Now that's what I call a good review. No nonsense or messing about. Bravo.
Thanks Barry. 👍
Best Christmas present I ever had. When I'm not Buying Kegs from Beerhawk, I'm enjoying their incredible Belgian Trappist bottled beers.
Hi, Great tutorial, clear & concise with easy to watch demonstration, thank you.
Brilliant system, had mine 2 years and still enjoy it especially in these troubled times.
They're fantastic, especially at this time. When you consider the problems sub owners are having, I think people are very harsh on Beerhawk. They've always had a selection of kegs available. Thanks for your comment and subscribing
the beer at the end looks so delicious, thanks for this video!
Good video mate. I ordered one on Friday afternoon and got it delivered on Saturday. Great piece of kit, delighted with it.

I bought 1 of these machines after seeing this video in April best buy ever
Mrs bought me one for Christmas and had my first pint tonight once it reached 3 degrees, outstanding stuff.
Glad you like it.
Thanks for the walkthrough Neil. Sold me on it.
Thanks, don't blame me for any subsequent weight gain 😉
Hi Andy, yes it's worth it as long as you realise you'll most probably put on weight! Kegs can be swapped in and out as well. Beerhawk have a huge range of kegs too.
Where do you buy the different beer kregs can you make your own
Just bought myself a machine so thus review was very helpful. Thank you
Great Review, thanks Neil. 👍👍
I ordered my leffe blonde starter bundle and 2 becks kegs yesterday ,after watching your review I can’t wait for my delivery 🍺🍺🍺
Excellent, I'm glad you're looking forward to it. If you're not already a member, head over to Perfectdraftkegtips on Facebook
I want one but can't justify the price right now. I have a "the sub" machine I managed to pick up the hieneken version for £69. The only down side is the torps only hold 2 litres.
Great straight forward video Neil.... kids bought me mine for my birthday.. love the craft ales, not something I had really tried before..just need to be a bit vigilant with regards the strength.. had a couple of naughty afternoons with them in the garden 😂
Thanks for the kind comments. Mine was a birthday present too several years ago.
Great review .. straight to the point no messing about .👍🏼🍻
Thanks big yin. Just set mine up using your video. Well put together and great to see a Scottish person flying the flag.
Thanks for your kind comments, they're appreciated. Hope you enjoy the PD machine. Slainte 😉
Nice review pal very helpful
Cheers pal. Very good video. I have borrowed my mates for the football tonight. Very well explained. We are ready to rock & roll🍻
Glad to hear it. I'm sure you'll be looking to buy one after tonight.

great video pal ,ive just bought a PD machine for xmas from beerhawk on black fri sale, also a good deal on kegs atm, 3 for price of 2 so got spaten, lowenbrau + jupiler kegs.....cant wait to try it out.

Glad you're enjoying it. ,👍
@@nmealey don’t think I could live without it now mate tbh 🤣👍🏻
@@marcmcbride6607 the next game changer is when you get your second machine. One for everyday bee, one for the every now and again beer.

Thanks mate. Dead easy to follow 👍
Great review. I just received my machine and put on the tap unit with tube and beer went everywhere. Tapping unit was firm and heard two clicks but as soon as the tube clicks in, beer sprays
Try this... On the top of the keg press the black button with an X on it. That'll release any pressure in the keg.
Put the grey tube into the tap unit
Put the tap unit on to the keg. Make sure it's seated correctly and firmly on. Then put in the machine.
Yep great review...all you need to know..spot on...
Great video! Looks like I’ll be ordering one 👍🏽
Thanks for your kind comments. You'll not be disappointed.
Well done mate made it a gem to load and work thank's
Good video mate! Cheers
Excellent presentation. I think I’ll get one of these bad boys
Thanks. Glad it helped you to decide. 👍
Perfect review thanks mate
Yes, you can. Just keeps note of how many days remaining, try suggest 30 days from first use but I've had some way beyond that. Also it's handy to keep it in the fridge but there's no actual need
Great video dude... I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these. I saw in another comment you said this is head and shoulders above the sub. I've had my sub for over a year now and still use it constantly. Absolutely love my sub, my fav gadget! Prob cus Heineken is my fav beer. What I like about the looks of this is that the kegs are much larger and there's more a variety. Think I'll get one of these and keep the sub too... Heineken on tap then I'll rotate this with other beers like Stella, Bud and Corona! If it's anything like the sub the quality of the beer is 100x better than that from cans and bottles! :) Hope to pick this up soon! :)
Thanks for you positive comments. Please remember to subscribe
I've had one for 3 years.. stella is 10x better than bottle and even your local pub as it's the Belgian brewed stella not uk
Good review. Buying one of these once stocks replenish. Buzzing!

You are professional, cheers!
Great video! Thanks!
Thanks for the lesson there my friend I could do with one of them
Great review
Great video mate 👍
Thanks, it means a lot that you'd take the time to comment.
Great video cheers
Great review, thanks. Picking up a 2nd hand model soon, anything I should look out for?
Make sure you see it loaded with a keg. Or load a keg whilst there. The tap unit needs to be pushed down quite hard but when it's fitted the keg should pressurise and the display should be normal. ie. Temp at top numbers at bottom and the bars in the middle.
New ones are £199 now. A repair from Phillips is £50 if out of warranty. Take that into consideration. Also the latest model has a small Square drip tray, the older one has more of a Y shaped drip tray. If it's an oval machine with a more oval drip tray, that's the original and is very old, and hard to get spares for.
If you're unsure which, message me a picture or send me the advert. Good luck, don't spend a fortune when new is £50 more expensive and comes with a 2 year warranty
thanks for the great review
Glad you enjoyed it.
Mate, you're a legend cheers 🍻
Thanks for your comments. Enjoy your perfect draft experience.
I'm thinking about buying one of these. Can you swap kegs while they are not empty or do you have to finish a keg before putting another on?
The best toy for Man on Christmas.
Just ordered 🍻🍻
Cheers for the video ? Is there anything on keg to indocate its cold enough to pour ?
Just the temp. Gauge. If it's 6 or above its generally too warm especially lager which will be really frothy if too warm
Where’s the best place I should keep the tap unit when I don’t have a keg any? I’m new to this
Obrigada pela ajuda achei que minha maquina depois de 7 anos sem usar havia quebrado,Thank u
Nice video thanks. Ive ordered my PD tonight from beer hawk !!!!

Thanks Mr Beer Hooligan. I'm glad you've taken the time to watch my review. Its not as easy as people think is it, talking into the camera #muchrespect. I don't know as much as you about beer, in fact i don't know anything about beer, just what I like, but I don't profess to know anything about the beer, just the machine. @@robbryden4982 if you take the Facebook group 15% discount in to consideration, £5 store credit per empty keg returned and 5% store credit on purchases, it works out about £1.90 a pint.
@@nmealey hi Neil how do you get 15 percent for been on Facebook page the kegs iv looked at are 30 quid so I thought it was quite expensive also if you take 5 quid off its still 25 quid I like the idea just I think it's abit pricing for a pint. I like the look of the blade but there's not much variety.
Great vid - the reason I got one! 👍
Thanks for your kind comments. I appreciate it. I'm glad you decided to buy and hope you're still enjoying it.
@@nmealey Enjoying it as we speak!
Great Review.
Thanks very much. Hopefully it was helpful
Where do you buy the different beer kregs can you make your own ?
Appreciate the video. One question; can I change from one keg to another and switch back to the first?
Yes, kegs are good for 30 days (and beyond from personal experience) from date of opening. Just write how many days are remaining when you take it out. Pop the new keg in and then swap back when you want. Changevthe days remaining on the display with the little +- buttons and that's you sorted.
Also, pour the first tiny bit into a second glass to avoid it going frothy as the beer meets air in the tube, not your pint each time a keg is changed.
@@MagnapinnaArchive we swapped out a keg of leffe ruby and it still tastes ok after 3 months. Maybe just not quite as gassy.
@@MagnapinnaArchive the ten pints don't usually last longer in my machine that 2 weeks though, I think they evaporate 🤔😉
Thanks!
You're welcome,
Can you swap kegs say half way thru a larger one then put a cider one in or do u have to drink whole keg 1st cheers good review
Yes you can. Best practice is to put the used one in the fridge bit it's not essential. The keg should still be finished within 30 days, but it's usually not a problem if it's a few days over.
I have a Krupps SUB and fancy one of these too. Looking at the new Pro, but they seem to use 3 times as much electricity and at current rates cost £10 to run for the 30 days the beer is fresh. So maybe get one of these older ones instead to keep costs down.
The old ones do the same job. 👍
Just bought one of these and when I set it all up do I need to wait till next day to pour a pint as it’s foam that’s coming out my keg
You'll need to wait until the keg is less than 6 degrees or it's very bubbly. Pull the handle straight down fully too as that makes a difference
When you change the keg back to the original keg or starting keg. Does it recognise that and reset at whatever days were left in your first keg? Also, can you fill the emptiness with homebrew?
Empty kegs I meant...not emptiness 😉
Hi, thanks for your comments. The machine does not recognise individual kegs. If you take a keg out, use a marker or sticker and write it's 30 day remaining on it. They're ok for a while after too 😉
There is a way, it's not easy though
Hi Neil, do you think it would be okay plugging the PD machine into an extension lead for the garden ? for the summer months of course
I don't see why not. As long as it's a decent quality lead, just make sure it's not wound or wrapped up. The power draw isn't massive.
Ok say if someone preferred a darker ale could I interchange kegs and would the machine
• register the quantity left off each keg??
• know how many days left??
does it automatically go back to 30 everytime the door is open??
You can change kegs if you like, good practice is to write how long the keg has left on the keg so you can adjust the date manually to suit when it goes back in and Keep in the fridge, although not necessary. Keep the machine on when you change kegs and it'll reset back to 30.
Thanks, very useful. Would you say it's more superior to the sub?
I've got a sub too and its head and shoulders above. My sub has been off for months
I’ve got the sub and I’ve been looking at this for a while, it’s just more expensive than the sub that’s what’s stopped me getting one.
@@Neil1977have a look on marketplace and eBay. You may get a bargain. Phillips repair for a set £44. That's a nice safeguard.
Kegs are cheaper than Toros after the beertokens for buying and returning kegs gets taken into consideration. Always make sure you buy via topcashback.co.uk for a couple of quid back. Buy kegs in 4s to get 20% off or look at Beerhawk short date kegs - £20 a keg and they're good for months after the BBE date. I've drank kegs 6 or 7 months after. Oh and there's less waste in a 100% recyclable keg than 3 X Torps.
Take in to consideration the quality of the pour, you'll not look back. My sub has been switched off since before beerwolf took over! Cheers!
Neil Mealey thanks for the info, I’ll have a look see what I can find👍🏼

Well a 5l mini keg fit on this? I use them to store my home brews and was wondering if both the 5l and 6l would fit
Hi, no it needs to be a specific 6l perfect draft keg. There are people who clean out the bag (that's inside the keg) and refill with home brew though.
Hi I got my machine today, when trying to attach the tap to the keg it keeps spraying beer everywhere. I then tried pressing down on the cross on the keg this took some pressure out but it just seemed as though beer was leaking. Any tips?
Put the disposable grey tube in. Get the tap located by turning it slightly each way, then just push down firmly on each side of the tap. It's easier done with the keg on the floor. You can press the cross button even more if you like it doesn't effect the beer
Cracking video and review mate, i won this machine in a raffle yesterday (delighted) and was wondering if you know if there is any cider kegs compatible
At the moment there's none. I believe that in the near future beerhawk will be bringing one out.
@@nmealey thanks for the reply, i actually asked on behalf of the wife who likes a cider, i love my beer and whisky, i was talking about buying the perfectdraft last month and then boom won it in a raffle, I'm delighted and going to get it up and running at the weekend, thanks for the reply mate
@@johnmckenzie7117 no problems. Enjoy
Hi Andy,
I have just bought one and started with it yesterday. I had a Stella yesterday and I noticed every pint i pulled (we finished the keg) had quite a lot of froth on top and i felt that we wasted quite a lot. IS there any tips you can recommend to stop the frothing - is it due to poor pouring or the machine?
Thanks,
Dan
Or the actual movement of the keg (shaking the keg etc)?
First of all don't be impatient. Pouring when the beer is warm will cause froth. I always pour the very first tiny bit of a new keg in another glass. This allows it to expand in the tube when it meets the air. Any subsequent pour is just poured normally. You can pour that first bit back in the drinking glass too.
Be positive... Pull the levee toward you fully in one quick movement. Pulling a little bit or slowly will create froth. When beer meets froth, it makes more froth, and so on.
Hold the glass at 45 Deg. For as long as you can then reduce as needed to full the pint. Have the beer hitting the side of the glass.
Let me know how you get on. Pop over to www.perfectdraftkegtips.co.uk too
@@nmealey Thanks Neil! I will take that knowledge and use it. I think the movement of the keg as i moved it from basement to upstairs (already refrigerated) and not quite at 3 degrees maybe an issue.
I see what you mean about the lever as well! I maybe of been too cautious- as you can tell, ive never worked in a bar, but certainly drank enough :)
Thanks Neil!
@@danielnaimi4262 let me know how you get on.
I Just got mine today. Is cooling at the mo and at 7°c is it ok to turn the machine off when no in use or will the temperature shoot back up to 19°c
I'd leave it switched on with a keg in. It'll probably use less energy. A bit like a fridge,
After installing a new keg is there a waiting time until it’s good to go?
If you pre chill the keg then generally no. If don't pre chill it can take a few hours to chill that keg to drinking temperature.
Is there a way of adjusting the temperature? Maybe to 5-6 degrees? Nice vid 👍
Not with the current model, I expect there may be improvements on this in subsequent models though
What is the + and - buttons for?
I've just bought one of these and the noise of the oressure pump doesn't kick in until I'm nearly a quarter full of the pint glass. Is this normal? Thanks
Yeah, that's fine. The beer is in a bag. The air squeezes the back. It just puts more air in as required. The air doesn't touch the beer itself.
You had more head on that pint than I have all year.....
Warm keg just loaded for the video 😉.
It's German beer, it's supposed to be like that. For some reason we (the UK) seem to be one of the only countries in Europe that serve with a minimum head. If you went to Germany, this is exactly how they'd serve you their beer.
Iv picked one of these up from a boot sale .... the chap said it woks but the keg was empty ..... it lights up but just watched the the video and noticed that when you pulled the tap down it made a noise, does it still do that when the keg is empty ? As there's no noise coming from mine .... any information would be appreciated .....
The noise is just it pressurising. Get a keg and give it a try. Also look at my video on what's inside a keg and how it works. You'll understand the noise then.
That noise when you pour the pint at the end ? Is that normal. I have just got one of these and it makes that noise every minuite or so. Im not sure if its faulty.
Thanks
If you're a new user, I'd guess the tap isn't clicked in correctly. Take the keg and tap out the machine and push both sides of the tap down, you're it'll probably click in then.
Fed up cleaning widget glasses and trying to keep lager lively from a can, will pd lager gas last as long as pub draft pint ?
I'd say so. A nice really clean glass helps. The nucleating ones are best.
@@nmealey clean nucleating glasses are what I always use, but pd would only be worthwhile for me if it keeps carbonation longer than I can
@@stuartmckitting8881 I'd say it's 100 % a better drink than a can.
I have had this for a few weeks now and dont quite know what the buttons do just under the numbers, do you have any idea
That's to change the days remaining counter. If you swap kegs you can manually adjust the days left 😉
Once you put a new keg in do you have to let it go cold before you pull it or can you use it straight away?
Hi, it's best to pre chill them, or let them cool down. If you pour at 6 Deg. or above it'll be very frothy. Some people put in freezer for 2 hrs, others in a garage or cold room. Some people have a beer fridge 😉
@@nmealey thanks for that Neil
I'm quite happy with that (gets a mouthful of froth) :D
Brand new keg, not down to temp, not purged.... Yeah happy with it 😉
Hi I got one of these today followed your video but my machine buzzes for about 5 seconds every 2-3 minutes can you tell me what I’ve done wrong
I think we sorted it out on Facebook?
Do you know how to reset 30 day timer. Mines not worked since first keg was changed . ?
Hi Stephen, thanks for watching. Next time replace the keg with the power switched on. It'll reset itself that way.
For now, use the +- buttons to get it back to where it should be. If you open the machine up, remove the keg and replace it after a few seconds it'll go back to 30 .
Have now used 3 different kegs on my unit however at no point do I get the 2 or 3 clicks when connecting the tap to the keg..Is this normal as it seems to working just fine.Great pints btw
If it's a brand new machine it may not make it. The click is the blue tabs locating into the keg. If it's working fine, there's not an issue.
@@nmealey OK thanks. Yes it's brand new
Got my perfect draft yesterday n bought spaten n its brill but my pints are always frothy so how do a sort it?
Loads of things you can do. Pull the handle quickly, all the way towards you. If you do it slowly, it'll need a flake in it. Tilt the glass and hold the spout against the tilted glass. That should help you out
Is there an equivalent coupler for a different system that will connect to these kegs, or are they specific for the Philips machine only?
Specifically for the same system
@@nmealey Cheers
Can you turn if at mains and leave keg in untill ready to use again or best to leave on constantly ?
I've always treated mine like a fridge. Saves energy as it stays down to temperature and keeps it there. Turning it off and on would use more I expect.
@@nmealey cheers just orders the latest model , above rrp but sod the waiting list 😂😎👍

Neil Mealey haha I know what you mean about the way we sound to ourselves, will check out the FB site mate, cheers
Hey man.
Heard a few reports that the kegs go flat after around a week etc can you give me your opinion mate.
Cheers from Falkirk
@@johnnimmo6518 Hi John, the beer is within a bag in the keg so never comes in to contact with the air. there is no air gap either, so nowhere for the gas to go to and get flat.
You'll not get a flat drink. the biggest issues are with rinse aid from dishwashers sometimes stopping a head forming, or a bad pouring technique. You'll not be disappointed.
@@nmealey awesome mate thanks alot!!!
Hello. Do you keep this plugged into the mains at all times? Would the keg be ok if it was unplugged at times? Thank you
Yes, treat it like a fridge. You could unplug it but it will then have to chill down again. Before you have a beer.
@@nmealey thanks. Great vid
Hello. Does it need an electrical supply at all times? For example I couldn't take it a BBQ at a park? Thank you in advance.
Yes it does, the kegs get pressurised from the pump in the machine. If you are looking to purchase a PerfectDraft machine / kegs and get 10% off from Beerhawk here is a referral code link:
t.co/5VQW2rkxBC?amp=1
Hi. What charges the keg? Where’s the Co2, does that need to be changed?
Hi, there's no co2 needed. The beer is in a foil bag, in the keg. The machine pumps a little bit of air in the gap between the keg and and the bag, just enough to squeeze the bag. This squeezing pushes the beer out of the bag, via the grey tube. The first time the beer meets the air is when it comes out of the tap. I hope that makes sense. There's no constables apart from the beer.
How cold does the beer get , i like a nice cold crisp pint , does this make the beer cold
3 degrees.
Recently received PD machine as gift, which I love. On third keg change I noticed keg had some what frozen in machine. Is this sign of problems to come???
Nope. It's fine. Humidity in the air settles on the keg as condensation. That drips down and freezes. It'll be fine.
You could put de-icer in it or turn it off for 10 minutes it'll thaw and you can wipe the moisture off the plate.
Great thanks for setting my mind at ease 👍🍻
Just bought one and it arrived today. Can anyone tell me why the temp and freshness displays when I switch it on for about 1 min then disappears and doesn’t come back? It’s not been on the full 12-15 hours for chilling yet. Could this be the issue? I am new please be nice...
Is there a keg in it. If yes the machine is faulty. If no, put a keg in.
How long for optimal temp mate ? Just stuck mine in but gagging for a pint 😅
Depends on the ambient temperature in the room and if the machine or keg has been pre cooled. About 1 Deg an hour maybe more
What is the plus and minus sigh for?
You can change the days remaining count down. So if you take a keg out, put it in the fridge for a week whilst you use a different keg, you can put the original one back in and update the days remaining.
