2:54, a muffled profanity...tut tut 🤣
josmoore316 haha glad I’m not the only one who noticed that
Lol'd so hard when I heard that. Didn't even need a second take, knew what he said as soon as I heard it 😂
2:55 certainly sounds like Matt was unhappy with the shot. Maybe I am not hearing right though.
😆😆 missed that in the edit
You must have you speakers turned up really load, after maxing mine out I did head a mumbled four letter word, lol.
LOL sounds like me golfing
@@Misnjef Too bad it doesn't LOOK like me golfing, lol.
No... You definitely heard right lol
Fantastic comparison! Love that you guys don't automatically advise viewers to upgrade. Trust worthy opinions
Brooks had the SIM in the bag 2 weeks ago in Abu Dhabi, then M5 AND Mavrik in Saudi last week. 3 drivers in 2 weeks, must be nice to be an equipment free agent. Good vid, I think this is going to be a trend this year with the marginal difference in speed and distance, but hopefully they gain stability and forgiveness.
It has been marginal differnces for a long time already.. It's more about what you like the look and sound of more these days.
Great stuff! Can’t wait for the standard Flash vs Mavrik comparison. 👍🏼
When he hit the Mavrik I was like... He just mis-hit it! Nope, just nice and quiet.
Quickly became my favorite channel wish I could get fitted by you guys
This is content that we have been waiting for..... I know there will be more to come. Love it boys.... Matty (use Scottish accent) swing is looking great as usual kid.
Refreshing as always to get honest reviews. I went from original epic to epic flash subzero and saw a significant improvement. I’ll do a demo day for fun with the Maverick, open minded free test drive.
from a survey in golfwrx, a lot of club builders/fitters were asked about drivers last year, and most mentioned Epic Flash as their number one driver last year.
Mange Larsson it’s a really solid Driver.
I put Mavrik SZ in the bag last week and versus XR Speed and Epic Flash SZ my launch was seriously low with Mavrik SZ which I like since I hit balloon balls with driver. Carried over my previous shaft and I found the change in launch shocking 😃 its stupid long in the wind Mavrik SZ.
Love these comparisons. I’m not sure how realistic it is, but a lot of us aren’t upgrading every year. It might be cool to see comparisons between the newest driver and like a 2016 or 2017 driver to see what kind of gains can be had for what I would consider a normal life cycle for products.
Nick Zadd not easy to get our hands on products from 3-5 years ago.
Looking forward to the standard comparison....👌🏻
Would like to see a mizuno comparison!! Love the content!
9.1k views and only 434 likes?! Give credit where credit is due and hit the thumbs up! Great video like always and love the content 💯🏌️⛳️
Awesome video. I was fit into an epic flash sub zero in December and was wondering if I should come back to hit Maverick before springing for the purchase. This makes me feel better.
I'd like to see Mavrik normal vs. Epic Flash sub zero. That's what I am trying to decide on. People are saying the normal Mavrik is better than SZ this year.
It would be interesting to see the comparison between the Maverik and the club it is replacing, the Rogue.
I think driver (and other clubs) are a lot like smart phones. I have an iPhone 8 right now, still works, and while I’d love to have an iPhone 11, the longer I wait, presumably the better the technology in the next iteration. So maybe not switch from Epic Flash to Mavrik, but definitely in 3-5 years the tech will show its worth to upgrade/update.
Know the feeling, Matty. I always drop an f-bomb when I hit one 345😂🤣
Would love to see a comparison between Sim max, standard Mavrick and TS2.
Great video and perfect answer to my question during the live session. I get great numbers with the standard Mavrik but it tends to turn over more than I would like to see. Maybe the SZ with the weight back sounds like the answer.
definitely worth a try, weight back manages the spin but you get the more fade biased flight out of the SZ
TXG should test all the different versions of the Mavrik SZ. Brooks had the triple diamond version
I'm So Happy the ICE MAN!!!
DOING THIS TEST ON THE Epic flash and the new Callaway driver!!!
Would love to see SIM vs M2. Just need to get a great swing like Matt.
From a stability point alone, the 'stock' Mavrik Sub seems way more neutral coming out of the box which is good to see. My experience playing with Callaway heads is that you almost have to take a 10.5 head, set it open to 9 degrees as a starting point, to get the starting line 'slightly' right of target to offset the built in 10 yard draw which they seem to dial in. The muted sound of the Mavrik I think is going to sell the club all by itself.
So Mavrik more stable, which should be the most important thing for golfers, but only 2 yards better in this test. I would say there is a lot of great drivers out there now that you can have for cheap, IF you already know what kind of driver/shaft fits you the best.
I really need a fitting but don’t have anywhere close to get fit. I went to a trackman when I was on vacation and I was hitting my stock ping g410 with over 4000 rpm spin on average. Swing speed was 124 mph avg. solid strikes. Makes sense now why I’d get better performance off slight toe strikes cause it would knock my spin down around 3000 with a toe hit and it would be perfect flight. It’s sad my miss hit actually perform better than my pure strikes.
Interesting - I have been able to hit the Epic Flash SZ w/ a slightly higher launch which allows me to just slightly beat out the Mavrik SZ. Even when swapping shafts.
Haha. Love the cheeky little F-Bomb!
Great comparison! I'd like to see a test between past Callaway drivers from say 2012,2015, 2017 versus the new SZ.... Would be interesting to see how much tech has changed and helped the consumer or if it's just marketing hoopla........ Thanks gents!
Honest review. There are not a lot of YT vloggers who call it like they see it. With many, the newest model always has to be better. I saw one in 2019 where the new model of a club was bested by the previous model. So the vogger tried another loft (lower loft setting) in the new model which did not work. He then took the shaft out of the older model and tried it in the new model (a shaft that I don't think is even offered in the new model). The new model then bested the old model by a fraction in distance. New model proven to better, mission completed, vlog over.
Great video as always guys. A really cool comparison would be original Epic and Epic SZ vs Mavrik and Mavrik SZ. The original Epic line is now 4 Callaway driver iterations old (Epic, Rogue, Epic Flash, Mavrik lines), but Epic was the first to put in Jail Break etc. I still have my original Epic (std) and love it - I can't see it out of the bag anytime soon. Original Epic is still used on tour - most notably by Kevin Na who won the 2019 Charles Schwab and more recently the Shriner's Hospital Open towards the end of 2019 with Epic (Epic Std 9 deg with GDesign Tour GP 6-TX). In fact, he toyed with the Epic Flash SZ for a few tournaments in between both 2019 wins, but put the original Epic (Std) back in the bag for his win at Shriner's... testament to how good the original Epic is - especially if correctly fit (as with anything). www.golf-monthly.co.uk/gear/gear-news/kevin-na-whats-in-the-bag-159770.
Another reason for the comparison is the sound of the original Epic vs Mavrik - the original Epic was renowned for it's carbon, muted sound - something that from numerous comments has thankfully been brought back with the Mavrik line, but unfortunately lost (louder sound) from the generations in between Mavrik and the original Epic. Especially the sound of the Epic Flash line which sounded loud/crashy in videos and many reviewers had commented on the sound of Epic Flash being a criticism (if any) of that line.
As a senior with slow swing and ball speed can we have Ronnie or someone similar(I would be happy to have you fly me in!)
Can we see some high MOI testing for us Mavrik Max Vs Ping SFT vs Cobra Extreme Max vs SIM Max comes to mind.. Come on fellas old guys rule your gonna get there someday!
Cheers from Norcal
Crazy to see how much curve Matt was getting on these. and his speed seems to be back. will we see some 180's soon?
2020 Driver Bracket countdown timer required...our habits are "needin feedin".. .👍
Would love to see ‘19 fitted vs ‘20 OEM. Would really be interesting to see the difference a custom shaft and fitting adjustments can bring to the table.
Personally I'd be really interested in Epic SZ vs Mavrik SZ and M1 vs SIM etc... I feel like with Epic and M1 this generation of drivers started so comparing the forerunners with the current ones would be rather interessting.
I would like to see a head to head of the triple diamond heads!
made the jump from the epic sub to the mav sub today. loved the sound of the esub at first but it annoyed me more as the year went on. mavsub with the weight forward still had that pinggy sound. once the weight was moved to the back, i fell for it. muted and lovely. 174 bs w/2400 spin on trackman was the icing on the cake. 165 bs w/ esub. The best was the stock msi white was better (for me) than any of the custom shafts. Saving $$$ and better performance....
My understanding is the Mavrik is a replacement for the Rogue. So wouldn't a more accurate test be the Rogue SZ vs Mavrik SZ?
Maverik - 2:36
Epic Fla - 4:14
For acoustics, Maverik is slightly lower pitched. If the centrifugal head weight suits you better, it might be a go. All these newer heads are great, but does it suit your swing path and delivery? Setup needs to be scrutinized more so than latest greatest these days. It's nice that we're at this level now though, that we have so many good choices.
To me it raises the question, why between Epic, Rogue and Mavrik Sub Zero models, did Callaway decide to go with a moveable weight in the back on the Flash Sub Zero? The fact they quickly went away from that suggests that wasn't necessary or wanted in the Sub Zero model.
Isn't one of the advantages of Sub Zero that you can switch the weights around, but when one of those is stuck in a track, you're stuck with it. What's the difference then between regular Flash and Sub Zero Flash.
Thanks for review. I own the epic flash sub fitted. I’m ok with the sound. 🙏
I would like to see the Cleveland driver!
What's the best option for a fitting if you really don't trust any of the local shops? They don't even look at the data.
Joshua Link road trip!!
I'll stick to my Flash for now! Great info in the video! SIM versus Mavrik would be an interesting shootout!!
Driver technology is so close it all comes down to what suits your eye. None of these drivers are increasing club or ball speed to amount to anything. I wish all the OEMs would get on 2 year product release cycles like Titleist that every time you spend a ton of money on a club it’s not outdated.
Nice comparison. Any chance the GCQuad data from all the swings will be made available to members?
Good to see with matties first push shot you can hear him 🤬 you guys are he best online golf product information show
Deyvid Vranic 🤣, thank you!!
Enjoyed the video, how about a comparison of the Rogue subzero vs mavrik subzero?
Hey guys. Wondering if you have done an episode on Callaway Mavrik VS. Epic Flash Sub Zero Fairway clubs. Interested to see the difference that AI brought to the Mavrik this season.
Phew!!!!! Just been fitted for an Epic Flash :)
Great news because I play a the green monster in SZ! You guys just saved me $800!
Did you really need a video to be sure you'd better keep your current driver ??
@@marc6652 yes, definitely! Never hurts to get the numbers
You shouldn’t edit out the cursing. It’s nice to hear the robot feel disappointment lol
Stealthknight 87 just what I was thinking. It’s ok to show Mattie immortal!
It would be nice to see an average golfer (15-20 hcp) in your videos testing along with matty. Matty drives the ball to dang good. With I higher hcp we could see if the drivers are any more forgiving and helps with slower swing speeds.
Matt going to warm up: 1st 300ish, 2nd 320ish, 3rd 325ish, 4th 335ish...ok. Curious, how many swings do you generally take to warm up?
usually hit 20-30 shots, few irons and drivers depending on what video we're filming first.
What's the highest smash factor on quad with a driver? 1.45?
Sean Meyer yes, the occasional 1.46
😂😂😂😂 Matt: Fxxx
Love it! Please keep it in 😝
Matthew Ng 😂😂 I agree
I would very much like to see a comparison between rogue and mavrik
Another great comparison gentlemen, can't really say I like the looks of either but what they do on the course is what would matter. Side Note: Matt - how's your friend Sam's (20 HCP) game following his fitting? Sorry...really like going over the older videos.. Thx for posting !!
Sammy is down to around a 15 now I think! He's doing well 👍
@@clubchampionmedia Another successful fitting story. Good to hear Sir!
Maybe the Rogue SZ vs. Mavrik SZ shows a bigger difference as Mavrik is not replacing Epic Flash SZ but Rogue is not in the CG range anymore?
yup we'll test that as soon as we can
When does the vixa v12 review come out?
Isn't that Mike Taylor in the commercial "grinding" a fairway wood?🤣🤣🤣
Let's do driver testing with Matty.... Warm up with gamer 310+ carry on the fairway. Onto the Epic 310+ carry on the fairway. Onto the Mavrik 310+ carry on the fairway. Conclusion ...... Damn Matty can drive a golf ball with whatever he has in his hands!! Clubs are alright as well 🤣👍
I was fit for st190 last year and just recently was fit for a mavrik. Fastest ball speed I’ve ever had of 165 and was swinging it roughly 2 mph faster even with a heavier shaft. Too bad the build will cost $900
I was fit for the Xc 7x also
Hey guys. It looks like year over year the drivers are just incrementally improving. It doesnt appear that the mavrik provides a huge increase in performance over the epic flash when comparing only solid shots. You have mentioned in previous videos that this years class of drivers is not necessarily focused on increased speed and distance but increased stability and forgiveness. When comparing only perfect shots from a ball striking machine like Matt, I think you guys are unable to highlight what these new drivers are trying to achieve. Showing some of the not so perfect shots with questionable swings and discussing how the driver helped keep bad shots from being really bad would be very beneficial to us mortals because at the end of the day, the speed and distance is nice but we need forgiveness too. In your reviews you guys like to get 5 to 10 good shots to compare clubs, it would be helpful to know how many total shots Matt needed to get those good ones and which driver was best at covering up his bad swings and bad contact.
third shot is amazing… and then he starts carrying the green...
As an idea why not compare the severity of the misses? The good strikes will be much of a much if comparing similar cg heads, and controlling for other variables, the misses would make interesting reading to see if " improved forgiveness" claims are merited.
It's very hard to isolate two nearly identical strikes with identical deliveries to fairly compare the two heads on forgiveness. We just didn't want any big conclusions to be made without the proper data to support it
@@clubchampionmedia - a very fair point, I guess a number of delivery and ball metrics would have to match across different strikes to make any conclusions valid.
I still game a ping i15, haven't found anything since that beats it. All new drivers are just hype and marketing!
Mike, you are missing out. 😄
@@NovaScene in what way?
I've tested most of the new stuff and they are no longer than mine. Why waste the money?
might not be distance gains for you Mike but forgiveness, consistency etc. have come a very long way since i15
TXG Tour Experience Golf I hope so ! I’ve just gone for the Ping G410 plus (10.5) with Tour 65 shaft from my Titleist 905t (9.5) graphite Design Aura 68g shaft.
I haven’t hit on the course yet but I’m expecting/hoping for good stuff to happen !
@@keiththompson2172 Keith you will see a massive difference in accuracy and consistency, good driver I game the same setup in Tour65X.
Video idea.......could you measure if / how much a driver, wood shaft weakens over time? I have a real deal tensi Orange 60tx (proper pro MR70 etc) and I’m sure after a years worth of practice & play it’s lost half to a full flex. SS 110-120 dependant on the day. Like if you’d like to see this to.thanks guys.
Mimicks my experience. Fitted for Epic Flash SZ. Mavrik better sounding, slightly longer, but not significant. Slightly better on off centre hits. Not enough to buy a new driver though.
Chris Freitag definitely not significant to change from Flash!! It was/is a great driver!!
Wouldn't testing the mavrik against the rogue be a more interesting test, it is after all the line it's replaced rather than the flash.
we are going to do that soon
Have a 200 euro voucher for halpenny golf here in Dublin Ireland. Getting new driver this month. As many comparison and analysis videos as you possibly can would be REALLY appreciated 😂
lots more coming!
@@clubchampionmedia perfect! 💪
Mavrik is replacing the Rouge? compare those drivers ?
Graham B we will
I think you should test the Mavrik against the Rouge, isn’t that the product cycle match more than Epic Flash?
Alex Massey we will for sure
Ian Fraser can’t wait. Love your videos!!!
Just out of curiosity, I see Matt hit with different driver shafts(video to video) Do you settle on one for each comparison for any specific reason?
Usually try to give the head we're testing the best chance by pairing it with what we believe to be a good shaft match. Usually we're choosing shafts based for balance point based on the head weight we're dealing with. We also like to use a variety of shafts in head tests over the course of the year as a way of testing and familiarizing ourselves with the performance of those shafts.
What’s your impression of the graphite design XC shaft. Is that Matt’s new shaft for 2020. How does it compare to last year’s VR and my personal favorite GP
giving it a good test in a bunch of videos so far this year, not Matt's gamer but we like to learn as much about different products as we can
TXG Tour Experience Golf How did the characteristics differ from the VR and the GP based on what you’ve seen so far?
Wanna see a head to head keeping only miss hits on all drivers
Every video you watch now subscribers going up good on you’s
The question we all want answered is how did they compare to your driver.
pretty close on that particular day
Are plans in the works to compare Mavrik SZ with Rogue SZ as this is the "Direct Replacement"?
if we can get our hands on a Rogue SZ at the right specs
@@clubchampionmedia I have a 10.5 Rogue SZ Head. I took the weight out to put into my Epic Flas SZ though.
we've just got a lefty Rogue SZ driver secured for testing 👍
@@clubchampionmedia Yeeeeeeeeessssssss! This should be fun lol. I have done my own comparison on my simulator at home with the GC Quad, so I'll be interested to see what happens with Matty! 🙌
I think the biggest difference between Mav and Epic Flash is the sound and feel. Also the stupid line on the crown is gone.
Would love to see Mavrik vs Rogue. But that's selfish as I'm a Rogue player at the moment.
Could you maybe test the Rogue SZ against the Mavrik SZ ?
I think that would be a better test being the Mavrik is the replacement for the Rogue.
Roger Mick Collison, since Mavrik SZ is identical to Epic Flash SZ, find a comparison between Epic Flash SZ and Rogue SZ 👍🏼
M. Marin if you look at Epic and Epic flash, that’s your comparison. Look at Mavrik SZ and Rogue SZ there’s that comparison. Callaway seems to switch back every other year. I have a Rogue SZ , that’s why I want to see that comparison.
Roger Mick Collison ,
Ya sure..
Rogue SZ vs Epic SZ vs Epic Flash SZ = Mavrik SZ (numbers)
Find the other videos and you’re golden
Mav sub vs Rogue sub please
What happens when you put the weight in the toe on the epic flash ?
that's how we had it set up for this video, helps manage the draw/hook for those that need it
Hey guys, how about if I am gaming the Rogue Sub Zero? Is there enough separation between Rogue SZ and Mavrik SZ to make it worth the purchase?
Hopefully be able to test Rogue against Mavrik soon
TXG Tour Experience Golf Awesome thank you!! That's why you guys are the best by a long shot!
Please do the standards, std. Mav vs std. epic flash, thanks
Vivito IsRight we will for sure!!
LOL I could hear that.
Please do this same test with a 3 wood. I just bought a epic flash and now I’m second guessing my choices. Please help txg
The Love of Eating second guessing what? They are exactly the same 🤦♂️
Still gaming a Rogue 3 wood. Like glued hostels on fairways and didn’t care for the Flash fairways.
I can’t wait for the golf bodies to screw up and change ball so we can watch Matt swing 120 plus mph and hammer a smooth 265:)
YikesBikes Jack could only do that on hard pan fairways. Not happening on modern manicured setups. The game has changed. We don’t need to go back to junk conditions and greens rolling 7 either. This whole concept will make golf even less appealing to potential players.
YikesBikes I strongly disagree with all points. I manage multiple high end golf properties and can definitively say what you are saying is not at all our experience. No one was carrying anything 330 yards back then. Maybe straight down wind and downhill. Jack wouldn’t have carried 330 with modern equipment if he was in his prime today. Not at sea level with no wind.
YikesBikes averaging 311? Absolutely. Carrying it 330? Totally different animal.
YikesBikes Jack averaged around 275 back in the day and was about 10 yards longer than the average player on tour. That’s not near as far as you are insinuating.
YikesBikes I get your point but amateurs aren't hitting it like the guys on tour. I don't know many amateurs who are long enough to over power a golf course. If the tech is going to be dialed back, it should only be dialed back for the guys who length is the problem for, which are tour players.
Matt here is an exception and let's be honest he's probably on the cusp of being a pro caliber player if he devoted the time to it.
You may need to stop Whisker sneaking into TXG and adding his profound voiceovers (or do I mean profane) 🤣🤣
Very interesting. 🤔
WARM UP....... 295, 310, 330.........
Let's go back 5 years and see how the 2015 models stand up against these $500 marketing hyped products. Avg olfers wouldn't mind saving $400 plus and give up 5 yards.
Are you guys using a microphone near the hitting zone cause my deaf old ears picked up something at 2:53 ... thanks for upload. 👍 #txgbuckethat
Sorry Whisker, that might have been me hitting in the other bay.
Gerry Lawrence 👍
Alright all TXG fitting bays will be outfitted with Member swear jars one Loonie per infraction perhaps we can have a draw at year end for a TXG gift certificate. Pay up Matty. 😂
Pretty Good little F--- down the left side... I'd have been happy with that
F bomb 🤣🤣
Robert Daly 😳
Initially that Epic is soo much louder (ping) which I love, to me thats the sound of Power!! why spend so much money on something that sounds dead.. imagine buying a Ferrari and it sounds like your moms car
Sound is definitely subjective! Have heard lots of people that would agree with you and liked Epic Flash's sound - but others didn't, so good that they have an option with the Mavrik for a more muted sound
Not sure what your intentions are for keeping this channel “PG”, but at 2:55 Matt drops the f-bomb while hitting a bomb.
Thought I heard that too or was it hook?
Donnacha Lyons maybe, personally I don’t care, but it might not be on brand with their media presence intentions.
stickghost what are you guys? 12? Geeze people so sensitive now a days! If he did slip an f bomb who cares!
I personally wouldn’t mind them letting loose here and there, we’re all adults here watching this channel and god knows we’ve said 10x worse out on the course 😇
ponce1521 read my comments first, I said I didn’t care, but TXG might. Obviously we all curse, but there’s a difference between an edited video for their business and hanging out with them.
