Spiritual cousins of the Mennonites and Amish, the Hutterites live simply with austerity. By a way of life that is supremely communal rather than individualistic, the Hutterites have rid themselves of poverty, homicide and anxiety about the future.
    Director:John L. Ruth
Starring: John A. Hostetler, Arnold Hofer, Marvin Riley, Arthur Huseboe

Having worked with a group like this in Canada I have spent the balance of my life wishing I could have stayed and been a life long part of them. The life of the Hutterite is one of the best life’s that any man or woman could have. The conflict and narcissism of the outside world is the best example of why the whole world would be better off living like this. Imagine a world where no man or woman would go to war. No government could force people to do what they unitedly agreed they would not do. It makes an honest government when they realize the people hold the power because they are satisfied to be as they are.

Aren't all humans children of your gracious Heavenly Father? The use of "still" indicates it takes thought to include them in your view of what God finds acceptable even though they are somewhat different that you and the groups you are included in. That's a bit arrogant and condescending. Perhaps you are the one who should be observed and then considered "still" a child of "Heavenly Father" in spite of your way of life.

      @juliesampaio1062 3 года назад +36

Read 1 Kings 19 and Luke 9:28-36 I think it will help you understand where God wants us to stand in this world. You are absolutely right in the fact that yes God is all that matters, this world sucks, and being Christ-like is our calling. But just as we have heard the good news and had our communion restored with God through the blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection, we ought to tell others about God’s grace and faithfulness. Elijah ran away from the sucky world and hid in a cave and God called him out of it because God had work for him in this world. As we are filled with God’s presence, we need to overflow in people’s lives, laying down our lives for them, just as Christ did. Peter, John, and James were taken up to a mountain to pray with Jesus. There they experienced the Glory of God in a way like never before. Their desire was to set up tents and stay there. But God’s presence came down and convicted them that Jesus was His beloved son, who came to accomplish God’s will. They knew that coming down the mountain was necessary, because there was work to do. We are here to do the same. Imagine if Jesus stayed with God and never came down to this sucky world? We would have never have received salvation, our sins wouldn’t have been atoned for. This sucky world needs Jesus and we have the living spirit of God in us. We are the salt and light to the world. We need to proclaim to Gospel. As Jesus himself said, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, until the very end of the age.”
I think it’s absolutely beautiful that these people are living according to God’s word and close to His presence. But I believe Jesus made it clear that the gospel is not to be kept and sheltered, but to be delivered to all the corners of the earth. We ought to live as Christ did, and be an example to the nations. But that also means going and making disciples, reaching out to those around us, because this broken world is desperate for Jesus. “for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!””
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:13-15‬ ‭

I'm from Montana and surrounded by Hutterite colonies here. Worked alongside them, even dated a Hutterite girl. They're mostly solid, hard working people. Like anyone, they have their faults and in these parts they have a very mixed reputation. I think a lot of outside folks have a very whimsical view of them really. Most of them are great, but we've always had to keep a close eye on our things because we've caught them stealing more than once and they'll deny it even while holding our own gear in their hands! We've also had land disputes, damaged equipment, and just all around rude experiences with them.
Some of the colonies tend to be very ruthless as well, and wouldn't stop to help you if your life depended on it.
I see them frequently in town shopping, Walmart and the Chevy dealer are two of their favorites.

Hutterites, what can I say about them. The greatest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting in Canada. Hutterites are what I would describe as the perfect neighbours. They are ALWAYS willing to lend a helping hand to anybody that needs it. My sister teaches at a Hutterite colony in Alberta and she invited me out one day and I thought that they wouldn't; like having a visitor to a colony, but they welcomed me and her class had the sweetest, funniest and outgoing children that I have ever been around. I know that they aren't totally perfect, but they definitely are a group of people that I think every person in the developed world especially, should learn from. They live life very simply, self-sufficient, yet at the same time always working together for their communal benefit. The children are disciplined so they grow up to be respectful and hard-working. Having little technology and a slower pace of life is just such a breath of fresh air and I wish I could do the same. I love the Hutterites.

My husband did a lot of business with the local colonies, and my aunt and uncles were neighbors of a colony. When my husband left the kids and I for another woman, I would come home from work to find several dozen buns, or giant bags of carrots or onions or potatoes on my step. I really appreciated it and it touched me deeply. One day they stopped by with something when I was home. I thanked the elder, who was a Santa bearded sort of looking fellow, I was in my 30's, he took hold of my arm and rubbed it and looked right into my eyes and said, "sometimes a woman needs a little help". I told him nicely, I appreciated the food, but I didn't need any other kind of help. They left, and never dropped off anything again. I was kind of sickened, and heartsick and disappointed. Check out Jesus Job and Abraham!
God can also give us tough assignments to follow through on!
God isn't Santa ! 🎅 Who gives you every good thing that YOU want!

And we know that His love is Eternal and unfailing and He will reward All His Children no matter what they pass through in his world because He SAID that He would Reward Them! It seems that too many Americans have lost their belief in God in order to "worship" money. Our Country is deteriorating fast. Everyone thinks his/her view is the only one that matters. When in reality people need each other and should be celebrating that. It's all competition in Capitalism.and very little community. Every one out for themselves. Take what you want by any means.
It is heartbreaking to live in a society where there is no trust. Where the bullies are allowed to run the Government's. Where there is no equality.
Those who only strive for personal power and material wealth must trade in their soul, their self-respect, integrity and honor. They cannot respect others when they have no respect for themselves. Wanting more and never having enough to satisfy them
Even though in this way of life is so clearly pointless, no matter how much the have there will always be someone or something more that they covet. There can be no happiness or spiritual reward.
I'm so moved by the strength and faith it takes to willingly put the good of all over personal gain. To put God first. The Anabaptist groups, the Amish, Mennonites and Huttorites have this belief in God and community that keeps them separate by choice from the worst inclinations in people.
"In the World, but not of it." Gives satisfaction and meaning to their lives. Morality, Compassion and Honor. Everyone is valued. In a word...Love

Just as I mentioned in a video for the Mennonites, sounds almost a paradise. As trying to be a Christian, it does seem almost right for we are supposely to serve one another. For for God knows why my Tongan brothers and sisters this seems just right.

Watching from Florida, USA in Jan., 2023. What a delightful presentation. Had never heard of these people. Are they still active? I saw this documentary was copy written in 1984.

I saw this and noticed no one has replied, yes, we are still active. Coming from a hutterite herself, I can assure that.

There’s a delightful, wonderful, Hutterite young lady who has a RUclips channel, her name is Giselle Waldner, she gives glimpses of her life as a Hutterite in her colony.

I FINALLY understand my family history now. My paternal 2nd great grandfather built his home in South Dakota by 1887. He was a 7th generation born American.
And my great grandfather and great grandma were married in Keremeos, BC, in 1910, and bought land in Orrville, WA, the same year. My dad's paternal line is entirely Scottish English on his dad side, except for my great grandma's dad who was German. He was the Hutterite. And my Mayflower descendant Scottish ancestors helped them get to Canada. ❤

My husband's parents live only a few miles from the Bon Homme Hutterite colony in Tabor SD. They've gone there for years to purchase farm products.
This is the only Hutterite colony that didn't evacuate to Canada during WW1 (they were persecuted severely for being pacifists and for being overtly German in language and culture).
