I understand that good swimmers don't want to wear life jackets when rock fishing, but if you get a head knock on the rocks as you are swept into the ocean by a big wave, the life jacket can still help to save your life. Unconscious and floating is better than unconscious and underwater. It also gives others the chance to rescue you.
I was there that day fishing further away, with full disagreement to this video and lifejackets. I’ve fished for 12 years off the rocks never been washed in, never worn a life jacket because I fish in safe conditions. This man was uneducated and the swell was 0.9-1M southerly that day, tiny swell. This bloke did not have rock shoes and slipped in, I asked him where is his rock shoes beforehand. After he came back to shore with scratches all on his arms, I once again told him to never fish the stones without rock shoes. Education, knowledge common sense means more then finding justification in wearing lifejackets.
@ “knowledge vest is compulsory” 😂 I literally told the bloke don’t fish without rock shoes common sense right. He said “nah I’ve got a lifejacket” 30 minutes later he’s in the drink because he slipped in. Yeah common sense and knowledge alright 👍 bloke would’ve never ended up in the water to begin with
