- I must admit I have been listening to the wrong people or perhaps I was prejudiced - when I drove this Subaru WRX (auto) for the first time I had to double-check the brochure to confirm that it was actually running a CVT - and if I have to choose a CVT, this would be the one I would choose.
Even in stock form, it is potent, and would make a great combo car for work during the week and double up as a weekend sporty and fun car.
And if you won't face any resistance from your other half (home minister) because this is a bona fide 4 door sedan, with a boot, and is an auto that she can drive to market too.

To those who wondering, subaru have 2 type of CVT which is TR580 (250nm rating )and TR690 (400nm rating).
This WRX using TR690 and this is far more superior and it used on those high hp model for subaru....
Anyway most of people will still prefer conventional GB..

Totally agree except I will say when speaking about transmissions it's the torque(ft.lbs/nm) amount you have to consider as your limitations..I've had friends who's tuned up to 450 torque and the cvt trans won't last long at that power level only STI manual trans will hold up perpetually. In the US we have the WRX “ts “which is a GT with a manual.
Subaru WRX is one of the most capable cars on the road! Used to own a 2008 5 speed wagon in Canada and it was unbeatable in the rain and snow😊
8:53 yesss happens to me when I drove XV in the super heavy rain and wondering why everyone drive so slow. Until I saw one car almost out of control due to aquaplaning and my car stable je across the puddles.
This is Uncle YS best driving for 2024, fun sliding at multiple corners. maybe the slightly wet road condition made it more entertaining 👍👍

Notice that Uncle Khong seldom checks what are tire makes and models on his Genting run. A good driver indeed let the set of tires adapt to his drive style than having the driver reconciles to the tires.
A good driver adapts to the car's characteristics. Arrogant drivets demamd that tbe car ahould match his driving style.
I ser what the car can do and drive it accordingly, so whayever the tyre may be, doesn't matter - it is whatever that comes with tbe car, and cannot be changed for the drive.
For me, know what the car can do is more important. For eg, no point putting a race spec sticky car to a stock standard MPV as the whole car is not designed to be driven aggresively. It is more like putting a set of tyre based on vehicle spec, driver behaviour and the usage of the vehicle itself

Price wise, same as vw arteon equipped with awd. How does both compare drive wise.
Both are fine except the WRX is a smaller C segment versus D segment for the Arteon.
Latest car today you can save from over torque, skidding, waste HP in a little PS, Brakepad lifespan is longer, fuelconsumptions, etc

Drive both MT and CVT, the MT far more fun and raw. Too bad the MT doesn’t come with adjustable susp and recaro seat the CVT have.
MT is more fun, for sure, but cvt would be a good compromise if you can only have one car, and this cvt is very good.

the problem with subaru boxer that you want to up the performance ,you need to have the proper supportive mod or else it will just blow up as seen too many cases especially in the US, just tune alone won't do wonders but i still give credit on how good subaru has done to the cvt , the new wagon looks like a promising fun family dad car.
I'm from the US and 90% of the cars that blow up are from improper tuning..this new FA24 is much more stout and not as delicate when compared to the EJ 255/257's.. No matter which platform I would highly suggest an Air Oil Separator which has been proven to improve these cars long term reliability and longevity

I wasn't impressed by the CVT on Levorg (1st gen) 2.0T which is now WRX SportsWagon. The car felt heavy and the simulated gears were so fake, also can't get use to the sound of the CVT...
I wasn't impressed by the Direct-Shift CVT on TNGA Corolla either (when it was released in Australia I got to drive it for ~3000km), 1 unique thing though - it has a start gear so it starts like a conventional AT and then transitions to CVT.
Suspension on the soft side?really?.....so camera's ois broken, eh.....
You can go try it out yourself. All the opinions are entirely my own, based on my drivimg feel.😃

Depends on the model and depends on the size of your wallet. Audi RS models are almost of supercar status, whereas this one is more affordable, but still fun.
Theorectically , the subaru awd is relatively more complete or proper awd than the quattro
The quattro is an active awd means can disengage unlike the subaru awd is continuous or always-engage so higher fc
