 21 years old but this music just speaks to me. Truly timelsss I guess
That's great,, I love hearing that !!
The easiness of his singing always puts me in a great mood. A legend worthy of that title.
Agreed and well said !!
She called me baby, another one i'd love to have on my jukebox.
My favorite on this album....I love it! Do I know you 2pack? Some things you've said makes me think we\ve met or been at the same ET show.
love the old stuff!
To me, the old stuff is the only stuff.
This Is A Great Album I Am 55 And We Had This LP When I Was A Child In Elementary School At About 10 Years Old Thanks For The Beautiful Music Memory.
As E.T.'s albums go i think this one is the best overall.
Now when i was a little kid, i'm 52, i thought the Saturday Satan Sunday Saint album was the best...
Thanx for these great memories! South will never die and will rise again
Well the South better rise soon cause there may be nothing left to rise to!
When music had heart😊
holy crap, i've never heard this before!

This is absolutely the best damn album ET ever had out.... I listen to this very much

I was born early 50s, American sector in Germany, my mother often heard AFN,
with this music I grew up.
Just so so great! Amazing voice. Wonderful man. Play it loud.
Lol,, I always play it loud !!
He was my mom before she passed away in1999 and i play his songs for her and she had a big smile on her face
I actually met e.t once in
south Carolina.
Ernest Tubb was my dad's favorite country singer.
My dad's too and every time ET came to town my family was there.
i always end up here! :-)
+Ee .e That's funny because whenever someone comments on it I wind up listening to it again!
One of the greatest singers of all time! I love this country gentleman.
I love Ernest Tubb. The first time I heard him was when he sang Leave Them Boys Alone with Hank Williams Jr. Gotta love the classics.
+Kody Lynn Wow, i forgot about LEAVE THEM BOYS ALONE that was E.T.'s very last recording session..... August 1982 Sound Stage Studio, Nashville, TN - Ernest Tubb & Waylon
Jennings & Hank Williams, jr.
+2packs4sure Yeah, still sounded great though.
I am listening to there tonight I love this music thank you John
Ernest was one my husband's best friends and such a sweet man he was,
we miss him so much. Love his songs. Have many memories of him. Widow of Ken Allen
I'll bet those ARE some special memories...
You should read the book Ernest Tubb: The Texas Troubadour: by Ronnie Pugh..
You can find them on ebay.
It's a good read.
I wished I could have met the man I grewd up listing to him
@@laciwalker7365 I did as a young man at Mockingbird Hill Park, Anderson, IN. It feels like yesterday. Thank goodness for the memories of our youth. He was a very pleasant man and treated his admirers well. He was just down to earth. Once you met him you felt like you've known him all your life. I also saw Dolly and Porter Wagner there at another time.
I love all old country music. I try to have the best on my play list. Earnest made that list. I have probably heard him before but this is a discovery. Thanks for sharing your comment. Thats special That you knew him personally.
I am from Portugal, and I love old American country music
Back when singers took pride in their looks, not looking like they just fell out of the dumpster like today's singers. What a great voice. People could sing then ,not scream into the mike
There's nothing more better than an Ernest tubbs early 60's album! Or any of his records for that matter! Just absolutely awesome!
Love this mans voice, the BEST ever...
Growing up I heard this album over 100 times! And now I get to hear it again! So cool!
I guess I needed a reminder of how much truth and comfort and good humor Country Music once gave us. What a remarkable troubadour Mr. Tubb was. (And what a great band he assembled.) Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it !!
Pretty good compilation of ole ET doing other's hits
I've been bumping this album without a rest for at least three years. Such a winner, trawling the bins at the record store for this one. Good stuff.
I'm an old dude,,,,,,,, what does "bumping this album" mean?
I know it's a good thing but what exactly is the definition of "bumping this album" ? Thanks
I looked it up,,,,, i knew it was a good thing !
I love me some Ernest tubb
DANG!!! Uncles who were REAL cowhands, cousins involved in 4-H. I grew up to this!!!!! Thank you for bringing back the memories......
+Leslie Hill Amen Leslie ,Farmers we were FFA all the way yes I remember it well!!!!

THANXFERPOSTINDISOLEGEMOLESON!
Love Ernest Tubb. Just pure cowboy, Texas honky tonk.
Yep pure cowboy, no frills. What you see is what you get. Love this stuff, and YOU, ET!
I have this on vinyl, it sounds amazing!
Yea, I have a nice copy and it kills.
Glad you enjoyed it
That picture of the 8-track sure brings back memories. Does anyone remember trying to fish out the tape when it got stuck inside the 8-track player in the car? Great tunes here...Happy Trails from FL
good ol boy
Earnest Ernest. 1 of the Greatest✌️🦁🪕
God bless Ernest. I love him. As Red Foley joked, “…I bet Ernest wishes he could hit that note, too.” ❤️😂
That's my great uncle!!! Real country!
Really? E.T. was your great uncle?
How cool. How exactly?
You must be related to Leon ??
So you are kin to Glenn and Billy (X.LINCOLN)...great people too.
Yes so sorry to hear of uncle billies passing, e.t is my great grandfather's brother, Billie and Glenn are my mommas uncles..
In 1985 I heard Ernest Tubb for the first time with his song I wonder Why you said goodbye, and it was something impressive. His voice, the background music, was the best. I had already heard Hank Williams Sr., but Ernest Tubb, he was something different, a definition, a very definite background music, something special. In my personal preference, Ernest Tubb, is something that comes from older times than Hank Williams. Ernest Tubb, it's something special, and it's a good thing that his style is still in force.
Thanks for the up. I'm 40 now, and this brings back many good memories of my Grandmother, who introduced me to the Greats while still in my youth.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Still,❤This music after all these years, HAPPY NEW YEAR, YEAR JOHN,MAY 2024 BE BETTER FOR ALL OF 🇺🇸
Hope your 2024 is great too Peggy !!
I picked up a MONO copy and a STEREO copy of this Vinyl Album from the quarter bin ($0.25) at my local record shop on the same day about a month or two ago, and both copies are MINT. Never heard this ET album, but it's quickly grown into one of my faves!! Even when covering songs my others, ET just had that voice, that prescence, and that twang, that made him so great!! Best $0.50 investment I ever made!!
It's a great feeling to luck in to some really clean vinyl like that, I cracked open a still sealed Ferlin Husky album a couple days ago and it's a pristine gleaming joy to behold that sounds just "ok",,,,,,,,, dang it.
It could and should be a lot quieter than it is,,,,,,, but it ain't.
Vinyl is such a crap shoot.
Congrats on the finds.
LOL...I was wrong....it was another album...where I got the MONO and STEREO....but ONLY the stereo on this Ernest Tubb album...and the Decca pressing is thick and sounds amazing on my turntable. Hey 2packs4sure.....thanks for all of the ERNEST TUBB STUFF you post. I'm guessing for some of the albums you've posted, you put the albums together using the BEAR Family Boxsets, as everything sounds so pristine!! Right? Or are all (or most) of his albums released on CD?? I've not explored the ET Catalog...but I know he's got a ton of releases!!
Glad your enjoying the ET stuff, most of it is assembled from the boxsets and that is, for the most part, the ONLY way to get it.
This one came from an amazingly good original Decca reel to reel, I say amazingly because I NEVER had another Decca reel to reel that sounded worth a damn even at 7.5 ips.
It seemed many of my Decca reels were dubbed too loud or WAY too loud,,, the quality just wasn't there.
Back in the day before CD's I thought that reel to reels were the answer to scratchy records and sometimes they were, but I learned quickly what a pricey crap-shoot it was and ended it.
If I was to recommend one of the Bear Boxes it would be the Ernest Tubb - Waltz Across Texas boxed set, it's ALL excellent !
This is from a REEL TO REEL? My god...sounds unbelievable. I would have never guessed it. Thanks for the info. Just has the nice separation and the ambience comes through nicely. I will search out the BEAR Boxes...I believe there's quite a few for ET...but nice to know which one is excellent!! Best DG
You can hear some dropouts and other flaws if you're really trying but like I said it is one nice tape.. I also equalized it quite a bit for the RUclips post.
I've had some really nice ones through the years but that one is the best 60's Decca, I also have a Kitty Wells Heartbreak U.S.A. reel that's excellent ,,, Capitol records reels from that era tended to be very nice and I have several amazing RCA's as well.
It all depended greatly on the transfer, tape stock, dubbing machines, and technicians running it.
I have two original like new Sinatra and Jobim reel to reels on Reprise and both sound really nice and fat but one of them has a TON of tape hiss and the tape stock is visibly different on that one,,,,,,, so,, like I said,, it's a damn crap-shoot.
Due to shortage of space,my LP of this super compilation lives in the shed. I've probably not played it for forty years, even though it seems like yesterday. Now thanks to this upload,it's at my fingertips. Much appreciated!
Sure thing !
On my shelf. ET vinal still best
@EmoryKing, ERNEST Tubb came to Nashville in 1943 when he joined the Grand Ole Opry as a member. And lived near Brentwood
ET was the greatest....I've loved him all my life....every since I was a small child and I'm now 82. He was a dear friend of mine and I have loving memories of him. I'm looking forward to seeing him again in Heaven. This is one of my favorite albums.....thank you so much for featuring it! Doris Jacobs-Covington
Well ma'am,,,, you're very welcome and I'm sure glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for making my weekend..ET appreciates it I'm sure!
I met Ernest in person near the end of his life at a nightclub near Carlyle, Illinois in 1982...It was freezing cold outside, he was more than 80 years old-in poor health and very tired; but persevered thru the show he did with his band...I was VERY impressed with his spirit and still am! Ernest Tubb was a REAL STAR...Outstanding!
I thought about correcting that one but decided against it though E.T. definitely LOOKED 80 in 1982.......
Didn't mean anything against Ernest, I really liked him-he was a force for good anywhere he was.
No one thought you had anything against anybody, you just had some basic facts about E.T.'s age wrong that's all.
It's weird, i was responding to a post that corrected your error about E.T.'s real age and now i don't see it.....
It just vanished........
yeah, wasn't sure of his age, just guessed...I was very impressed with Ernest in person; he cast a positive light in that very dark-otherwise cold roadhouse on Rte. 127 North...
one off the best bands around at that time
Ernest wrote the rules for all of county music... ether it made you happy, melancholy or just sad..
He is the best of the best !!!
Beautiful Album ❤️ The voice takes me away!
Great collection of songs.
Yea, i can't think of another Tubb album that is more enjoyable overall.
It just is a little piece of magic that in early 65' when all these were cut Tubb was at his smokey voice peak and the band was also right in the fat middle of it's peak.
A year later Tubb's voice started to weaken and nothing was quite as good.
Still great for several more years but not prime Tubb anymore.
2packs4sure I enjoyed it.
Classics never die
Of course. New generation of listeners
Thanks very much for sharing this with us!
Sure thing,, glad you found it.
Great album!
I have been on that bus, and it still brings chills to realize ET owned and rode this bus.
I've always Loved how he never seemed like a spotlight hog
Van a pasar siglos, pero Ernest Tubb no podra ser superado.
gota love the oldies L:
It's been a while since I listened to Ernest Tubb, had many of his albums years ago and even met him at a County Fair in Virginia years ago, I think the 60's. Thanks for sharing this! I love it!
Ernest Tubb was the first Rod Stewart 🎤🎶💖✨✨😁👍
Because of the gravelly voice?
@@2packs4sureYes my friend. I like that kind of voice, just the likes of Rod Stewart, Kim Carnes and Bonnie Taylor 😁🎶✨🎤
I absolutely love this music
i think country music is great it tells the true tina
