    This video seemed biased towards the toyota from the get go. Having the wrx be faster on the laptime was funny to see. Here in the states the subaru is a good $10K cheaper than the toyota. That makes the decision a lot easier between the two.

    to compare these cars, you should have take the high performance GR. There you have a second diff, lighter rims. way less understear, about you are complaining. rediculous isn´t it? which set of awd did you drive? on short tracks like this, you should take sport, to press out of the corners. wondering cause mine is turning in on brake slightly

    What a fun little circuit

  • @jos2157
    @jos2157 6 месяцев назад

    The car (gr yaris) does everything well, it accelerates, brakes and turns great, the issue is that it has a lot of grip in the sensations, it seems like it is going on rails and that takes away from the fun, plus the sound of the engine amplified by the speakers sounds very artificial, as if It was an appliance, and the exhausts are as if silenced. In 2022, they took me for a ride in a pearl black one, with the circuit pack and the aerodynamic kid that cost about five thousand dollars more, we were going almost flat out and I thought it was going to leave me speechless but the truth is which was not the case, only a downshift to third and a great thrust of its engine made my head almost touch the windshield, it was what impressed me the most along with its great braking power, but based on comments I expected much more from this car . There are some journalists who think the same as me, but well I think there are two realities, the car that gives you sensations and the one that makes the best times, the Yaris is part of the latter's club. When you get in it feels too cheap and its plastics leave a lot to be desired, they look like a VW Gol Trend from before and all this makes it feel like a "vitaminized little stroller" but not of class.- If you buy it for A safe circuit is great, but if you buy it as a touring car to make a “facha”, as they say in Argentina, it is not so good because it is small, uncomfortable and uses too much gas like a Mustang, according to what I saw in a video from a private individual. from Spain that has the Yaris and compares the consumption with the Muscle Car. Although the suspension is softer than a Megane 3 Rs 265, it is still hard, and it copies every small imperfection of the asphalt in the city. In conclusion, for its price it offers a lot, but it is not the car that you say drives me crazy, neither for its design (although its nose is very rally), nor for its sound, nor for the quality of materials, what makes it precious is the intervention in its development of the quadruple WRC world champion, the Finnish Tommi Mäkinen, which ensures that this vehicle is precise and efficient when it comes to rolling on the track, on a track day, even surpassing other higher priced cars.

    Different cars for different crowds is definitely on the mark here. Yes, a Rallye would probably smoke the WRX around this track, but one is a very niche offering in an already niche market with limited use outside of fanging it around the track... the other is a 4 door that you can easily live with day to day as a primary car that put a very respectable time down.
    If you're looking at $60k for a track weapon then the Rallye fits the bill but as a daily that's a lot of compromise, I'd rather save 15k and a grab a BRZ for that sort of duty. But for my lifestyle and budget I'd be taking the WRX over the Yaris every day of the week.

      Be happy you don't have an AMG CLK 63. We had one over ten years ago and MB wanted $4,000 per front rotor. I nearly choked on my latte. They are two piece discs and can't be machined. I did some research and could have purchased a set from an AMG dealer in Los Angeles and had then couriered to Melbourne, Australia for $2,000 Australian. Shows how much MB Melbourne marked up the parts. With bills starting to add up, the car was only 4 or 5 years old, we decided to get rid of the car and bought a Lexus.

    If you bought a GR Yaris without the diffs, then you've goofed... They will be worth so much less in the future as well. Nobody wants the base GR. The Rallye or Circuit pack as it is known in the rest of the world makes all the difference. It would shave multiple seconds off that lap time.

    Always GR Yaris !!!

  • @James-RJM
    @James-RJM Год назад +4

    I thought these GR Yaris "let's just slate the standard open diff's car again" were losing momentum....🥱
    But no, another that's about as relevant as saying this A5 Wagyu steak is awful, when it's been cooked at non room temperature, not sealed properly due to incorrect initial heat, salt added prior to sealing and then overcooked!
    The recent scoobies are not even worth reviewing vs the earlier models, imo. Such a shame 😔
    Yes, if you want to drive the GR Yaris on track only or for bragging rights, get the torsens spec for the obvious benefits and turn esc off.
    But really, why even buy it for track usage, when there's countless more ready to go from the box options.
    Civic Type R, S2000, Clio 182/200, M2, etc.........
    The same is also applicable for the brilliant earlier WRX's.
    Neither are natural track cars. They're for fast B road blats, rain or dry.
    Perhaps a gravel or muddy country lane.
    Many GR Yaris track users end up modifying their cars into another car, lol...
    The standard GR Yaris vs the circuit/rallye comparison is more than just driving it on a track and disabling esc to expert mode or off.
    Firstly, if it's for road usage only and, especially, if keeping esc on, which many buyers will actually do, whichever spec, the standard's suspension is far better as a daily, especially at slower speeds and on harsher surfaces.
    The torsens spec is dynamically superior at around 8 tenths hard driving, but the standard set up's suspension is better/more comfortable for at least 80% of usage on the road.
    Second, the occasional unladen wheel slip in the open diff's set up is not relevant with decent tyres, keeping esc on and driven in track mode as I do, and there's virtually no intrusion from the esc. It's just rapid and great fun.
    Normal mode is awful and where understeer is likely and wheelspin evident from experience when wet, but that's likely whatever spec.
    Sport mode is where esc is noticeable/slightly intrusive and where disabling it will give you rotation and slip/slide, especially when wet.
    This is where the torsens are actually beneficial on the road or especially on track.
    Third, the 050's are literally like an April fools joke by toyota, encouraging buyers to get the torsens spec for further revenue.
    I've only used asymmetric 5's from collection and now 6's and I've never experienced any understeer. It just digs in and grips.
    Again, on the road, esc on, track mode and with asymmetrics.
    Fourth, for buyers in the uk and some other areas, the standard set up has the option of the convenience pack which adds the extra comforts for daily usage. Totally transforming the daily ambience.
    In Oz you already get similar in both standard and rallye, but lose out on the very useful parking sensors for heated seats and steering wheel, plus your standard car has white stitching vs red in the rallye and all cars in the uk.
    After driving the uk Circuit pack 5 times, 3 before ordering mine and back to back with my uk convenience pack, I'd always favour mine for a road daily.
    If I lived in Oz, I'd still take the standard set up due to it being far more comfortable suspension wise, slightly lighter steering and far less tiring on longer journeys.
    But I'd likely get aftermarket parking sensors fitted 😃
