I'm a quilter and fabric knowledge is extremely important. I almost exclusively use 100% cotton fabric. Please be more specific about what fabric you are using and have cut. I believe you said something about sacrificing a towel so I think you mean a flour sack towel? I just received my Cameo 4 (still in the box) and am so excited to play with it!!! TYFS
Yes me too Angela! This is what I am waiting for to see how well it cuts cotton fabric! I do a lot of applique, not interested in felt, nor linen towels..
I noticed you have the autoblade removed. Do you you have to remove it for the rotary blade to work? Also how do you set it up in the send queue. I wished you had showed your setting in the software, so we know where to start.
Hey there! Check out this blog post: www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/2019/11/how-to-use-silhouette-cameo-4-rotary.html If you'd like more in depth tutorials we have premium videos over at Silhouette U silhouetteu.com/pages/silhouette-videos-help
Thought I’d never say this, but the Cricut Maker does an amazing job on fabric that frays. I don’t even have to use backing to get a very clean cut with their rotary blade. Since the Cameo 4 has just been recently released, perhaps a future update can solve the issue.
I have a Maker and just got a cameo 4. I'm not impressed with the Cameo 4 rotary blade according to this video...it's like day and night in the difference. I bought the cameo4 because of the software...I got 6he business bundle. Yes the price was less on the cameo 4 but so far as far as the machine goes I'm not impressed with the clumsiness of the Cameo 4. Truly thinking about sending it back.
Looks a very rough edge to me. I am waiting on delivery of my 4 and a rotary blade but think I will stick to the Autoblade unless it is much better than what you demonstrated on
Usually the raw edges are hidden when sewing b/c they become an inside seam or if you are cutting this for fabric applique it then has the satin stitch around it.
I know that you need to do a software update for the rotary to even show up in tools. I've gotten that far, but I can't figure out the settings needed. "Help Chat" is now closed for the weekend.
I did do the software update before I even got the extra tools - I just wish there were more tutorials/videos that focused on the screen and the software - than the actual machine. I managed to get it to do what I wanted but seriously could have hand cut everything in 1/10th of the time I stuffed around with the software - not really lovin on it at the moment :(
I just bought a Cameo 4 and so far not very pleased with it and doesn't seem to do much more than my 3. I want to cut chip board and balsa wood and so far the Tool 2 doesn't allow that even with the 3mm craft blade. Can you list some of the materials that tool 2 will allow besides thin material and felt. I have the rotary blade and the 3mm craft blade. Thanks so much!
Hi I read your block about the 3mm kraft tool cutting leather, I use leather alot and looking to upgrade from the cameo 3, I don't use my cameo 3 to cut leather but I am wanting to know ur opinion which is best for leather cutting. Cameo 4 or cricut maker? I could see u was having issues cutting with the cameo 4 with leather and my leathers are mainly 2mm to 2.4mm
what settings do you use to cut felt 2 mm? I am trying to cut an inscription but despite doing it away from the edge, it cuts me on top and half off the felt. can you help me?
As a quilter, I'm very interested in how much waste is created when it changes direction. Are you able to cut a square and then sub-cut into a rectangle and two squares or does it cut it all to pieces? Does it cut differently if you have individual lines rather than a closed shape? Right now, as much as I would love to get a machine that can cut a full fat-quarter, I can't see myself moving away from my Cricut Maker until I can sub-cut fabric without wasting space between pieces.
I can't get my rotary blade to work. I'm placing it in carriage 2, I have the squirrely blue cut marks indicating the rotary blade should be activated, but I get the message "INCOMPATIBLE MATERIAL SETTINGS Please select an action that is compatible with Fabric, Thin, Cotton Print, Tool 1. " Am I to understand that the machine is only reading Tool 1? I've taken out blade 1 from the machine. I've complete collapsed Tool 1 options and gone through the selections for Tool 2. I've also screwed the blade holder to expose the rotary blade. Please help!
I am also having the exact same message. Have not gotten the rotary blade or the 3mm kraft blade to work. My machine will not recognize that I have chosen tool 2 no matter what setting/material type that I have set.
@@sewnana1990 I am having to the same problem. I was so excited to get my cameo 4 and now I am thinking about sending it back. I have watched videos and I still can't get it to work correctly.
You'll do better with a stickier mat, but that's not a very good cut at all. As much as I hate Cricut the company, I'm a little "gladder" that I chose it. I was on the fence about my decision, but this helps in validating my choice. It cuts fabric far better.
I think your videos would be so much informative if you were not all over the place. Slow down. We want to learn so slow down. You always seem to be in a rush.
As a newbie I enjoyed learning the purpose of this blade. Thanks for going slowly so that I can really understand its purpose.
Seems like we need more tutorials on cutting fabric and other materials.
Love your videos. But, can you please make them in 1080 instead 360P. Picture quality isn’t great in 360p. Thank you

@@cindymercer2254 I’d be curious too as my Maker cuts cotton so well but if I had a silhouette I’d want to see how it cut cotton first
What are the setting in Silhouette studio? I am going from a two to a four and am not used to the new carriage and auto blades
Never answers questions here? 😩

how did it go?)
Will the rotary cutter fit in the earlier version machines?
No. Only the 4.
Does it cut jersey stretch fabric?
Hey there, check out this blog post: www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/2022/05/how-to-cut-fabric-with-silhouette-cameo.html
A question regarding the cut ... Do you always leave those threads uncut at the edges?
Usually the raw edges are hidden when sewing b/c they become an inside seam or if you are cutting this for
fabric applique it then has the satin stitch around it.
can we use this rotary blade for ref magnet?
I would not think so, but you could try it. I think you need a blade not the rotary for magnet materials.
What settings have you used on the thicker materials? 33 force. Speed 6...
Thank huh for the video. Where do you get the template for the storage side of your cameo?
Could you post a video showing what you are doing in the software - I can't get anything to work and am ready to toss the machine at the wall.

I have a Cameo4, I want to cut flannel fabric bonded with a light weight fusible interfacing. What material setting do I use?
Did u end up trying this?

Hi, My auto blade is not functioning and i was wondering if I could use the rotary blade instead to but vinyl?
Don't use the rotary blade, instead I would suggest the 1mm blade to replace the auto blade. shrsl.com/491em
@@SilhouetteSchool thank you so much
Can it cut faster?
Slow cutting is best for fabric!

Thank you
what settings do you use to cut felt 2 mm? I am trying to cut an inscription but despite doing it away from the edge, it cuts me on top and half off the felt. can you help me?
Isn't that exactly what the premium blade does on the Cameo 3? And isn't the 2mm Kraft blade exactly what the deep cut blade did on the cameo 3?
I think: YES, and the difference is the maximum force 0,5 kg vs. 5 kg that the C4 can achive
I am trying to cut felt and I am getting funky squiggly lines on my design- any idea why?
í have the same problem. what is the setting of felt, acryl? do you know it?
It is supposed to do that. It needs to loop in order to change direction
can you cut the magnet sheets with the cameo 4?
I cut magnetic sheets with my cameo, but I definitely had to play around with the settings.
how do you get the design to not cut the little loops and circles?
Does the rotary blade work with the cameo 3?
It doesn't, sorry.
i'm confused.. does the automatic blade can't do the same thing?
I from Amsterdam that’s what I thought

Has anyone done letters and numbers in acrylic felt ?
Mine wont do nothing Either just got my rotary blade from Swing too Back to hunt some here else!
so, my question is can we cut the same design and material with the AutoBlade?
Doesn’t cameo 4 have built In Rotary blade????????????
hallo, ik zag dat je uit amsterdam komt. ik wil ook vilt snijden maar moet ik daar een aparte mes voor kopen?
I could care less about the sound...if it keeps me from having to cut the fabric with scissors- who cares!
Have you found the cameo 4 is awesome for cutting fabric ? I want to start using it to cut knit fabric? Maybe even some sewing patterns
