    ET is ONE of the best, along with Eddie Arnold, Jim Reeves, Hank Williams, Hank Thompson, Faron Young, Charlie Pride, Bill Monroe, Clyde Moody, Marty Robbins, Merle Haggard, Jim Ed Brown, Ray Price, Mel Tillis just to name a few. Loved them all.

      You bet James, I grew up during their years and they were the best
      Travelled many times to Nashville as well as grew up as a young lad
      listening to it all on Saturday nights on a radio with a antenna.
      My hero was Bill Monroe hands down. Met him and shook his hand.

    I was in the service in 1965 and bought the album at the bx store on base I believe it cost me about four dollars back then. after hearing it; I truly believed ET was a true Texas cowboy singer and there was none other like him with that deep baritone voice and sounded like a real man should sound. I'll always love his style of country music and
    Buddy and Leon sound great. I love the sound of that steel guitar. True country at it's best.

      I agree with you Angelo. In those days you started out playing rough'n'ready Honky Tonks.....in other words you learnt the hard way. Today they expect to turn up at a talent show and win without any history behind them. You should listen to ET's Saturday Satan Sunday Saint....but also my personal fav....Thanks A Lot.

      originalformulamusic Thank you for sharing. I'm surprised Owen Bradley let a fiddle player play on this. He was notorious for not likeing fiddle (outside of a string section). Great old recording. Thanks for sharing!

    • @tammyslaughter9587
      @tammyslaughter9587 7 лет назад

      Jason Baker In response to your comment about you are surprised that Owen Bradley "let" Ernest Tubb use a fiddle player in this session. Number one, Owen aka Half-Moon Bradley did NOT tell Ernest which musicians or instruments he could use in a session. He was Ernest Tubb!
      Number two, he wasn't just a fiddle player he was Leon Boulanger a Texas Troubadour, a helluva musician and frontman.
      Ernest was very loyal to his Troubadours and made sure he used them in sessions and television shows. He even turned down a Johnny Cash television appearance because he was not allowed to use his Troubadours.
