Here is a much simpler way: I just cut of the edge of Circuit mat. Works perfectly fine!

I just trim off the other mat to match the size of my silhouette. Then you don't have to go thru all that
That only works if you are making something like this card..but if you wanted to cut an offset around the sketched image you would need to cut it :)
