Ganz lieben Dank, Malte. Du hast diese besondere Art zu spielen. Deine Musik zieht mich immer wieder in seinen Bann. Ich kann mich richtig fallen lassen. Danke für dein Sein! Danke für deine Musik ❤❤❤
David, I follow you for many years (before your handpan time actually). We ocasionally met in Berlin Handpan Fest '17 and I just came here to say that I admire and deeply respect your love for sharing the knowledge. since the years of your cajon and frame drums tutorials I've seen your love and dedication for it. I'm grateful for your insights, both musically as pedagogically. So yeah! Danke schoen!
Dear David. What a fantastic idea than teaching/showing us how to compose a complete song from one of the great "patterns" we learnt from you! I vote for Basslap (and Khaligi second). Also, congratulations on Season1 of these mini series: the quality of these mini tutorials is truly outstanding. It makes perfect sense to take a break from this time-consuming project: this being said, I look forward to season 2. :) Thank you sensei for transmitting your passion, and for your great work in the community. Best of luck in your new projects.
Half-Time Khaligi is one I keep coming back to, so that gets my vote! David thank you for your inspiring playing and also inspiring, accessible instruction. Such a gift to all who love handpan, both players and listeners.
I have enjoyed all your tutorials David. Your notation, pace, explanation evrything is spot on. I've been practicing on a steel tongue drum (i make these) until my ISKRA arrives in about 3 weeks. Looking forward to more inspiration from you
Hey man! Once I watched your collaboration with Nadishana I totally got stunned by your playing! I don't own a handpan yet, but your lessons really help me with improving my skills on playing RAV drum. Thanks for you effort and keep on doing it! You are the best!
Thank you David for these awesome Fridays! ❤️ It's good to have a break, so I can work on really getting this stuff down... I love these Rhythms the most: - Many Shapes Of 1 Phrase - Aksak - Limping 7
Hi David, I'm learning frame drum with you from the classes on line from your website. I now own a Rav Vast. I wish there was someone like you on line that would teach how to play the rav vast.
Thanks very much for the lessons.I am a little sad it stops now, but it gives opportunities as well.Practice more to find my own way and practice the things from your lessons deeper and better.
Be great to see how you take one or two ideas/grooves and create a song out of them. I struggle with making interesting intros and bridges. Always amazing content 🙌🏼
Great idea to revisit the compositions, David, I feel I should have done more of that, anyway. The seasonal break will hopefully provide more time for it and for you to entertain different ideas. I like the green progress bar idea too. :)
Thank you very much for the lessons. I learned a lot from you. I wish you and your family much success and good health. I hope you will back and we see your next lessons soon.
I vote for Basslap or Khaligi 2 Actually honestly If I can learn all of them as a complete piece it would be wonderful. Plus if you want to offer up each song that we can purchase as individual lessons, For example we could pay $50 or $99 to learn as many complete songs as you put out! They are so wonderful and impossible to choose just one! Thank you for your Awesomeness and for all your hard work for the Friday sessions!
First of all David, thank you so much for these weekly pieces, it was so very nice. I like this overview with you playing the pieces without the rest of the lesson, as it gives me a better flavor for what the end product will sound like, then I can go back and play with the lesson. It will be nice to have a little break, so it will allow me some additional time to practice more with the great compositions you have offered us. After listening to the 11 that you have here a number of times, there were five that stood out for me for various reasons. Half-Time Khaligi is nice in that it is a slower tempo and has an airy and almost more mysterious feel to it. Basslap is a very nice upbeat piece, sort of one you could dance to. It feels like 2-step and Khaligi 1 have a very similar beat or tempo, as though they could be different parts of the same piece. I may even try that-with a little more practice that is. I also like the Many shapes of one piece. Of these I think for me, it is Basslap, with Half-time Khaligi and Khaligi 1 tied for second and for different reasons. Thank's for the video and the inspiration to play with these some more. I'm looking very forward to next season and whatever else you do. Hope you have a great summer.
Awesome, thanks for the detailed list. I also think that some of these might work well when combined as different parts of one piece. I'll try that and see where it ends up ;)
Hey David, Thank you for so much interesting Input every Friday. I'm really looking forward to your next videos. Personally I play handpan since last christmas and I have to thank you because with your videos I have improved my skills every week.🙏🏻 Great teacher and good luck for season 2💪🏻👍🏻😃
Wow !! I have to say, I am a bit(lot:), revved up hearing this . I am just finishing your first online course (which I found amazing, in many ways,) and am stoked to start going through these "11 minutes" It may take me all summer ! ha ha, but with C-19 requiring an uninfected companion , my HP feels pretty safe ! Thanks for this, DK , a wonderful , surprise video !
Thanks you for wonderful work, great spirit and huge motivation boost, David! I'd love to see Khaligi 1 to be developed into a complete piece of music, feels like its got a lot of potential!
Great idea to make this seasonal. All eleven are great! My favourites whould be: Arpeggios for 2 for it's beautiful melody and arrangement (make a great TV series theme? 👌). #2 and certainly #10 for it's Easternized rhythm for an album track for sure. Thank you, David, for all your hard work and sensational S1. 🙏👏
It's an awesome idea. I would personally like to learn how to incorporate melodic and percussive sentences (if that makes any sense) so that the melody does not sound too busy. Furthermore, what are the main consideration when composing. Thanks so much for sharing this Friday videos are great :)
Many thanks for your lessons. They are really inspiring and though I'm learning very slow (maybe the break before season 2 will let me catch up), I've found that my skills are increasing. I'm fascinated by the Khaligi 1 groove and by left hand development exercise, but anyway, it's just the beginning. :)
@@DavidKuckhermann Looks like there's going to be another winner. :) BTW, Half-time Khaligi is fascinating as well, but that "9" note always confuses me. It would be great if you could add an alternative variant to those fragments like you did in "short idea to composition" video. :)
Thank a lot for the summary, there is plenty to practice :)! Will you release a document on Patreon with all these in a single file? That would be really helpful. Thanks a lot again!
Can you please make a video on how to keep your handpan from getting out of scale or problems with humidity and sunlight.. generally how the maintenance for hanpans work?? Is it worth buying in a tropical atmosphere like India??
Hi David i have a 13 note no dingtone instrument do you think i should still focus on learning rythmicheavy sounds or focus on melody(this means my tac is more like a slap in between notes)
Half time khaligi. I have a Rav Vast with only 8 notes and the central one. What work-around could I apply to work on some of your lessons with 9 notes?
Does anyone know if all these 11 composition are tutorials somewhere? I don't see any tutorials with these titles, except Arpeggio. Im looking for Bass Thanks
My main concern in composing is structure! The building of a melody into an instrumental that has an intro, middle, bridge and ending? Basically, l don't know how to? Yet! 😆🤔
Dear David, thank you so much for your lessons - they are so helpful! My favorite is "Many shapes of one phrase", because I made already a composition from this former lesson, but it feels like there is still something missing. The second one is SAMAI, because my son has a handpan with a Hijaz scale, and I would like to compose something with him together, and the third one is the half time Khaligi, because I´m very fond of slow rhythms.
very hard to catch up and my handpan has 8 notes not 9 , so much confusion , I gave up and threw my handpan back to the aliens. need some more easier where you break down step by step, pleasee !!
Ganz lieben Dank, Malte. Du hast diese besondere Art zu spielen. Deine Musik zieht mich immer wieder in seinen Bann. Ich kann mich richtig fallen lassen. Danke für dein Sein! Danke für deine Musik ❤❤❤

Great Stuff! The "Khaligi-Grooves" 1 and 2 sounds amazing and also the #6 Left Hand Workout-Groove sounds amazing!

Thank u very much for u open work, David! Great material for self-study!
With love and respect from Russia).
I loved your left hand workout track.. 💓 and the many shapes afterwards
I like "Many Shapes Of 1 Phrase" most and added some variations to it. I play it every day :-D
Cheers Volker. Thanks for letting me know, I'm glad you're enjoying the piece and especially that you add your own variations as well!
I vote for #2 the basslap . Great work thank you for sharing this !

You're very welcome, I had a blast thanks to you guys!

Thanks for your work, David! My vote for "Half-Time Khaligi", it sounds cool and looks simple to learn)
Love them all! Left hand workout would be my vote just because of it's simplicity.
Thank you very much for the lessons. I learned a lot from you. I wish you and your family much success and good health. I hope you will back and we see your next lessons soon.

Awesome Женя, thanks!
Absolutely wonderful; loved listening to each of these. I have a weakness for Hijaz flavor; so #10 really grabbed me.
Thanks Carol, me too! I would have suspected #10 coming out as winner, but Khaligi and Half-Timr Khaligi seem to be heading as of now. 😁
@@DavidKuckhermann Well, I really liked both of those, too. But my Persian -> flamenco backgrounds led me to #10. :D

Limping and Half-time Khaliji!
You are great❤️👌
Prredy good thanks so much ❤❤❤❤for your video
Dang, it's hard to choose. Backslap and the one in 10/4 time are my faves.
I haven't gotten into composition, mostly I play aleatory music. But then I have so many other instruments... :)
Thanks Rrrose, that's a good feedback as well! ;)
Please David

You're welcome Fred, thanks for the thumbs up! 👍
You re welcome David, i love the Khaligi 1, great balance between groove and melody with a sort of chill / summer vibe
Hola hermano. Quisiera saber si puedes hacer algun tutorial de ritmos latinos y jazz.
Muchas gracias
Love #2
Half time khaligi. I have a Rav Vast with only 8 notes and the central one. What work-around could I apply to work on some of your lessons with 9 notes?
It depends on your scale. Often 7 works well instead of 9, but you can use any tone field and try which one sounds best.
@@DavidKuckhermann it's a G Pygmy.
When will we know if we loose the handpan
How match this instruments?
Like mutch.
Do you have any suggestions to play the melodies which use the 9th note on a handpan with only 8 notes ?
Often 7 works as substitute for 9, but you can simply try your available notes and see which sounds best.
Regarding your question about handpan player struggles. I believe repetition is the bigest enemy of handpan music players (me included)
Thank you for the lesson (too difficult for me now....):-(
This video is a summary of some of the video lessons of the 3 months before. Some of those videos guide you towards the compositions step by step

I forgot to add the links. You can find them now in the video description.
@@DavidKuckhermann Thank you very much. Each lesson matches actual song titles...nice
