They obviously have not been in a situation before ,Shit can turn ugly and bad in seconds .I have been there ,things are not what they appear when it happens .I would not how ever have done what they are doing in any case even with a life jacket ,they dont guarantee your life when a swell hits ,,That is madness being that close to the water
Lots of ill informed comments. A place like that while being very wet is not that dangerous because if a wave does crash over it they will just get knocked back on their arses and pushed back across the shelf. Lots of scrapes and bruises. A narrow shelf where the wave runs up a vertical wall behind you and then all that water rushes straight back out to sea is WAY more dangerous. You are 100% going into the sea. The major problem is the clothes they are wearing. If you're going rock fishing dress appropriate expecting to have to swim in what you wear. Its Sydney, not Tasmania, its not that cold. Wear a 'spring' wetsuit and some board shorts if you want to fish wet places like that. The other key issue is where can you safely and relatively easily get out if you do get washed in.
couple of rules these guys have broken the unwritten ones ,. the guy in Yellow turned his back on the sea , that location is a dangerous one and NO LIFEJACKET on a big no no . seas are not what id call decent to fish that platform . Then if they lose a life , they plead ignorance . fishing the stones for 45 yrs . its a place where you respect the sea , i was an original LBGF guy fished the dangerous cliffs at Point Perp , plus Kiama , easts high the pulpit and city rock at Eden , fished for ludes at Hill 60 and cowries plus bass point , pointing out why i made my comment backed by experience
And anyhow, they are all fishing what looks to me to be the wrong place on that platform. I'd expect the whitewater 'drain' on the very lower left of the picture to be drier, safer, and more productive.
Stupid test their stupidity to see if the wave can pull them out. Are the fish worth more then their live. Many rock fishermen die like this from these dangerous weather and swell and not wearing a life vest which cost only about $40. End of the day is not about how these people die but it's about the family that have to live with it.

PLACE IS CLIFF BRIDGE-COALCLIFF
Why would you fish for rocks?
🤣 rock fishing means fishing on rocks to catch fish, not fishing for rocks
Yerp. I almost got swept out once a wave came in and I ran to the cliff wall and held on as it washed up to my waste and almost pulled me off.
@MrChickoamigo This video was taken from Sea Cliff bridge at Coalcliff, NSW

This location is a popular rock fishing spot at Little Bay off the golf course. Only those who wear life buoy jackets should attempt this rock.
