Thanks for showing this technic to Howard Thompson. After watching this video he broke into my office and opened my moneybox. He'd been working for me for 5 years and I never had any issues with him. Unfortunately for him I was at home watching him on my laptop on my new surveillance system I just installed the day of this crime. Anyway after opening the box he read the latter I put inside it. The letter read this . if you're reading this letter then you broke in my box. I just installed my video surveillance today and I'll be watching the tape tomorrow morning. I put the cash box on the floor under my desk. Howard was my cleaning guy so while vacuuming he stumbled across the box. I didn't do anything due to his years of loyalty to me and my family. He washed my car's every weekend and would help me around the house anytime regardless. Anyway he hadn't never been in trouble with the law so we talked and he explained he really didn't need the money he was just nosey and wanted to look inside the box. I figured that I probably set him up by putting this box where he cleaned every night. He's actually using my boat this weekend to go fishing with his family. Putting myself in his place I really don't know what I would have done. Just keeping it real folks. After all if you were in a store and went into the bathroom and found the stores cash box accidentally left behind in the stall. See what I mean. Most people want to feel good about themselves but the man in the mirror would probably understand. I myself actually found a woman's purse. She was on vacation coming to the Eastern Shore of Virginia from New Jersey. Anyway my cousin that was with me when I found it told me to look inside it. I did and in 1973 people on vacation normally had lots of cash. And she did. I forgot how much it was but I definitely remember several one hundred dollar bills and lots of other cash including a envelop with a 20 dollar bill and a birthday card. I was definitely thinking that I was going to have some fun although I remember not feeling good about not turning it in. My cousin had no shame in his game he wanted to split the money immediately. Fortunately I allowed my Pop Pop to see the purse. We were actually getting ready to go to Sunday School as we did every Sunday with my Mom Mom and Pop Pop. The person that accidentally drop her purse outside the car while visiting my Pop Pop's neighbor was extremely happy. My Pop Pop contacted her immediately after getting the contact information from her sister which was my Pop Pop's neighbor and friend. I'm glad my Pop Pop was near. I used this trick for an entirely different box. But thank you for explaining so clearly how lockpicking works. I was stumped as to how I was supposed to use a paper clip to do it.
You could probably use one paper clip only, with the wire doubled back to make a very wide rake - but a rake which can turn the plug at the same time. I had a desk drawer lock with no key back in the 80s, and for many years my 'key' was a paper clip bent into a wide rake. - you are right about the security value of that safe :o)

Yeah, that's really necessary - educate the people what they can expect from such a box - actually pretty sad considering the physical security with the thick walls.
Quick tip for anyone trying to open a similar box but maybe struggling if the lock is slightly different just take a hammer and hit it a couple of times, they aren’t nearly as strong as they look and you can easily get in by breaking it

I just opened mine, it has a similar lock as this one. Except I had to use the metal from a binder clip and syringe bc that’s all I have 🤦🏻♂️😂 the key is getting the bottom tensioner in far enough so you can feel resistance when you turn it clockwise, that way when you put the other pin into the top of the lock, push it in and out (trying to aim slightly upward) a few times, the bottom tensioner should now want to turn open.

I opened it with two butter knives, pry it open with your finger a bit, slide the butter knife In and make your way to the lock.. take the other butter knife and stick it in on the opposite side and go to the lock on that side and it should open ..
Well you might want to check if your cash box has a wafer lock or a pin tumbler lock. If it’s a wafer lock you could for example try to open it with some cheap jiggler keys that require basically no skills. If it’s a pin tumbler it might be a lil bit complicated, as you would probably need some decent rakes or a pick like a half diamond and a tension tool that fits, thus you would have to spend some bucks. It might also require some skills to open it. Of course if you lost the keys anyway you might just go ahead and destroy it.
Jesus Christ I locked my snacks all in a box and lost the goddamn keys 🥲 thought I was gone for but after continuously trying this guide (and other guides) out for like 30mins I FINALLY managed to open it 😂 it works if you don't give up 😂💪🏻

I am actually here watching this because I have an old helix blue safe like this which I bought when I was a child and I have some toys and trading cards inside. I lost the key, don't know where I put it and I was desperate for a way to get my precious valuables back.
If youve dinenit a time or two you can use a small set of craft scisors to rake and tension at the same time if your realy god you can get it in one swipe.... another option if damage isnt an issue tape the tensioner as tight as you can and drop it flat in wichever directions the wafers go the inertia will set them and the box will pop open

Haha, the tools to pick the locks are stored next to the lock - you're right. Just like the key underneath the mat in front of the door.

usually these locks have pins up and bottom so dont fall for it
After you pick the lock, can you Re-Lock it without the key too?
I think it was key-retaining - so no need to pick it closed (if I remember correctly).

A big flat-headed screwdriver will do for sure ;-)

I can imagine that it's a code for the bitting of the key.
