a year ago I was casting off the rocks with other people fishing and I saw someone hook a sea turtle. It was the size of a manhole cover. We all stopped and watched in shock.
@@whitestallion531 It's a pretty common occurrence in SoCal. I hooked into a seal at the Coronado islands and couldn't stop the line from peeling out. The deckhand had to jam a pair of pliers to stop the spool and to break it off. I hooked into two seals on a fishing trip in Mexico near the San Benitos islands. Both took my knife jigs and probably are harboring a knife jig lip ring somewhere. I haven't hooked into a seal here in NorCal but IMO it's partly because they aren't as aggressive as down south.

I can give ya a tip on casting. I'm a sailor and know nada about fish or fishing (but for some odd reason, I like watching your channel, I don't even eat fish...yuk), but---the casting bit. When you coil up a line (rope), making loops like you did will eventually tangle the line if you either unreal it or cast it. To prevent this, when gathering the rope in your hand, alternate the line as in, first loop from thumb to pinky, next loop, from pinky to thumb. You'll end up with 2 bunches of line, on on the index side, and one on the pinky side, but when you cast line, it will not tangle. This is something rock climbers too too...tangled line is a big no-no.
The advice at the end of the video can be life saving! Thank you very much for that. I was stuck way out there once when wind picked up and white caps appeared. I launched from Oyster point. But I could only made it back into Coyote Point. That was a super close one. There were a few points where my little boat was very close to flipping. I had to go quite slowly. The wind was mostly blowing from North. It was a good decision not going into the wind. I had to catch an Lyft to Oyster point to pick up my car. That's much better than having to swim back to shore though :)
You should check out Moslanding Ca. You'll mainly catch Rockfish, Sting Rays, sharks, and a bunch of random things. But if you go I recommend fishing of the jetty.

He finally let go and tried to reel in, but he came back and got a better hold and ripped it apart. I brought the still hooked head to the dock.
The radioactive waste wasn't dumped into the bay. It was about 50 miles west of the Golden Gate bridge. The Feds say, "the impact on the ecosystem is much less than feared" - whatever that means. You could catch all the little bluegills off a dock if you wanted and all you need is about ten feet of line and a little number 8 hook and a little piece of hotdog or a waxworm (like a mealworm, but softer, not gooey like an earthworm.) Those little fish are so easy to catch you don't really even need a fishing rod if you don't have one, and you could probably find a piece of line and a hook just laying on the ground by any popular fishinf docks.
