Hey man, Storm player here. Never ever give a storm player 2 rituals. If you had given him Past in Flames and Manamorphose he'd be done for the turn because he couldn't cast Past. You would have lived another turn to find an answer to his cost reducer.

I love how you are thinking of the community creating a strong decks that's literally 1/10th the cost of a tier 1 deck and they reward you with "you don't know what PAF means" when I'm sure they've spent that much at the bar last week. Keep it up my friend. Excellent work.

Grapeshot wouldn't have been able to target you through the spirit giving you heroic because he has to select all his targets before Grapeshot can resolve.

I know the quick videos always get the most views but I almost feel like more people could benefit from a sharing of your actual knowledge of the game. I have been a follower since the very beginning and you have been my favorite since, I almost tried to contact you through email to see if I could somehow help you with your videos to help produce more material because you have the following who self promote you for your forward thinking and disdain for the way WOTC treats its lovers... Like shit, the treat us like shit. But you bring light where there is darkness, hope where there is fear! Lol, thanks for all the hard work and look forward to seeing you continue to grow!
Please keep up the PAF videos because it's what a lot of people look for when trying to make deck because no one wants to spend money lol and also it would help find some cards that people are sleeping on that could be really good and it could just help people get into whatever format you want to take the PAF videos with

I put this list together the other night night on MTGO after I saw it posted in a Reddit thread. 40-odd bucks on MTGOTraders made it kind of hard to resist trying out.
I came away very impressed with how powerful it is! I was able to beat Tron (2-1), UW Control (2-1), Junk Midrange (2-1), BUG Delirium (2-0), Death and Taxes (2-1) and Burn (2-0) in the Tournament Practice lobby.
I'm actually starting to think that Sram's Expertise is the missing link in all the Tempered Steel lists, that card is absolutely BONKERS.
Sram's into Tempered Steel, Etched Champion or even just a removal spell can be just so damn disgusting from a tempo perspective. I was truly impressed, going to work on tweaking it a little, maybe adding a few paths/surgicals and/or splashing black.

Awesome deck! A lot of these cards seem to fit into the normal affinity list as well so it's easy to upgrade over time. Definitely going to look into this.

I've been playing a version like this but I'm playing Memnites, Indomitable Archangel, and I splashed blue for Ensoul Artifact and Thoughtcast. This is a very cool list, never thought to include Blinkmoth Nexus.

Isn't aegis of the gods good against grapeshot? You need a valid target for the copies, since you have to choose them immediatly, you can't split it like 1 & rest face, or am I wrong?
when you cast a spell you have to choose all targets at once and since the aegis of the gods in on the field at the time the targets are being chosen, the player is not a legal target. So yes you are right
Just want to add, it stops Gifts Ungiven as well. So it is pretty good in that matchup.

difference with storm is they aren't being cast--they are copies being placed on the stack so you can get around chalice and certain targeting rules
You cannot get around hexproof with a copied spell. What are you talking about?
I would love to see you revist this with Steel Overseer going down to 2 bucks and Leyline going down to 7 with m20 reprints! I feel some of these reprints can really help this deck grow a little more!

Magic Aids it was a lot of fun. People would get mad thinking i was dropping a crater hoof or walking ballista till they saw wealth then their like whaaaaat!! Lol
I fking love this idea. PaF idea is awesome! Now I want to emphasize that not every deck should be budget, but they are great to include! Personally about 20% of the decks you showcase being budget decks would be a pretty nice spread. (I wouldn't count tweaking a deck and doing a version 2 a whole new deck btw. I do like that, but I wouldn't put it toward that 20% spread ya know?)

I have played a lot of Affinity. The best hands involve cranial plating; please play 4! Also consider steel shapers gift in white.

Great deck! Toolcraft exemplar is super good here. I love tempered steel as a budget deck, however my favourite deck right now is my version of tier1 Affinity which i changed in removing the signal pests (bad value against fatal push + snapcaster or cards like k-command, electrolyse) and adding 4 chalice of the void to the main. Chalice is kind of an auto win card against 80% of the decks in my meta: deaths shadow, many combo decks, grixis, burn, all delver decks... the only onedrop i got is springleaf drum, playing 2 shrapnel blast (best surprise finisher) and 2 thoughtcast for the 4 galvanic blasts. Also the best things you can bring in in game 2 are counterspells like Stubborn denial, spell pierce - or in my version: negate or unified will.
I don't know why the top lists either don't play chalice at all or as a one of in the sb.
So my idea for this deck would be a blue-white version with the blue counterspell sideboard plan and the option to bring master of etherium, because etched champion is dead against a good amount of decks like eldrazi/tron or in the mirror.
+HANSDAMPF Hmm... chalice affinity sounds pretty sweet! I might need to give that a try; plus, it can be my excuse to return to affinity :)
Just be aware that you wont make friends by dropping a card like chalice on turn 1 :D:D (if you play in paper). I had some opponents scoop immediately after that play. I change my affinity deck every 2 weeks, however this is my favourite build. usually i finish 4:1 or at least 3:2.
I think a non budget version would make a great follow up video. Have you considered porcelin legionaire/vault skirge/walking balista? Im not sure how they would fit in but they could be decent, balista is a bit of a nonbo with expertise though. Another card suggestion for the sideboard could be runed halo for against storm / valakhut. Great videos and keep up the good work.

this deck feels a lot like the modern version of my black white servos deck, even though they don't share many cards, they play very similarly

have you considered smuggler's copter? Easy to crew (maybe a few changes needed for more 1p creatures?), great with tempered steel, more evasion to push damage, and card selection...something the deck is lacking. Maybe as a 1 or 2 of? Affinity has been cleaning up GPs, wonder if this version can hold its own
+UpHeave smuggler's copter could work, although I'm not sure what we would cut. Affinity is doing well mostly because of its speed, so I'm not sure if this version is fast enough for the current meta

isnt grapeshot targeted while all grapeshots are still on the stack? so you cant target face until after aegis is dead, but aegis doesnt die until after every grapeshot is targeted and enters the stack. theyd need to have grapeshot plus some other spell or ability that they can resolve before storm
or i guess the right way to say it is that aegis needs to change zones for you to target face with grapeshot, but it can't change zones until the stack clears?
if you wanted to cut down on steel overseer costs you could *almost* do a good impression with mikaeus the lunarch

Have you considered mikaeus the lunarch as a budget repalcement for steel overseer? He can pump the team almost as well and can start bigger if you draw him late

I think it isn’t correct to bring out dispatch against storm and maybe you should have even brought in he sun lance. The best way to beat storm is to kill their baral and you took out all your means of doing so. It is WAY harder for storm to win without a baral. Like they pretty much need at least 5-6 lands which buys you plenty of time to kill them

Why are you running Cranial Plating without black? Was that just a budget thing due to the cost of lands? Otherwise not seeing the purpose of monocolor. Seems like adding blue or black would be good blue for enchant making artifacts 5/5 etc. Deck looks pretty sweet for an affinity starter-deck.
What blue enchantment are you referring to? I think he went mono color because of all the double white costs

Mono blue with Thoughtcast and Ensoul Artifact + Vault Skirge looks stronger for about the same budget

+Joshua Kane no problem! For this one, I would say court homunculus is a decent card to sub in. The nexuses can also be replaced by basics if need be

I hate affinity as a deck in general. The cards are expensive and can't be played in different decks (which sucks for brewing) and the gameplay is not particularly fun IMO. That being said I like what you came up with here. Looks solid enough to have some fun in leagues or with friends. It feels a bit more like white weenies/tokens with an artifact theme, more than actual affinity but I guess It's the closest you can get while retaining both testicles.
