Handpan/Pantam artform will grow even more thanks to this amazing sharings! 💗 An what amazing video work, Really love to see the duets on the sofa ✌🏼
This is awesome !!! though it's a bit too hard for me but it motivates me to practice more 😆 I've been watching your videos for years though I've never met you, but you absolutely are my best teacher thank you for uploading all the tutorials !!
thanks for your kind words Kuan! 🙏 As I mentioned in the video, this one is definitely tricky. But I'll break things down on some of the rhythms and go slower in some of the upcoming episodes.
@@ChrisDeJuanMusic Thanks Christian! The production takes a lot of time, but somehow feels like part of the creative expression, just like the music. :)
@@DavidKuckhermann I can imagine it takes long hours of hard work...but fun too! As you say, it's all part of your creative process... anyway, thanks for sharing your knowledge and making these amazing videos... please keep up the good work... it's inspiring! :)
David, brother, good to see You in 2020 👁Following your music and lessons since 2012. You look great. And your music and teaching are just amazing... such a great level of self devoting. I am more into Psychedelic trance music (hybrid from psytrance / world). And I play percussion a bit. Was learning on your lessons. And wanna say - one of the best video lessons. And I am also doing tutorials around music production. You are here to expand peoples vibrational structures, to give alternative rhythms. This is a great healing. Natural percussion is our future / ancient technology that we just starting to explore. Sound energy, combined with right mind-set and spiritual awakening will give a big force to those of us who can translate this energy. Have a great day. Man, love your art! You are blessed I am sure. And Nadishana. You both))) I know him. Took a private lesson in Bali. Great person. Great music. You are for me TOP musicians and composers. Bless You and your family. Let the force be with you. P.S. Will be great to make some music together. Let me know if you r keen... dream5talker.com dreamport.bandcamp.com
Awesome video David, with great practical demos and sweet melodies, love them all. I've been entranced by Eastern/Oriental music for quite a while now, and am realising just how many amazing uneven rhythms they encompass, creating such rich textures, accents and features, way beyond what's possible with the even 4 count. Thanks for inspiration to extend and expand my own range of compositions and timings and see how far down the rabbit hole we can go. . . Blessings. . .
Thank you for another awesome Friday Fun Day with your lessons. I really appreciate the detailed counting, the moving highlights on the notation so we can follow along with your flying fingers, the explanation of the odd meters, so much information to last us a couple of months practice to get comfortable.
I don't play handpan. I'm a guitarist. And, I love this tutorial! It helps me a bit more to understand odd rythms and to apply them to my instrument! I wish you will broaden your tutorial to "rythms" in general, konakol, or music philosophy and mindset... Wish you the best bro :) And I'm looking forward for the next lessons! Thanks
Hi David :) I really enjoy your lessons. Are you planning to do one about konnakol? I use konnakol in my playing and I would really like to see your insight in it. Thanks !
Hi David, also really loved this video especially the Turkish part! You mentioned "hip-hop", how about doing a video to teach us some proper hip-hop grooves?? 😋
Great tutorial. Although most of it way above my level just now. It gives me something to save for later and work towards. I also just love to see how these grooves are played by someone with your experience/skill. Thanks again.
@@DavidKuckhermann Id say I like the sort of hiphop feel to the Turkish 9/8 at around 4:30 mark. Yeh would be nice to see some breakdowns for these.. Thanks.
Man, I dig your rhythms... Makes me KNOW that my bizarre grooves COULD potentially work in a handpan. Doesn't change reality, but guess it's good to know and I can at least listen... I have this tendency to start with 1 rhythm and literally rip it completely apart in as many ways as possible and then eventually see if I can find my way back... Something I feel you may be familiar with, even in passing ;) PS you even make the cajon sound good PSS you just helped me figure out what it is that calls to me about these; the sound is so incredibly ancient and yet just as incredibly relevant... Like singing wisdom from thousands of years ago... Can almost picture King David playing one....
@@DavidKuckhermann decidedly handpan... Funny you should compare rhythm to a puzzle; it's almost a 3 dimensional game of percussive Tetris to me While the wood to make the cajon would certainly have been widely available, hey we're also quite the metallurgists as well so potentially possible... Look at how complicated the salimbaa of the Philippines is and it was just recently recovered by Caleb Byerly (my friend, brother in Messiah and the luthier who replaced the soundboard of my 14 string lyre/harp). That instrument was ancient too.
Thanks, David! Awesone lesson on these exotic rhythms that are challenging but well worth the effort. Could you tell me pls, did you modify that cajon with a cabasa on the side? Did you buy it complete? Cheers, mate.
