  • Off road Led light pods comparison - Rigid Industries, Diode Dynamics, Lasfit and Auxbeam
    Are cheap Auxbeam led lights really that bad? Are more expensive rigid, baja design, diode dynamics worth the money? What kind of off-road led light pods do you need? Finish watching this video and hopefully it will help you make the decision. All camera setting were kept the same with all field footages from this video, so there will not be auto exposure, auto white-balance, this is to eliminate the variations from the camera, and keep the test as consistent and controlled as possible.

    I know this video a a bit older, but what a lot of people don't understand is that comparing to the headlights is good. You don't necessarily need better than the lights all of the time. Sometimes you need these lights just because your main lights get covered in mud!

    • @4WDisLife
      @4WDisLife  Год назад +8

      yes. Also the thinking behind it is, everyone has an idea of what stock headlight looks like, so I gave that as a baseline for the comparison.

  • @anthonydotb

    Honestly, it all depends on what I'm doing. My first set of pod lights were rigid spot beams. They were nice for throwing additional light down the road, but sucked for lighting up the side of the road. I ended up getting a cheap amazon light bar mounted on the roof rack, so my spot lights ended up not really serving a purpose. I then went with what im currently rocking right now which are rigid 360 pod lights (driving lights pattern). The 4 inch version. They throw a way wider beam than the spots, but they're not crazy wide like the ones you tested, which IMO are probably the best pure ditch lights on the market. I went with the 360's for looks, but also because of the beam pattern. I found that when driving trails at night I end up turning on my side lights anyway. It's overkill for sure, but I'm surrounded in a bubble of light. Note: I don't need the lights, so if I win, please give them to someone else. :)

    You “cannot” compare different bean types and wattage. Everything has to be within each others specs otherwise what’s the point of making a video comparing multiple companies products. I see this all of the time and it’s really frustrating. You can’t “try”, you need to. If you’re comparing spot light vs spotlight vs spotlight vs spotlight, ok, now the wattages have to be the same, 18 vs 30 or 36 colts is just horrible. Doesn’t make any sense to me. I wouldn’t even compare a 36 watt to a BD 41 watt. Everything needs to be well within the same specs, the only thing you are comparing is how they work compared to others, but if you have different beam patterns and wattage lights. You did post and acknowledge this which I did appreciate. Just the weirdest comparison I’ve ever seen yet.

    • @vineshnarayan5490
      @vineshnarayan5490 8 месяцев назад

      That's a subjective comment as different brands run differently for example a Narva light you have run a Narva control panel to control the lights where as stedi (world leading brand) you can isolate or run with high beams the wattage is dependent on what LEDs the lights run which is brand specific I see this video as useful as it shows what each brand offers

      Holy crap! I thought the EXACT same thing! I'm questioning the lux readings of the test, and whether the DDs were pointed down or something. If I only had THOSE, I wouldn't even shop any more lights. Also, there's the issue of "drop down" after things warm up, something the DD don't (at least I'm about to find out, lol) do. I'm currently biased, since I just dropped the $ on the DD SS3 driving, with extra yellow lenses for the winter. This showed a MUCH better argument for the straight fog pro's. The DD's are 20w PER diode. That's a TON of power, and I watched a lot of videos that showed contrary to this vid. Still, I VERY much appreciate the 4WD is Life guy, and his effort to do comparisons.

    • @4WDisLife
      @4WDisLife  2 года назад +1

      @@reminaya thanks for commenting. To me. The power of all the lights here are good and enough, however it is the lens pattern that is drastically different. Since I was looking for a one fit for all light pods on top of my diode fogs, any of the diodes other patterns doesn’t seem to do the job. Where rigid offers illumination front and side, fits my needs.

    Not sure where Rigid is 500 dollars. The ones that should be compared to the rest of that lineup are the D2 pros and are about 177 on amazon.

  • @seniorxj2931

    Why are you comparing DD's flood beam to driving beams?? Obviously not a fair comparison especially when each light is rated at different wattage!

    • @4WDisLife
      @4WDisLife  Год назад

      That’s all I had at the time, and to be honest dd’s flood beam is supposed to have more spread but it doesn’t, it pales to even driving pattern of others so that says a lot.

    • @seniorxj2931
      @seniorxj2931 Год назад

      @@4WDisLife that's a negative ghost rider as DD has 4 beam patterns, wide, spot, driving and flood. I actually put Rigids driving beam against DD driving beam and not only was the lux reading higher on DD, you can't even use Rigid on the damn road cause there's no cut off!! So you're only comparing DD flood beam to Lasfit driving beam for "on-road use" and you CAN'T use any flood beam on-road!!

    The title of the video says "comparison". You're comparing two driving pattern lights and a fog pattern. How is that an accurate comparison? I don't think you know what you're doing. If you had a DD driving pattern Pro then you'd have a better comparison. This discrepancy never clicked in your mind? Do better. Try harder.

    • @4WDisLife
      @4WDisLife  2 года назад

      Understand your point, however not every companies “pattern” is consistent. DD’s driving pattern won’t even stand a chance against rigids driving pattern because they are way more focused and have no spread. I did do another comparison of rigid dss pro driving vs dd combo which is half driving and half flood and imo that is a way more closer match up than dd driving.
