You can't adjust the temperature on the PD, those buttons adjust the days left in the kegs life in case you remove it. Beers are chilled to 3c, the temperature goes green at 4c when it's ready to pull. I have one and have been delighted with it.
Agree, I thought the selection of beers, 6L kegs and, the price and the return system for the kegs was the factors for the choice for me. Very satisfied here as well, hope they can expand the selection of beers though!
I always turn the Sub compact on in the morning of day I want to use it, torps in fridge, green light already waiting, usually only takes 5 or so mins for the sub to recognise a cold torp and away we go, great review of the 3 machines mate👍🏻
My Dad has been going on and on about wanting a beer machine for a while now and I was hesitant on which one to get. This video has been great to help me decide on a Christmas present so thank you so much. Loved the fact you went through the loading times and the pour quality. Seen a few videos where the mention the first pour is lively but they never follow up with a second to see if its worth it so really appreciated your attention to detail. Thanks again :)
The bottom LED indicator on the perfect draft is to set the freshness of the keg. Starts at 30 days when you put a new one in, however, the machine does let you change this.
Great video much appreciated. Just to let you know the manual for the Krups Sub suggests turning it on at least an hour before you put your first torpe in. You should then find that your light goes from red to green within 20 minutes. Mine certainly does. Enjoy! 🍻
Hey man. See if you load the krubbs whilst machine is off. Close door then switch it on. It won't take that long for light to go green. But because you had the machine already on thats why it took longer. No idea why just what I've found with them. Love the vids and your channel m8.
I've got the sub classic Heineken Edition. It's all metal on the outside and it goes green in under 15 Minutes with pre-cooled Torps. The Sub Classic is deninately worth the slight price increase compared to the Sub Compact. Nice review, thanks!
I bought a sub in Nov last year. Beerwulf had an excellent selection and the price of a Heineken was £6.65 a torp. Since march this year availability has been bad, getting better but the price is now £8.49 for a torp. This means it was £1.86 a pint now £2.41. Quality of beer is better than bottles from the supermarket. The sub has its place, cheap no frills. Let's hope distribution/supply chain improves.
Glad someone has done the comparison, think I'd edge towards the perfect draft. The lack of variety on the blade puts me off. Probably should of used similar beers to show pour quality.
My thoughts. . . You made my mind up for me with this great informative video and I ordered the Philips Perfectdraft from Beer Hawk plus four kegs. Cheers🍻
One other bonus for the Perfect Draft is that you can change kegs mid drink. You do need to store the Keg upright in the fridge and note how many days left from when it was 1st opened. Great video though , bar the boo boo about temperature on the PD, Video 'Like' applied. If you are a Beerhawk member you should stick your referral link in the description as well. 10% off the machine for new people who buy a machine and you get double beer tokens up to end of August
I know this video is a couple of years old, but just in case it helps anyone. The Philips PerfectDraft cannot adjust the temperature. The number at the bottom is the number of days left on the keg. It is 30 days when you put in a new keg, but can be manually adjusted down. There is a PerfectDraft Pro now available that DOES allow for temperature control. 2 years down the line the blade still has limited keg options compared to the PD, but it does have Birra Moretti and Amstel. I have both and enjoy both for different reasons. Hoping Beavertown comes to the blade now it has been purchased by Heineken.
Great Video. Got a PD for christmas and love it. beers are a little more expendsive than can's or bottles but the quality of a draft beer is sooo much better. also we've been in a pub lockdown in Glasgow since mid October so getting a nice draft beer is a thing of beauty.

That's one of fun things about going to a good alehouse with multiple taps. Seeing all the colorful tap handles with all the different designs and logos. The Perfect Draft chills at about 1c per hour. Serving temperature is preset to 3c. Krups is great for swapping beers regularly, but the 1/2 pint of Ice Cream at the start and end of each torp is a pain. The PD full guage is random when you get down to the last litre.
Looking at picking up a PerfectDraft now that prices have come down a little bit after the epidemic has buggered off (these things shot up in price!). Great review mate, top quality to know I'm not buying a lemon.
Had the hertog Jan keg in for last few days in perfect draught bloody lovely drop. Sold my sub compact due to cost of torps as I thought it was quite expensive. Got the Apfel Räuber from beerwulf in the blade goes well in this hot weather here in Snowdonia .
@@liamvibes24 You might be able to get one on ebay, it is very good, but there are alot of but's, the Guinness is draft, but the special tins are no longer available in Supermarkets, so you can only get them online, they where always more expensive, but are now even more expensive and harder to get a hold of, once you get some tins of Special Surger Guinness, you need to chill them for 24hours, but to be honest i've found that's not long enough, it usually takes several days for the Guinness to really settle back down after transport and i also found that my Fridge tends to chill the Guinness too much, so i put them in my Drinks fridge which is about 10c and leaves more of the taste, then when you have done all that you need a pristine, really pristine glass, be careful with the pour to not stimulate it or at least as little as possible when pouring, press the surger button and finally you would have a nice pint of Guinness - so it works and produces the best pint of Guinness you can have at home, but with not a lot of convenience , it would be easier to go to the Pub.., well if they where open this year ! :)
Great review! I remember seeing the Blade a couple of years ago and it looked like a great system. The main concern is that the Blade has been around for a couple of years but there are only around 10 beers to choose from. Will this system survive in the long term with only a few beer producers supporting this system? The torp systems has a great range of beers but they are just too expensive. I don't mind paying a bit of a premium for experience of draft beer but £8.49 for 2 litres of Heinekin! The Phillips system on the other hand has over 40 beers available and a £5 back for every container you return for recycling. I think I will wait a while and see if more beers come on board for the Blade.
Thank you for reviewing these 3. I have a Nostalgia HomeCraft 5L mini keg dispenser, and I love it. Being in the US though, means I have to look harder for kegs. Typically German deli's keep a good assortment, and I've found a site that will ship to the US (sub-torp). I like the idea of the sub-torp for just myself, blow through a 2L in 2 weeks or less easy. I love the look of the Blade, but think I'll wait for more selection to come available. With that said, and because of your review, I think I'll be on the lookout for a Philips PerfectDraft. Thanks again!!
Good review, I’ve got the Krups and the PD, storage of the Torps is easier as smaller and you can stack the fridge. Also, you try a new beer a bit cheaper at a low cost and only need to drink 3.5 pints before you can reload. Good review, 👍
I have a PD machine.perfect beer every time and service from beer hawk is second to none. My only draw back is ,it says the beer last for 30 days but never does 😀😀🍺🍺🍺🍺

I've counted around 20/22 beers/ciders I've found for the Blade system, so the variety isn't as bad as you'd think, its getting them!
I have the sub compact and the perfect draught and both are great machines I couldn’t justify the price to buy a blade due to the limited amount of beer available it’s more of an industrial machine for a cafe/small pub!! The perfect draught hasn’t got a button to adjust the temperature you just changed the 30 day freshness button to 7 days!!

Yer the buttons are for days reset not temperature so don't buy one thinking you can adjust temp. Also the krups classic is an upgraded sub and has full 360 degree cooling and not just the bottom as on the sub compact, so it does chill in about 30mins from the fridge. It loads in from the front through a flap door.
Totally agree I have krupps & Perfect draft work well I conjunction together giving me choice of beer @ the same price as 1 blade ,I’d like to see supermarkets (like France& cheaper)stock them as they are getting more popular due to COVID
An excellent review. I have mainly seen the blade positioned behind the bar in pubs and usually serving low or non alcoholic beer. The Krups torps don't really hold enough and only last about a day and a half with me.
Great review Simon, really helpful, however, I really must stop watching your great vids as I have now purchased the pint 365 after seeing your face after opening and then the Blade as I am a big Birra drinker thankfully so is the real boss❤️, great honest work and reviews keep it up stay safe take care😄👍👍👍🍺
Good video. Will admit I’m not a fan of Philips. I’ve had many of their stuff ranging from tvs, stereos and irons and feel the build quality is so poor and they breakdown after a year or so. Hoping your pump is a much better experience long term
I have the perfect draft and its absolutely brilliant I love it and will never get rid of it. However I am contemplating getting the krups too as I am quite partial to a strongbow dark fruits and the desperado's brilliant video though cheers
You can’t adjust the temp on the pd the numerical system is the amount of says freshness you have left (30) prob it’s only downfall is that all kegs are chilled to 3 degrees no matter what
Totally enjoyed that video, & so far the Blade does it for me, but I have to ask does any of those dispense Carlsberg draught ! & as I haven’t as yet heard how you dispose of the empty KEGS I’m assuming you bring the empty KEGS back to the off-licence you purchased it from, & in doing so I maybe get a reduction in the price of a new KEG...! Got my mouth watering here mate. Just purchased the PD so can’t wait to give it a bash. Was wanting Blade but supposedly only does 3 different kegs in the UK and for the money it’s put me off. Genuinely can’t wait to see where they go with these machines in the next 5-10 years
Hi Butt, Roy from Cardiff here. Anything changed since you made this. I got caravan in Somerset and would love to get something like this for the drunken B I drink with. Cheers Butt
Just got myself a PD.... waiting patiently for it to be delivered!..
How long until delivery?
Real Ale Craft Beer - I ordered yesterday and unfortunately it’s still at the picking phase... Thought it MAY have been despatched today, but under the circumstances, I can understand a slight delay!
@@mattyholloway8420 They had the Oktoberfest keg release on Tuesday which melted the website but still most people have had their kegs or bundles delivered by today. There is Saturday delivery so you may get an email tonight or tomorrow morning from Yedel with your delivery details. I have been impressed with the turnaround from order to delivery on BH since i got my machine a month ago
Stephen Birks - Thanks for the info Stephen, fingers crossed for delivery tomorrow!.
Any idea where I can buy this is Ireland please
Great video Simon I was waiting for a review like this 👌I currently have the exactly the same set up love the blade but the limited choice on beers at the moment is the only down fall my sub is the hieniken addition but does exactly the same job as the compact, I only got the PD this week and al be testing it tonight got 2 franziskaner and 1 hoegarden coming today so I will let you know my thoughts great video keep it up allways watch your reviews 👍👍😎
Brilliant video but can't change temp on PD that gage is for the days that's left when you change a keg midd flow 👍
Perfect length review very comprehensive top review 👍.....🍻 May well make an investment ......!! Cheers
Can you get hieniken for the philips perfect pint ??
Has to be the Phillips Draft for me. Looks way better also
Looks wise I love the blade the most. I’m not big in to the modern look of the Phillips.
Is there any difference in the perceived noise?
Sorry mate, you now have explained it in the video, thank you. Keep it up, love you videos.
Did you notice any difference between Amstel in a torp vs Amstel in a blade / other? Thx
Tbf I've got the krups compact and I does say in the hand book that you can pull one off straight away as long as the Torps are pre chilled
It’s been a year… which is your favourite now?
Simon, as much as Moretti is my favourite on the Blade I do find the kegs very temparamentle with regards to Excess foam. what's your thoughts
Does anyone know what ciders you can get for the PD
In the Perfect Draft can you use shop bought kegs or is it adapted to fit kegs only sold by the company direct? 🙂
GREAT Video Thanks!!! Do any of them do Guinness?
Love your enthusiasm
You can’t adjust the temp on the pd the numerical system is the amount of says freshness you have left (30) prob it’s only downfall is that all kegs are chilled to 3 degrees no matter what
There’s also no stouts on pd?
What if you do not drink the whole keg? can you leave it inside the machine? any leakage issue perhaps? Cheers!
Regards
