@@nicksymmonds if you watch closely you step forward as her hand is still in motion. I think you needed to wait for her hand to complete the gesture and then re reack. That being said, very harsh.
Nick , you gotta admit that you didn’t even look at the main judge and forgot to look for the signal. Just because in slow motion it was close in timing with her hand in the air it doesn’t matter. You have to show a motionless locked out knees position at the end and you simply didn’t accomplish that. Sorry man.
I think it’s fair to say we all wanna see Nick attempt another powerlifting competition in the future and bring home that gold! This was a great video 💪
@@ahmetturgut6131 Very true. That comes from experience. The adrenalin factor of the competition makes a big difference. All of my PR's were set in meets, not in training.
Hey Nick, I was a competitor that day at the Branch Warren Classic who got silver in your weight class! I'm shown squatting at 2:09 . Nice to see you got bronze and that you and I weren't far off each other totalwise! Hope to see you around in another CO local meet sometime this year! As for the squat, you did jump the rerack command. Your hip crease is below the top of the knee so you weren't called on depth. The side refs were looking to see you lockout completely before moving forward.
Fair lift in my book! Met you in Philly, New York, and Boston in September and it's insane to see your strength build since then! Looking forward to the Nick Symmonds Too vid.
Hey Nick, love your energy bro, you're an inspiration. I separated my shoulder a few years ago and my body hasn't been the same but I've been trying my best to salvage what I have and still push forward to be my strongest. Thanks for sharing your experience and I wish you the best! ✊✊
Between the DQ on squat #3, and the somewhat conservative bench and deadlift, you definitely had over 1100 in you today Nick. And great to see that deadlift number climbing. The 500lb + 5:00 challenge is definitely attainable for you later this year.
Congrats on your first competition nick! I just wanna thank you for inspiring so many people like me out there and showing everyone that anything is possible ❤️
big up Champ !!! thats how you do it .... you easily got another 5 to 8 kgs on the Squat, 2 to 5 kgs on the bench and at least 10 kgs on the deadlift. Very excited to see you get to your absolute best !!!

you're doing such great work in the fitness community, keeping it real, awesome lifts, absolutely great squat form, I salute you! for being an olympic runner years before your mobility is amazing!
well done! it's really beautiful as a powerlifter to see new people get into the sport! your third squat looked good from the video, plus it's really strange for the head ref to give a white light if you missed a command. A possible explanation would be if she waved her hand before saying the command out loud so you saw the command but the two other judges did not hear it quite yet, in which case you should get your lift (in cases like this, where there are 2 red light your coach is allowed to go talk to the judges to ask for explanation and it can get your lift back on the board). Anyway great job i hope this will help to get more people into the sport and i hope you had a great time competing!!
