    I did some very minor things that drastically improved how I felt about my 23 WRX.
    1. Fix your audio EQ - If you don't have the HK system, go immediately into your EQ (hold down tune button) and turn bass up, mid down, treble up (the classic "Rock" EQ preset) or whatever your preferred EQ is. I would also recommend a speaker upgrade in the front doors and dash tweeters, which I'll be doing shortly. Also, try messing with the virtual bass and dynamic beat settings once you're happy with the EQ, as they may improve sound further. And don't forget the SVC control for increasing volume when interior noise goes up when driving.
    2. Wireless Android Auto/Carplay Dongle - No built-in wireless yet. I bought the Motorola AA dongle and it connects very quickly and I can now use an adapter in the 12v port for rapid charging. It's so nice to not have to worry constant disconnects (dealt with this in my last car too) and about putting my phone somewhere where it won't get jostled but also be easily accessible.
    3. Infotainment Update - the update is available, but you have to download it and install it with at least a 16GB USB stick. Fixes the janky climate controls for 1-touch access.
    4. Set your Sirius XM station to 0 so when you start your car, there's no radio playing - Other than turning off your audio every time you get out of the car, I don't know how else to not have the radio playing when you start it back up. So stupid and annoying--I hope I can keep doing this when the trial subscription runs out.
    These little things made hopping in my car when I just need to hop from A to B so much more enjoyable.
    The first major upgrade I will do is likely to the brakes, as they feel spongy, likely starting with SS brake lines, but any recommendation to that is recommended, including if I should just ask the dealership to take a look at it under warranty.

    • @billsanter
      @billsanter Год назад +2

      I can't believe Subaru hasn't upgraded to wireless Android Auto/ Carplay. I use the AA dongle on my 2019 Legacy and it works great. Probably one of the first things I will do on the WRX when I get it. The plug in connection is so cumbersome and often disconnects if the connector moves even a little.

    I think an important, inexpensive mod would be a steering damper lockdown. For $84 it should help correct some of the lack of road feel in the steering that people complain about. I would probably look at upgraded swaybars before doing coilovers. Better bang for your buck for handling and won't make the ride stiffer. I haven't received my WRX yet but these will probably be first on the list.

    I had factionfab 20mm wheels spacers on my 20 wrx premium and after driving for 15k miles. I seen more con than pro. It drop my fuel economy by 3 to 7 mpg and hurt my tires by wearing the inside shoulder faster as well. Only two benefits are better handling and more feed back. I do have a set of factionfab F spec coilover on the car with like around 1 in drop. It is a good daily driver and weekend canyon run set. I do recommend upgrading your VB brake pads to factionfab ceramic pads once you sti swap the car.
    Someone on r/Wrx put a pin stripe across the black plastic, it looks much nicer.

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  Год назад

      If your tires are wearing faster that's a bad or improper alignment. Spacers won't change that. The most wear that you could see is accelerated ball joint wear. But with 20mm is is extremely negligible.
      Have a set if 4 pot brembos that will be going on it here soon 🫣 the stock pads do feel like they loose some bite pretty quick 😅

    • @tungnguyen4074
      @tungnguyen4074 Год назад

      @@Smeedia alignment hurt my brain from time to time, I like playing with it but sometime it just pain.
      I was learning and playing with my car's alignment since I have access to a Hunter alignment machine at school. I remove those spacer and set my camber as close as the current hardware can goes to what the factory want. And currently running without the spacers on, I like the looks and feel but think about the cost to replacing all of the steering components is to much to keep them on. Aftermarket wheels and tires is not an option for me as the dealership I got the car from would give me my first set at 42k if I keep coming back to them for service which they didn't tell me. And also my dad want me to buy the extended warranty because A) it is a subie (I void it anyway but neither my parents or the dealer know) and B) I promise about free tires as well (only for oem wheels)
      Yea, wrx stock brake pads are straight trash. I nearly cause a four cars collision when everyone in my lane decides to go from 80 to 10 on the freeway, luckily there was no one next to me so did a quick whip and avoided it. Surprisingly the car can take it and thanks subie God for the awd system. The only thing I felt from the car were nose dived and the abs firing(I was on my way to school and half asleep). it feel like there is no biting until you depressed the pedal over 50%. That happened two years ago at 8k miles, now I'm at 35600 and I'm happy that I swap over to faction fab ceramic front and rear, much cheaper than oem and no noise, little bit of dust but not that crazy and didn't heat fade even I take it my local touge like road. I'm not sponsor by them or their salesman, I like them for their budget cost yet high quality.

    Front coilover top mount.. the correvt way is to install caster adjustment position...
    Street car doesnt need more than stock csmber -1degree or -2degree max which stock camber bolt capable to do...
    And re-purpose camber platebto be caster plate will give a nother step above in front end grip..
    Cheers 🤘

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  Год назад +1

      I'm still not a firm believer in using the top hat for caster adjustment. While ot can be done. 9/10 people won't be adjusting their camber, and for that other 1 person who actually needs to adjust caster, they're more than likely going to get an actual caster set up
      But like you said. It does work 🫡

    Do you have before and after photos? I know you say you like it so much better after these mods, but I am having a hard time seeing a difference from what is shown in the video. The only difference I can see is the window tint and the grill. I am not seeing any difference from the coilovers and spacers. Before and after side by side would REALLY help.

  • @paulvina1974
    @paulvina1974 Год назад

    I think it needs a little less spacer up front or a little more spacer out back. The rear looks a little further in. The ride height is pretty perfect out of the box and the exhaust sounds great. Not a fan of super dark tint, but everyone has their preferences. I haaaaaaate the grill though. It just looks…budget. Can’t complain for free, but it doesn’t match anything on the car. The OEM JDM grill would be sick

  • @dog_transport_fw

    • @Smeedia

    Remember that you actually want a tad bit of negative camber even for a daily. Not much bit a smidge. If the wheel is a perfect 90*, it wont handle correctly as you will get positive camber mid turn.
