i love your catch phrase, "stay safe, stay legal." Honestly that is probably the best phrase anyone could think of for your types of videos. I have never picked a lock but i really enjoy watching your vids, keep it up!
Thank you, that's why I had it trademarked. 😀
How about, "Barely Legal",? That one may already be taken. I have those picks in original steel. Those picks could be cut down the middle so you would have 8 picks, not 4, would be great for small padlocks. You still need the original set for double sided. Can make the small padlock jigglers from wiper blades. The Stainless is nice
We all miss you Bill. Hope your life is going well and we'd sure love to have you back.❤️🔒🔓
Watching this video just helped me access an old wall locker in seconds. Thank you!!
Such a pity that Bill retired. He is an invaluable resource of education and learning for the lock picking community.
And he was fun.
Thank you for all the knowledge! Happy Retirement!
Very handy info i picked one of them few mnths ago but i raked it
Jeff, you should go over and give them some crap!
Glad you had some fun with that lock, Bill. I have seen similar boxes in use... but not with such crap cylinders on them.
These types of real estate locks have been in use for decades. But there are different manufacturers, so different locking mechanisms.
You should try the Supra-C line of real estate locks. Some have Bell, Eagle type slider locks as well as hi security tubular locks.
Bill in response to your are they still around they are, and thanks for the laugh Hudson Ohio is between half hour and 45 minutes away from me
Almost as funny as CH751 appearing on EVERY RV made in America
I agree an open is an open
Finally I found the video for wafer locks
I see a good use of this. You can put in a FAKE DOOR KEY and it will confuse the thief.
+dligac Or put in an alarm and scare the thief?
P. De Rop what's funny about the fake key is that it trolls the thief. You can also at the same time put an alarm
+dligac Or put some black widows inside.
ehsnils awesome idea :D bit dangerous for you as well though
put a note in it that says something creepy like "im watching you" to scare the shit out of the theif
Love the informative videos!
May I ask one favor, when showing folks what locks Not to use, can you please mention a viable alternative for those looking to avoid such mistakes!? Thanks
Hi Bill, have you tried jiggling open these locks with only a tension wrench. It actually works for me so I tested all my picks too with a tension wrench and no surprise it works.
These locks are garbage.
We have different ones down here but I like the looks of them, even with the crappy wafer lock.✌🇦🇺
WoW!!!! I have to get me a set like that! I think yours is the Peterson and therefore a bit more expensive but probably worth the money. I was also planning to get me one.
I wouldn't call that picking or bypassing, but it works!
hi Bill, put an abloy camlock in this.. ;-)
Thank you bosniabill I really appreciate your videos. And yes I stay legal.... :)
yes wafer locks can be opened with a bump key but not by hitting them!
Good video, very quick work.
I've tried to make lock pics but they don't usually work. Love your vids thx
Are car door locks waffers too? I havent seen you do a car door pick yet, but not sayin its not up here out of your 500+ vids. If you havent, it be really cool to see!
Most car locks produced now are wafer locks. A few decades ago many car locks were pin tumbler type, especially Ford, Chrysler, Jaguar and Rolls Royce. Older GM locks were wafer locks but had a sidebar locking mechanism. They were very hard to pick with regular picking tools. Rocker picks would sometimes work, though.
techtrain65 to be fair, the sidebar style GM locks don't open with the key a lot of the time...
a bump key will work better as I only have to open one lock!
They have a website, but these boxes are only 20 something dollars in single quantities. Also they have apparently shifted to tubular locks and combo locks.
angle grinder also works to get into those things
I don't know if they still use them, but realtors used to use them quite often.
you would be better off hiding them in a fake rock lol good vid
Really cool thanks for the video!
Bill, can yu do or did you do a video showing how to pick wafer locks for us that dont have those wafer picks
Thanks Bill
Yeah that lock washer does come off on that part you said he can't get them apart I've took them apart off tool boxes and everything else when even a Snap-On says you can't change those locks it only takes 5 minutes to do it and I'm not a locksmith I'm just a jack of all trades and master of none
I've seen similar ones used by Realtors.
Do you have a source for these picks??? Thanks!!
Can you post the link to buy the pick tool? Thanks
Great video Bill, though any jigglers should work that quick...; ) can't understand some companies they really only seem to care about one thing, and thats the bottom line!
ive got thatwafer lock on a lockbox i was given from my parents who bought it at a second hand store. its a double sided wafer lock, ive only been picking for a week. i can already do standard pin and tumbler fairly easy but the wafer lock on this thing is very hard for me. even using the key it requires a lot of force to get it in the hole and turn it, is the lock pickable?
Have ya tried a lubricant?
Like wd40 or i think theres 1 called lock lube etc im also a newbie 2weeks in any way just a thought
were did you get the picks for the warded lock on the realtor key box ?
How do you recognize a wafer lock by looking at the key?
I know the use of these, you can buy 1000 of these locks and put keys inside, make sure only one of them can open your door, put them all outside your house and let the thiefs pick them all open
Since that's just a cam lock, could you replace the cylinder with a more secure cylinder?
+Aadil Shah yeah. Unscrew the big nut and replace it with a Medeco. Good luck picking that one haha
The cast zinc case will open really easily with a hammer, don't waste a good lock on it
Forgive my ignorance, but how do you identify a wafer lock in the first place?
what is that pick tool called?
I don't understand why no one (seem to) make a lock that can't be picked, bumped, drilled etc. I doubt they can't. I know I could. I actually have a solution, and there should be others as well. So why don't they?
lol, wouldn't need the key to the house. just pick it lol
can you put a medeco or a abloy cam lock inside?
Olivier Cauffopé There is the answer as well as modify the wafers with false gates. Or better yet put a simple pin tumbler in it. but all manufacturers make locks of that size. So I would say yes you can put a different core in it.
How to open this lock with single pick??
Is there a way to tell a lock is a wafer lock by looking at it quicky?
yes by looking at the shape of their key ways.
Great info & vid
I can't fathom why you would store keys in something that you need a key for... why not just carry the keys with you?
+AdamHH11 realtors, alarm companies etc. would have to carry a huge number of keys and remember what key to use where, instead put a place to store a key at each house and you only need to carry one key
+AdamHH11 they dont even use button or key locks anymore they use encrypted unlock apps on their phones that records who went in and out and when so they know if somethings wrong who was there at the time.
Hi! Lovely video I would like to know how you call those picklocks you used to open the lock
What does the shackle do anyway?
Around the door knob
How does one initially identify wafers from pins by looking at the lock, anyone?
if only there were a place you could ask basically any question and receive an instantaneous answer... that'd probably be worth some money, someone should look into that, maybe a website...
Expensive everywhere I look for these wafer picks over €24. Where can I get these picks cheap? And is there any diffence with standard double sided picks? Or can anyone make these 4piece chigago wafer picks?
wtf is with this weird lock, it opens the LOCK? so what does the real arm thingy of the lock do? is this a design thing?
Sooo...why not just pick the door lock? Why pick a lock to get the keys to open the lock? Haha
They are still making this lock except now they're selling it with a "highest security" tubular cylinder for $34.95 ...... waaah waaaah
Do you own a locksmith company or is this just a hobby?
kalloused hobby
Pretty sure he’s a locksmith
Hey man I got a question
I just picked a seven pin in like 3.5 seconds is that good
Depends does it have security pin if so what kind and what brand Is it
+Mark Mowers do it a couple of times in a row and you'll know ;)
Depends if you actually picked it or just got lucky raking.
Sounds like a long time? Perhaps a lot of spools and shrooms? You know how to get to Carnegie Hall?
can i have it
