"Threats Around Every Corner" is a must include in this deck. Getting another land off the first commander trigger, and then flipping whatever you manifested is insane.
I would probably add in cards if you do an extended list that want to be thrown into the graveyard such as blue flashback cards or include some of the recursion cards that are in green so you can regain what put in the grave even if you don't want it their. That being said two permanents that can work well in this deck is Elvish Piper and Monster Manual so you can just cheat out your big creatures from your hand.
Crucible of worlds fits very well with those "fetch lands", giving you the two land drop every turn, althought the land enters tapped unless you have Spelunki or something like that.
Ashaya, Soul of the Wild All your manifests are lands to trigger Zimone. Even as something as simple as making your first land drop to trigger her manifest will make her create a land to trigger herself again so you can immediately flip it up.
Just to put it out there, I'm pretty sure Kianna is in the Jump Scare precon, not to synergize with Zimone, but to provide an alternate path for "jump scares" since it'd be about summoning/casting things at Flash speed
There's actually several cards in Duskmourn itself that should have practically been auto-includes: --Overlord of the Hauntwoods: creates a land token when it enters or attacks. --Abhorrent Oculus: manifests dread on *each* opponents upkeep. --Hedge Shredder: 5 mana vehicle that puts land cards that you 'manifest dread' into the graveyard onto the battlefield tapped. --Paranormal Analyst: 2 mana creature that lets you keep the unchosen card from manifesting dread.
I would strongly recommend Bonny Pall, Clearcutter. She's got everything: card draw, land play, she's huge and her ox is huger Edit: let me stress that that land play is from your hand or your GRAVEYARD!
@@artgosling2696 At the same time, bonny pall is still good even without making beau because it's still a draw and land drop trigger whenever you attack on a pretty good statline if you cheat it into play. And if you don't cheat it into play, then you just treat it as normal anyway in which it's still pretty good.
Two cards I really like as add ins are One with the Multiverse and Omniscience. Since Zimone can flip over anything that was manifested, being able to get either into play early is always cool.
That’s true but you have to be careful as if you have too many big bombs and they are stuck in hand, it’s not fun. Therefore, I really like cards with multiple purposes like the Skyturtle they added.
I think I would probably put in Soothsaying as a budget side grade for Scroll Rack, u vs 2 for a casting cost, soothsaying can re-shuffle for uu3, but only manipulates your deck, not your hand.
Might consider adding in Slogurk, the Overslime. It can quickly grow, and provides both incentive and insurance against throwing too many lands into the graveyard. Edit: Growing Rites of Italmoc is a great budget card and extremely easy to flip.

Not only that, it spyrals out of control if you have alternative ways to manifest dread up like Abhorrent Oculus, Scroll of Fate and such... Every manifest essentially cheats something into play and ramps mana very quickly

@@dhill859 depends on what you’ve already cut. I would recommend that a lot of lands get swapped out for the New Capenna auto-sac lands mainly, because those are auto second triggers also, and they didn’t touch the lands mostly. I’d have to watch the video again to see exactly what the cuts and recommendations are, if we’re going solely off of that base, though. Let me check. Oh, and make sure you have lots of basics.

I am really hoping for the establishment of a CEDH RC to set a separate ban list and give that community (which is not as small as it is treated) some much needed representation.
Put the Skitterspike you remove into Bello. I think a Case of the Locked Hothouse can go a long way towards some extra card advantage and the extra landfalls.
Surprised that you didn't shout out Ashaya as one of the best cards in the deck. As it makes all of your nontoken creatures until Forests, the first trigger on Zimone's ability will trigger her a second time, as the manifested creature *comes in as a land,* therefore triggering her a second time!
Rachel Weeks plus "Command Zone employee" are my favorite deck techs. Murph has a great grasp of the rules and they both have such awesome recommendations for upgrades. Love the work you all do and keep it up!
54:03 I was going through my loose cards looking for what I could already toss in this deck, and I pulled out Giant Adephage and smiled. Then I got to this part of the video and laughed. I can't wait to jump scare my playgroup with this guy.
One thing I think should absolutely be in the deck is Uro. He is a big creature as a 6/6 with a great attack trigger that also has a bad ETB of sacrificing it that manifest dread gets around. At the same time, he utilizes the graveyard that isn’t fully taken advantage of with the deck, even though it does fill the graveyard. I bought the Simic deck from modern horizons three so I have a spare one laying around, but it is an include. I’d highly recommend.

Then you have fun with your casual commander games with your friends while the rest of us play CEDH. Its called competitive for a reason and no need to banned JL or MC to make it easier for casual players to join when there still dual lands and chrome mox that a legal to the format. Jeweled lotus was created to be an answer to this stuff. But look what a dual lands would cost you with a chrome mox 4x the price as a JL. But thats still casual play?
I hand built her after pulling her from a colector pack and already had all the cards to add to her yall mentioned and coincidentally its a bunch of the precon now im not opposed tho cuz the deck is pretty great!
I personally added more disguise / morph cards that provide interaction when they are flipped. What is great is that you can either pay their morph/disguise cost or their normal cost if you manifested them. Can save you quite some mana in cases you need to flip some of them without your commander.
personally I want to add the new manifest Kozilek. It does a bit of everything. It replaces itself by letting me manifest two card, lets me draw cards, and turns my 2/2's into 5/4's making them a threat all in themselves.
I kind of want to build this as no ability and colorless tribal. There are effects that buff creatures with no abilities, and it turns out the manifest have no abilities. Most of them are permanent too, so you can just run a bunch of them and if you don’t have enough run colorless creature support. Like Graaz the unstoppable for funnies.
For future I would love if you guys would discuss a little more about the backup commander more as a option and a quick discussions of what to build a deck with it like A lot of decks here the backup commander is also fun.
Undergrowth Recon is a great card for this deck because you can guarantee 2 lands a turn with fetchlands even if you dont have a land to play. At least until you run out of basic lands in your deck.

After I opened this precon on the day of pre-release, I found out that it actually already had Harrow included in it. Strange how these things work out for the better.
Yidaro, + Asha, is a infintie combo that can accidentily deck yourself otherwise it is very powerful. I am sure they were aware of it during creation of the deck. I have seen games now with the deck where it has and hasnot worked do to milling or is it manifesting pieces away. It is a cool set even though I don't care that much for horror outside slashers and creature feature.

One card I think everyone should at least consider adding is “become anonymous” from assassins creed. Sure it’s 4 mana. But it instantly protects one of your creatures, gets you 3 things that are manifested. And the second your thing is safe just play a fetch land and bring the creature right back
Definitely missed putting Ixidor, reality sculptor in this deck, incase the land doesn't happen you can still flip for low cost. As well as zoetic cavern/branch of vitu-ghazi both lands that can be flipped back over cause of moprh and disguise
I wanna get this solely as a base to build the other Zimone with. Prime number landfall is so cool and it’s the first Simic commander I’ve seen that interests me
For some reason, I really want this to be a Simic Gitrog Monster-type deck. Use Zimone and self mill to dump a bunch of lands into the graveyard, which I then pull out with Crucible of Worlds, etc.
Ugin's Mastery is very cheap and gives you another flip ability. Even if you're not casting colorless creatures, I think it's still worth a look just for that.
Well, any morph/disguise cards are cast as colorless creatures! (You probably already knew that, but want to make sure others know for this deck theme)
when I made mine, I put in these following: blightsteel colossus, omniscience, The eldrazi titans (to reset my graveyard), echoing deeps and shifting woodland (to be a fetch/permanent in my grave), aetherplasm (A true jump scare if you have an amazing creature in your hand), splendid reclamation, and lurking predators.
I played it last night. Holy cow it’s amazing. Add Kogla, the Titan ape, and add silverback elder, and add insidious fungus, and steel bane hydra. Having a counterspell or removal spell face down cause that was your only manifest dread option feels bad. Having a creature turn face up and attack triggers destroy enchantments is way stronger.

Hmmm, no mention of the infinite in the base precon with Yedora and Steve/Whisperwood Elemental while Zimone’s landfall is in play? Well, upgrades to take advantage would be Defense of the Heart to grab the pieces on upkeep. Some free sac outlets to turn any creature into an infinite engine. And a Concordant Crossroads for haste after so many landfall triggers and/or manifesting and flipping your whole library off Whisperwood. EDIT: Pathbreaker Ibex for your permanent based overrun effect.
@@TattooedAndTilted Yedora saying it comes back as a face down forest triggers Zimone’s landfall to flip it face up again. So sac, bring back, flip up, sac, bring back, flip up …. And so on. You don’t actually care about Steve’s ability to grab a land, just the self sacrifice.
Yedora, Grave Gardener is my pet deck. I do like it as it is now, as it's actually a colorless spell/artifact creature based deck. I like the story it tells of artifice giving way to nature and becoming overgrown as forests after they die. As it runs, though, it's a bit clunky and awkward with what it wants to do. But this precon/set has given the actual mechanics of it some real gas. I'm brewing it now as a mono-green combo deck with lots of hidden combat tricks. I'm super excited about it! One concern I have about the precon upgrades suggestion would be frankly how much mana you'll have vs how much you'll use. It looks like you'll be drowning in mana quickly with this deck, and having good means to spend it will be huge. I'd probably recommend one of the myriad of creatures that you can pump mana into to turn a land into a creature, just as an additional jumpscare on board.
@iamunnami I might buy both precons and see which one I like best. If Death Toll ends up being funner, then maybe throw a few creatures from Jump Scare in?
With the Citanul Heirophants I was tapping scutes. But anyway what's the opinion on things like Crucible of Worlds? Is it not in this list for budget reasons? Or even things like Azusa, Lost but Seeking.
I think Kianne is actually awesome in the 99 but I don't like her in the command zone, so I agree as an alternative commander she's not great. The deck draws a non-zero amount of cards and she can very quickly become a very large creature, while also allowing you to cast land ramp spells instant speed.
See this is where I'm confused. Zimona says you can flip the face down card at any time if its a creature. But if it's say an enchantment can it not be flipped? Can it only stay as a face down 2/2 creature?
Zimone says you can turn a permanent you control face up on her 2nd landfall trigger. It doesn't specify creatures here so applies to any permanent (not instants, as they mention here in the video). This is a great way to get big, expensive permanents into play (enchantments, creatures etc). The "turn it face up any time for it's mana cost if it's a creature card" is a part of the Manifest Dread mechanic. You can do this with or without Zimone on the battlefield. So either you get a 2nd landfall trigger and turn it up for free (as above), or you just pay the creature's mana cost and turn it up anyway. The "Jump Scare" theme is because you can do this "at any time", so you declare attackers, maybe your opponent declares no blockers, then in response you flip the card up from a 2/2 to a big scary creature that is now not being blocked. They thought they would be taking 2 damage, but instead they're taking a much bigger hit!
Nobody ever really like face down mechanics. When morph first came out it was disliked, they redid it in tarkir it was disliked. It’s a formula they keep trying (and failing) to make fun and interesting tbh

I mean all you have to do is watch RUclips gameplay. This deck more often then not is the threat. The rakdos deck is the only other one that offers competition I've seen in gameplay.
Rachel and Josh!! This ban is absurd!! I am a newer player (2yrs) and I'm tired of hearing how these decisions are done to make things better or more accessible for me. I only own one of these cards, Jeweled Lotus, which I pulled from a pack so this is not about money to me personally. This is the opposite of what players need! If anything, these bans should be for CEDH and have a separate ban list! Even then, you hit dockside but not Thassa's Oracle?? That is the RC equivalent of kingmaking... I know the RC is more than you two, and Olivia, etc. That said, where is the voice of the people in this?? If you want to officiate for CEDH, then make a list for them. There is no point to this and it has only inflamed the community across all forums. This was a bad move, a bad look, and unnecessary. Sol ring is more broken than mana crypt and it is fine! Turn 1 Jeweled lotus, land, 4 cmc commander is a BAD PLAY. That gets your commander killed right away. If people aren't running removal, that is on them. This feels so out of touch.. just like anything.. people that like something say nothing, and people that don't complain loudly. The voices calling for these to have been banned... may be loud, but that is all. That does not mean they meaningfully represent the playerbase. Respectfully... split cedh and commander, or get your opinions (the whole RC) out of commander altogether. A decision like this further days we do not need you (RC) and that buying new commander product is a good way to get burned. Multiple sets in the last year were sold and valued based on these chase cards (crypt and lotus) in special arts.. yet we just spit on the players by banning them now? Absolutely. The commander just flips cards over, doesn't care if it's plotted, manifested, morphed or irixidon'ed - and if you run enough blink and bounce you can always pull the commander back.
I have a kadena deck. Ixidron is an awkward card. I'd never take it out because it's too damn funny, but it takes a special scenario to work. My deck is a jank mess of morph and ninjutsu, so I have non morphable cards, but the main drawback is kadena. She can't flip herself up. So even if all my other creatures can, she can't. I have a fair amount of flicker in the deck to get back my ninjas, but if I can't, that ixidron just sits in my hand until the board permits it.
Zimone is such bait as a place to put all your otherwise-unusable battlecruiser cards, since there's so many engines to play and flip them you can get away with 5-6 before they screw up the deck's curve as dead draws.
This channel contributed to having fast mana rocks currently banned, directly and indirectly. Just sold off all my EDH staples, and committed to proxying all my EDH decks. Not going to handover my money to WotC just to buy cards that will be banned arbitrarily, all in the name of subjective fun and inclusiveness.

Uro, Titan of Natures Wrath is cracked in this deck. If you manifest dread it, when you flip them over, their sacrifice trigger won't occur!!!

One card I think everyone should at least consider adding is “become anonymous” from assassins creed. Sure it’s 4 mana. But it instantly protects one of your creatures, gets you 3 things that are manifested. And the second your thing is safe just play a fetch land and bring the creature right back
Definitely missed putting Ixidor, reality sculptor in this deck, incase the land doesn't happen you can still flip for low cost. As well as zoetic cavern/branch of vitu-ghazi both lands that can be flipped back over cause of moprh and disguise
I wanna get this solely as a base to build the other Zimone with. Prime number landfall is so cool and it’s the first Simic commander I’ve seen that interests me
For some reason, I really want this to be a Simic Gitrog Monster-type deck. Use Zimone and self mill to dump a bunch of lands into the graveyard, which I then pull out with Crucible of Worlds, etc.
Ugin's Mastery is very cheap and gives you another flip ability. Even if you're not casting colorless creatures, I think it's still worth a look just for that.
Well, any morph/disguise cards are cast as colorless creatures! (You probably already knew that, but want to make sure others know for this deck theme)
after playing the deck out kefnut feels great because u eventually run out of fetchable lands

when I made mine, I put in these following:
blightsteel colossus, omniscience, The eldrazi titans (to reset my graveyard), echoing deeps and shifting woodland (to be a fetch/permanent in my grave), aetherplasm (A true jump scare if you have an amazing creature in your hand), splendid reclamation, and lurking predators.
Conduit of world's to play your fetch lands multiple times is really good

I played it last night. Holy cow it’s amazing. Add Kogla, the Titan ape, and add silverback elder, and add insidious fungus, and steel bane hydra. Having a counterspell or removal spell face down cause that was your only manifest dread option feels bad. Having a creature turn face up and attack triggers destroy enchantments is way stronger.
In the same vein as soul of the harvest, guardian project goes nutty with Zimone since each face down creature has no name!
I'm pretty sure this deck has 38 lands in it, not 37.

Hmmm, no mention of the infinite in the base precon with Yedora and Steve/Whisperwood Elemental while Zimone’s landfall is in play?
Well, upgrades to take advantage would be Defense of the Heart to grab the pieces on upkeep. Some free sac outlets to turn any creature into an infinite engine. And a Concordant Crossroads for haste after so many landfall triggers and/or manifesting and flipping your whole library off Whisperwood.
EDIT: Pathbreaker Ibex for your permanent based overrun effect.
How would this go infinite if Steve enters facedown after you sac him to get the land to flip whisperwood?
@@TattooedAndTilted Yedora saying it comes back as a face down forest triggers Zimone’s landfall to flip it face up again. So sac, bring back, flip up, sac, bring back, flip up …. And so on.
You don’t actually care about Steve’s ability to grab a land, just the self sacrifice.
Some of the numbers are allowed to be a little lower because it has high deck velocity.
Yedora, Grave Gardener is my pet deck. I do like it as it is now, as it's actually a colorless spell/artifact creature based deck. I like the story it tells of artifice giving way to nature and becoming overgrown as forests after they die. As it runs, though, it's a bit clunky and awkward with what it wants to do.
But this precon/set has given the actual mechanics of it some real gas. I'm brewing it now as a mono-green combo deck with lots of hidden combat tricks. I'm super excited about it!
One concern I have about the precon upgrades suggestion would be frankly how much mana you'll have vs how much you'll use. It looks like you'll be drowning in mana quickly with this deck, and having good means to spend it will be huge. I'd probably recommend one of the myriad of creatures that you can pump mana into to turn a land into a creature, just as an additional jumpscare on board.
Lots of big creatures fits here but albo in Death tool precon. They can Exchange a lot of cards

With the Citanul Heirophants I was tapping scutes. But anyway what's the opinion on things like Crucible of Worlds? Is it not in this list for budget reasons? Or even things like Azusa, Lost but Seeking.

I think Kianne is actually awesome in the 99 but I don't like her in the command zone, so I agree as an alternative commander she's not great. The deck draws a non-zero amount of cards and she can very quickly become a very large creature, while also allowing you to cast land ramp spells instant speed.

See this is where I'm confused. Zimona says you can flip the face down card at any time if its a creature. But if it's say an enchantment can it not be flipped? Can it only stay as a face down 2/2 creature?
Zimone says you can turn a permanent you control face up on her 2nd landfall trigger. It doesn't specify creatures here so applies to any permanent (not instants, as they mention here in the video). This is a great way to get big, expensive permanents into play (enchantments, creatures etc).
The "turn it face up any time for it's mana cost if it's a creature card" is a part of the Manifest Dread mechanic. You can do this with or without Zimone on the battlefield. So either you get a 2nd landfall trigger and turn it up for free (as above), or you just pay the creature's mana cost and turn it up anyway.
The "Jump Scare" theme is because you can do this "at any time", so you declare attackers, maybe your opponent declares no blockers, then in response you flip the card up from a 2/2 to a big scary creature that is now not being blocked. They thought they would be taking 2 damage, but instead they're taking a much bigger hit!

How good is this deck actually, some people are saying Wizards needs to just give up on the face down mechanics.
Nobody ever really like face down mechanics. When morph first came out it was disliked, they redid it in tarkir it was disliked. It’s a formula they keep trying (and failing) to make fun and interesting tbh
@Lazydino59 yeah I built a Kadena deck and don't really enjoy it all that much tbh lol. This deck looks more fun, but I'm cautiously optimistic. Death Toll, the grave yard deck, looks kinda fun to me...both commanders look fun
I mean all you have to do is watch RUclips gameplay. This deck more often then not is the threat. The rakdos deck is the only other one that offers competition I've seen in gameplay.

I am a newer player (2yrs) and I'm tired of hearing how these decisions are done to make things better or more accessible for me.
I only own one of these cards, Jeweled Lotus, which I pulled from a pack so this is not about money to me personally.
This is the opposite of what players need! If anything, these bans should be for CEDH and have a separate ban list! Even then, you hit dockside but not Thassa's Oracle?? That is the RC equivalent of kingmaking...
I know the RC is more than you two, and Olivia, etc. That said, where is the voice of the people in this?? If you want to officiate for CEDH, then make a list for them. There is no point to this and it has only inflamed the community across all forums.

Turn 1 Jeweled lotus, land, 4 cmc commander is a BAD PLAY. That gets your commander killed right away. If people aren't running removal, that is on them.
This feels so out of touch.. just like anything.. people that like something say nothing, and people that don't complain loudly. The voices calling for these to have been banned... may be loud, but that is all. That does not mean they meaningfully represent the playerbase.
Respectfully... split cedh and commander, or get your opinions (the whole RC) out of commander altogether. A decision like this further days we do not need you (RC) and that buying new commander product is a good way to get burned.
Multiple sets in the last year were sold and valued based on these chase cards (crypt and lotus) in special arts.. yet we just spit on the players by banning them now?

Absolutely. The commander just flips cards over, doesn't care if it's plotted, manifested, morphed or irixidon'ed - and if you run enough blink and bounce you can always pull the commander back.
I have a kadena deck. Ixidron is an awkward card. I'd never take it out because it's too damn funny, but it takes a special scenario to work. My deck is a jank mess of morph and ninjutsu, so I have non morphable cards, but the main drawback is kadena. She can't flip herself up. So even if all my other creatures can, she can't. I have a fair amount of flicker in the deck to get back my ninjas, but if I can't, that ixidron just sits in my hand until the board permits it.
Zimone is such bait as a place to put all your otherwise-unusable battlecruiser cards, since there's so many engines to play and flip them you can get away with 5-6 before they screw up the deck's curve as dead draws.

Just sold off all my EDH staples, and committed to proxying all my EDH decks. Not going to handover my money to WotC just to buy cards that will be banned arbitrarily, all in the name of subjective fun and inclusiveness.
