Every once in a while you run across a story that touches your soul, this one that brought forth so many emotions sadness, love, friendship and the love of his mother was deeper than any ocean. He had such passion in his stories fully embossed and sunken into the depths of his soul words flowing forth with desperation to the maximum of truth as he saw it.

My feelings changed as the story moved on. I went from thoroughly disliking Mr. Howard to feeling sorry for him, to having actual affection for him. From the moment that woman on the bus started talking, my heart started breaking and the tears started to flow. I was surprised by the fact that the girl didnt start writing until she was retired and that her story was about the time she shared with Bob and that this film is based on that story. It all went full circle and in all her life, she never forgot him .

You know sometimes love is so multi faceted, so complicated. The older I get, the more I just accept that love and loving just has its own compass. At least both Novalyn and Bob stayed true. Death comes to us all. Just as does love- however it manifests. I am so grateful for watching this movie performed by excellent actors. I am gonna look up her book. Writing it at 75 or 76? As the movie was coming to a close, I wanted to know the ending before it played out on my screen. I think the movie followed the biography pretty well. Naturally one has to cram as much into a nearly 2 hour script as a writer can, but the screenwriter managed to succeed in telling the story of the relationship between Bob and Novalyne. I wish I could have met her. She's a person I would have enjoyed knowing. I've known many authors in my lifetime, but Robert E. Howard inspired my brothers as boys and still do to this day. But it's Novalyne who inspires me.

Vincent & Reenee did a great job. They always put themselves in the place of who they portray. Every emotion to be felt & shared is in this movie. It opens our heart & lifts our spirit & converges in our soul. I love this movie because it opens our minds to the way others sees things, we may not be able to see. Much less focus on. Vincent always does a great job regardless of who he plays. His depth of emotions stirs us so we may open our eyes, heart & mind to value what's before us. I felt every emotion one can feel when watching movies like this. It was directed & produced perfectly. Thank you for posting this amazing/reality style movie. It's sad he took his life & left this world w/out completing his writings & prose.
Just because someone has a different outlook on life, & what they believe it should be, doesn't mean it isn't real. Life takes us on an amazing journey as different people come into our life no matter how long it is. I cried off & on throughout this movie. It touched my heart & made me thankful for who I am & how much being in love w/the right person makes a difference. I'm happier than I've ever been since a very special, amazing man came into my life. We're deeply in love. We have a spiritual connection a lot of couples do not have. I compose poetry & people love reading & receiving it. Have an amazing journey & a blessed day. Happy Mother's Day to all mothers. God blessed is w/the gift to give life. It is an honor to be able to bear children w/a man you love.

Very beautifully perceived and written comment. I can relate to finding the love of your life and like in this movie recognizing, accepting, and loving the unique differences and quirkiness in each other. I was in a very traumatic, loveless marriage for twenty five years and when it was over I was absolutely not looking for anyone and wanted to just finish raising my fifteen year old twin daughters. When out of nowhere this bigger than life West Texas rancher who looked and sounded exactly like John Wayne came into our lives and embraced us all with more love and protection than I had ever realized. He was a total alpha male who had been cattle ranching, riding, roping, building, fixing anything, hunting, a total man’s man that could do anything and yet has the most gentle, generous, sweet soul and loved literature, and is also a very good poet. He wrote and recited wonderful poetry. My whole family has been blessed with this incredible person and although I did not actually bear a child with him we raised one of my twin daughter’s baby girl when my daughter became pregnant at 16. My husband and my hero, even though I’m many years younger than he, has seen me through one advanced stage 4 cancer and never left my side and took incredible care of not only me but our three year old adopted granddaughter at the time, and now eight years later after being cured of the first cancer I am once again battling my second stage 4 cancer, this time I have to stay five hours away from my beloved husband because we live in a very remote area of west Texas and I’m undergoing more treatment and the separation is the hardest part of it all. Someday soon I dream of being able to go back home so we can once again be together again. Thank you for sharing your sensitive and very perceptive insights. Many blessings to you !

Rene’s character really broke my heart because she couldn’t see the man apparently until she grew old. What people think is not something one should concern themselves about, and there’s nothing but futility in trying to change someone that shines that brightly. I suppose it could have been the times…The character Bob was authentic, extremely talented, deeply sensitive, and knew who he was…. I think Rene did a spectacular job with this role. They both did. I'm not sure he was mentally ill, just terribly sensitive & in need of emotional support, which he was losing with his mother's impending death. If you read the actual timeline, his relationship with Novalene had ended before she left for college in Louisiana--she did not respond to his last letter. She also totally lacked understanding of the seriousness of his mother's illness (tuberculosis) and the angst he felt. Instead she harped on him about his moustache. I can't help thinking that with a more supportive woman by his side, he would not have ended his life.

Also, it's too easy to label someone (especially a man) mentally ill if he is emotional and/or creative. Writers often get flak for being crazy if they enact parts of their stories or work out the dialogue out loud as he did. Robert Howard was a complex person, deeply into philosophy but also action and exploration, living life to the fullest.

I remember arriving at a death one time, the man had a tattoo on his upper arm, "Born to Die". I lamented greatly, for him and the lack of hope, love, and ultimately faith in God, that should give us all the ultimate reason to live. A life filled with the desire to love, serve others, and a deep knowledge of the purpose God created us for. May we all, foremost, share God's love and the Gospel message. I've seen it save the lost, and brought them from despair, and a true pit of hell on earth, to complete joy and a life worth living!! Pray, love, and live life to the fullest! Beautiful harvest moon . A noticeable full moon. I know something is up when you see this in a movie! Is he still your friend? He sent her a angel.

Sad how her family did not support her thoughts and feelings. He showed signs of abuse early on. His relationship with manipulative mom was weird with a narcissistic tendency.

I could not believe that this movie, being a true masterpiece, did not receive Oscar in every category possible, commencing with Renee and Vincent..
I do hope that I am misinformed.
    P. S. As far as I know, his mother is not accurately portraid, and it's a pitty. Robert was Autistic and relationships with his family was deeply complexed.
But then and again, only someone like Vincent could bring it to us.
