Used to have my M3 set up low spin, (both weights forward). Loved it! Then tested and fell in love with the G410 SFT. Big time. Massive gains in distance and dispersion.

I'll be gaming the Mavrik Sub Zero end of next month. Gotta wait for the pennies to come in soon. Found it really really quick on off centre strikes versus my XR Speed. I put my gamer shaft in the black HZRDUS Handcrafted. Feels weightier and more muted than Epic Flash. Great club

Not a chance in the world, give up too much to gain too little for me. Tried them and just couldn't hit them well enough with consistency (yes I know - consistency comes or doesn't come from me).

My school of thought on shafts if as follows:
    1. Whatever stiffness it is, it is just a letter and it does not matter.
    2. There are hundreds of bend profiles, use what you think feels best and does not cause you to rip the club down from the top.
I have fitted people who are surprised to realize that despite their speed, they can hit Regular best. Also had people with slower speed hit extra stiff. It is all what helps your sequence and that will translate to a better strike.

HI MARK , Paul here, ive not looked in on your videos for a while due to weather and playing well rather difficult put me off. NOW THOUGH I HAD THIS DRIVER FOR AROUND 18 MONTHS PLAYING 4 TIMES A WEEK. I found it longest I've ever hit 295 plus BUT 18 months later it felt like a crack under the grip and like something in the head had come loose , so my current but great driver the ROGUE D does not go as far . I like the new Smoke but if I could choose any it would be the mavrik ,maybe yellow head instead of orange .

Hi Mark - love the channel. You mentioned 11:50 ish) that on a tour range no player wants the ball going left? Why is that? Easier to control a fade as opposed to a draw? Are the new style of drivers harder to hit right to left/ smaller sweet spot? I could go on forever trying to guess but I’ll leave it up to you.
Struck me as odd as when I was learning the game decades ago it was always right to left for more distance

I hit the regular mavrik and the sub zero today. With my 105~106 ish swing speed and delivery, I needed the sub zero. I ended up hitting my longest and most accurate shots with the sub zero/ aldila nv 2kxv green 65 gram extra stiff flex shaft. I never thought I'd be the x flex guy, and have generally used a stiff flex. What's even crazier to me is my smash factor went up with the stiffer flex.

I still use and love the original Epic Sub-Zero and the first thing I did was move the heavy weight to the back and that gets the ball in the air with ease. Since I normally draw the ball, this club is deadly straight with an occasional 30+ yards gain with a bomb ball, because it stays in the air forever.

When it comes to the weights and fitting, if you look at weights they have different colors and the darker one is the heavier one. So as a fitter that’s how you know if the heavy weight is in the front or not. Love your reviews, for years now.

Great vid Mark. Very tempted to buy one of these. Unfortunately I’m one of those golfers who’s a mid/semi low handicap (8) that you mentioned, who spins it high due to a consistent low heel strike with a -3 angle of attack. Maybe, actually not maybe at all, I should get some lessons to get a more centred strike before I go for a fitting. Thanks again.

Great video as always... Can you do the test again but use two different deliveries I.e hit up vs hit down see what difference it makes? Just thinking as you’re already a low spinning guy using a “low spin” club wouldn’t help you however if you were to hit down on it 2-4* and in theory add more spin by default would you get better or worse results?? Hope that makes sense 🤷🏼‍♂️

Ben Botham I’d love to see that too. I hit down 3 and out of the heel. Got fitted for a flash sub zero but wasn’t convinced so didn’t buy it. I’m not concerned that I hit down a bit (Brooks Koepka hits 5 down) but want to work on a more centred strike.

  • @Grunt21Tennessee
    @Grunt21Tennessee 4 года назад

Excellent video and review, Mark. I think we are always curious as to the shafts reviewers use due to the fact that we all don't have the $$ to get fitted. Yes, some locations offer "free fittings" at the local sports stores, but do we really trust the numbers they are "selling" us? We try to get some type of idea of what others with similar swings and tendencies are using so that it might help our decisions or at least help us start off with a particular setup. Just my .02 cents.

I was surprised the Sub zero with the xstiff just worked the best for me. I got fitted (hit all of them plus the SIM and SZ) and I got the best results with the 10.5 (I normally hit a 9 deg Rogue sub zero) with it set to -1 standard and that really rocked for my game. Loved the sound and feel and best of all, dispersion. It went the farthest for me by a slight margin of 5+ yards but what won the day for me was the very consistent pattern the GC4 showed at the end of the day. My spin was consistently in the 2200rpm range with a 14 deg launch so I guess it just fit me.
Strange that you can't hit it Mark, your swing speed is much higher than mine (104 mph)

What's great about a low ball flight that runs is that since it's running along the ground, instead of going OB it'll just get caught in the rough and stay in. The increase in any side spin causes less deviation before hitting the ground than the longer carry with less side spin in my experience, and as long as the course isn't completely mucky (sometimes even when it is) the ball rolls out and the total distance is similar. Can you test this mark? "The MOST LEAST OUT OF BOUNDS DRIVER SETUP" lol

what I love about golf equipment at the minute is that club technology is close to as the legal limit as It can go. I don't believe any clubs can offer much more than another. people should now realise if you need to take your game to the next level you need to see a pro and get lessons. Your 262 proves it. You have done some speed training and have got more performance out of your body than any equipment you have tested in the last decade.
Feels and looks will always sell over performance. in my opinion. Could be wrong.

If jailbreak is a "real thing" why are no other manufacturer doing it? Or are they and I am missing something?
