So if it hits and runs any vehicles with dash cameras would capture the vin so that police would be able to track it down simply by polling local traffic cameras. Or just go to the registered owner's home if it wasn't stolen. Stolen cars could also be easily tracked by every camera it passes - or passes it on a roadway lacking traffic cams.

License plates where the letters and/or numbers have been scraped off, license plates that hang at 180 degree angles, and license plates that are hidden behind something such as racks to hide the tag numbers. Those vehicles then drive aggressively through speed cameras and schools with a reckless abandon, and nothing ever seems to be done about it because unlike years ago when police used to actually patrol the roads, nowadays they just sit in parking lots waiting for a call.

Bring back vehicle seizure we had in the 90s. Vehicle gets seized and sold at out of state auction regardless of who owns it. People will continue to drive with suspended license. But once they know their property will be taken and sold… they think twice. When NYC started seizing cars permanently for drunk driving… DUIs dropped dramatically

100% supportive of the police in this one. Doing a little something something to try and avoid the very rare ticket is one thing. Still wrong but i can understand that. This crap is a different story. Prison time is a must.

I do not live in New York, but I am glad to see this kind of enforcement. Every one of these drivers who chooses to drive an unregistered and typically uninsured vehicle drives up insurance costs for the rest of us. Pay your dues. It's part of being an adult.
