Uber Driver Fatally Shot by Alleged 81-Year-Old Scam Victim

- Terrifying video shows an elderly man pointing a gun at an Uber driver before fatally shooting her. William Brock tells 911 that he shot the Uber driver because he had just been threatened on the phone by a total stranger and thought the driver and caller were working together. Brock said that the scammer ordered Brock to pay $12,000 or else. Cops say at the same time Loletha Hall, unaware of the circumstances, was instructed through the Uber app to pick up a package from Brock's home. Brock was charged with murder and has pleaded not guilty. Inside Edition’s Les Trent has more.

Walking away backwards
The lunatic with the gun is no victim.
They were both victims of a scam, but one is a victim of a murder and the other is a murderer.
Hes no victim! Im glad its a murder charge! She was telling him and begging why she was there and he ignorantly believed what she, an older limping black woman, was there to kill him 😢
The old man should not be allowed to have a gun and non of this would've happened. He should've called police if he felt threatened.
So tragic and senseless. Poor woman, may she rest in eternal peace now and sorry she had to go through this. Wishing blessings upon her family.
@@andromedamessier3176 the woman is NOT alive
@@mumenrider9098 ok I googled because inside edition left it very vague. She is gone. Rest in peace. This is tragic all around.
Wow, they did a terrible job explaining this.
The 81-year-old was told to drop off the ransom money to the Uber driver, who had no idea what she was supposed to be picking up.
I think they made it pretty clear
Was very clear to me but i see other comments not understanding
@@RideRedRacer uh they’re just saying he was not the victim
He litteraly Excecuted her
@@jessiec2220 i think they made it clear to
Did Inside Edition just call the murderer a victim??
Senile old dude with a gun is not a "victim."
Do you really need to loop the images of the poor woman asking for help in her last moments alive? So disrespectful to the family.
I think it’s important, it helps us see who the victim really is. Imagine how frustrated the family must feel to hear the shooter is being called a victim.
It's disrespectful to the murderer and his family maybe but Thankful they have coverage that shows his complete guilt without any doubt!
😂
Shouldn’t you be fighting for Ukraine?
It's crazy how the media tries to create equal sympathy when there isn't one! Sorry. Loletha Hall's life mattered.
Exactly. They only do this so the old man can not go to jail. Let's look into the old man background like they do other people. Look into his family too.
I know we can't be 100% sure of this, but I really don't think he would have killed her if she was a white woman... Rest in Power ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽
@@Banshee_Hauntyou’re absolutely right, and he did it TWICE despite her being scared and unarmed
She was picking up the "package", she is part of the scam. Uber doesn't pick up random packages, since they could contain dangerous or illegal items....
@@Banshee_HauntGive me a break 🙄 You're trying to make this about race for some reason but you know it's not.
Change the title of this video! It gives the impression that this lady was the scammer. 🙄
Why is no one talking about the scammer?
Cause the scammer is a separate matter, the police can try and track them down.
But here, we literally have video footage of a murder
So my mind is kinda focused on the execution
She was walking away so...how was he threatened in that moment? Sad.
The US govt needs to take the scamming epidemic WAY more seriously. And if that means cracking down and sanctioning countries that enable overseas scammers to function with little risk …like India, Nigeria and Jamaica …then so be it. This is not a small problem, it has become a HUGE problem. And it’s past time that folks in Washington DC start treating it as such.
Michael 6542, This set-up prank is "swatting" Uber drivers by simple homeowner sapiens.
No way in hell. You want other people to suffer from sanctions because of scammers? That's insane.
He shouldn't even have a gun. He doesn't know reality well enough
He's no victim! He could've called 911 or just scared her off at most.
The way this story is presented is absolutely shameful and insane. I work with aging populations many of them have been scammed, some have lost nearly everything from these scams or from family members exploiting them… never once did they get a revolver and gun down an unarmed person begging for help. Shame on you
Yeah they never did that because no one was showing up to their house. In the context of the story the scammer was currently on the phone threatening the life of the man and his family for ransom money which this woman was unknowingly sent to pick up. So she knocked on his door and this is the result of that. I'm not saying what he did is right but comparing it to the typical scam cases you hear about it is a different situation (no one threatening your life as someone knocks on your door in person).
@Conquered you need help defending this cold blooded murderer
@@Conquered only an idiot would risk getting their "kidnapped" relatives unalived by getting into a shootout with potential extortionists outside their home 🤦🏾🤡
@@shelzblack488I’m actually shocked that they really sat there and tried to justify his actions smh
So, even if the phone call about family being held hostage happened they way described it and his is not lying, what did he think was going to happen if he killed the courier coming to pick up the ransom?
Why would kidnappers think he would have any significant amount of cash on hand on such short notice to pay a ransom or were they planning to take a personal check? This is dumb.
Did he think the imagined kidnappers would just release the kidnapped family members and everything would just be solved if the courier never brought the ransom?
Scam or not. He should be charged with murder. She was defensless, she didn't carry a gun. Therefore, its a capital offense.
He is a psycho and needs to be in jail.
Seeing people hurting and terrified breaks my heart. Older lady trying to pay her bills murdered. Last second alive spent begging. So sorry for her and her family.
I wonder if the man was black and the woman was white. I wonder how people would react.
Why would you wonder that?
@@BiggieTrismegistusthey want to make everything a race war
I would feel the same way. There was no need for him to kill the lady when he wouldn't even let her explain.😢
There’d probably be a whole lot more racist comments
@@priscilavakautawell I've seen enough racist comments saying that the old man was racially motivated when he clearly wasn't
Clearly murderer.. she was backing away and calling for helped
He was scammed, but that doesn’t justify shooting an unarmed woman. He belongs in jail. Of course the sad part is that the scammers will likely get away with their part of it.
The old guy should had called the police instead of taking justice into his own hands .
She lost her life for nothing
At least she cant go pick up ransoms anymore
Well, she lost her life for being hired to pick up an extortion payment. It sucks, but she was a part of a violent crime organization that she was unaware of. The mob told this dude he better pay up, or his family is getting offed, then hired this girl to pick up the payment.
@@Guenwhyever, she was an elderly woman who was murdered, not a girl. Show some respect!!!
