    I was interested in Terial Magic since I saw it at CHA videos and this is a great demo, thank you! The way it cut the tail is impressive. Does Terial Magic was off and maybe then the piece of cloth starts having frills when you don't use the heat and bond..lets say, if you make a flower?

    • @SmittenKitten.
      @SmittenKitten. 3 года назад +1

      Apologies for answering this so many years later, but I'm answering in case someone else wonders. Terial Magic does wash out, and the edges of the fabric will start to fray. However, even if you use something like Heat n Bond (or any kind of stabilizer/fusible), you'll still get fraying when you do raw-edge applique. Using a stabilizer will lessen that fraying, though. I'd suggest sewing around the edge of any applique to both secure it AND stop the fraying. If you can't sew, just be aware that the lifetime of the applique will be lessened. I'm a quilter far more than a Silhouette user, so fabric is my "thing." ;)

    • @Fancylooks
      @Fancylooks 3 года назад +1

      @@SmittenKitten. What an excellent answer, thank you. I never could buy Terial Magic because they don't sell it in Spain and because shipping costs from the USA are terribly expensive, I founda similar product here but haven't tried it jet. We all have many plans to make but a short time to be able to! I appreciate your concise and interesting explanation, it is never late when it is interesting!

    • @SmittenKitten.
      @SmittenKitten. 3 года назад

      @@Fancylooks Oh, wow! Well, thank you! This made my day! I totally understand about project ideas being made, then put away for "later," and "later" becomes years... Haha!
      Another note is that it's a good idea to prewash fabrics that will go on garments that will be washed. Cottons will shrink between 3-5%, which might not sound like a lot, but makes a huge difference when you're doing a small applique. If you don't want to prewash, spray the fabric with a light spritz of water, let it absorb into the fabric for a minute or so, then hit it with a hot iron (I hate prewashing, and just do this).
      If the brand you bought doesn't work the way you like, and you ever need someone to ship you some Terial Magic, I'd be more than willing!
      I hope you're having an amazing weekend!

    • @Fancylooks
      @Fancylooks 3 года назад

      @@SmittenKitten. The idea to substitute prewash is excellent, thank you, you are very good at explaining, did you consider to make videos yourself? I bet you have a lot of experience to share. Thank you for your offer about shipping Terial Magic, some years ago I asked a crafts shop I used to collaborate with if they could import it, but they were not interested because they said that in Spain nobody knows about that product so nobody would buy it, I offered to make videos in exchange to promote it but it didn't happen. Right now I am not making videos about crafts anymore, I had to switch to drawing because those videos work, craft videos got me poor results, so I am even having less time to make craft projects since I have to concentrate on drawing. This is a pity because I really would love to continue sharing crafts.

      @@Fancylooks What a shame!! It's strange how the RUclips algorithm works (or doesn't work, in many cases) as I think people are probably more interested in crafting now more than ever due to the dire situation the world has been under (and continues to be under).
      I have considered making videos, but I'm unsure of SO MANY THINGS! I also have extreme camera-shyness! So that's a problem... Haha!
      I wish I could draw. I can copy pretty well, but I can't create from scratch. I have such an appreciation for people who are able to create things from their mind.

I checked the written tutorial out to find out what cut settings are needed (especially when adding to the thickness with Heat n Bond) on the Cameo 3; then realized maybe it isn't necessary when using the Silhouette Fabric Blade. • @paigegarrison5376

    If I were you, I would not take the heat bond paper off and put it on the mat while cutting the fabric so that the adhesive is not sticking to the mat afterward. I just wondering if its possible to be done this way, after cutting is over, then peel the heat bond paper off last? Is there a reason why you have to remove the paper off? I would still like to know why. I am still researching about which cameo because I want to work around with fabric and leftover fabric as much I can. Big thanks if you have free time to reply. Much appreciated.

  • @eileenburkhardt4617
    @eileenburkhardt4617 6 лет назад

    I've watched this video repeatedly but am still having problems. I notice you cut your fabric much bigger than the zebra - is this because you can't determine where the Cameo will put the cut lines? My cameo seems to be getting the first cut right and subsequent cuts are an inch and a half down towards the bottom of the matt. Is that normal??? Also, had to replace my matt and new matt is super sticky - it is taking off all the heat and bond when I pull the backing off. Did I apply the heat and bond incorrectly?

    • @queenEsther318
      @queenEsther318 3 года назад

      You cut the fabric larger than what you need so it doesn't bunch up if the mat isn't sticky enough. If your mat is pulling off the heat n bond then it sounds like you need to iron it a bit longer. Hope this helps

  • @crafty_capricorn

    Followed instructions, (yes I interfaced/stabilized) silhouette says “registration mark sensor error.” They are turned off in software. Ratchet blade selected and loaded. No media outside of cutting area. Seems like everyone focuses on the interfacing instead of the silhouette process itself. Four hours later and I’m still mystified at how anyone has gotten this to work.

    • @lindaleaven6947

      Registration mark errors drive me nuts. Copy your image to a new file and try cutting from that file.

    • @crafty_capricorn
      @crafty_capricorn 3 года назад

      @@lindaleaven6947 Thanks for the suggestion! Even though this was forever ago, I was curious and dug out my silhouette to give it a try. Unfortunately that did not solve the problem. I even tried a basic square that was a preloaded design in silhouette studio. I also updated to the latest version, triple checked my loading, and nothing works. Still shows registration sensor error. So strange because I’ve done non registration mark designs many times with vinyl and other materials, my machine doesn’t seem to like fabric specifically. Thanks for the suggestion anyway!
