I wish the dialogues while in India were done in Tamil with English subtitles, that makes it a bit more realistic... But tbh I think I like the film, I'm only a few minutes into it
The actors in this are STELLAR! I was overcome with tears twice. Once as Hardy ends his speech and you see the many emotions he goes through as he, in his own way, comes to accept God. The other incredibly well done bit of excellent film-making, is the moment where Hardy pulls Ramanujan into him to prolong that final hug. Such a brief moment!

Superb movie. I have watched a lot of movies (approaching infinity) and this is one of the best! The acting between the two prime characters was just amazing. The scenes seemed to just flow and develop in a very logical way.
Truly, a beautiful film. My field of knowledge doesn’t include mathematics at that level, but I was struck by how dogged humans are to hang onto what we know-especially in the sciences and accademia-and how resistant human nature is against brilliance, particularly when it comes from outside our accepted norms. One remarkable paraphrased quote that struck me was when he said mathematical formulas didn’t make sense to him if he didn’t hear them as the voice of God. Inspiration was not something learned men of those times gave much weight to and, yet, it’s through his inspired formulas that men and women down the time line have gained insights to mysteries such as dark holes and quantum mechanics. What a remarkable Soul.
What a brilliant mind...to have all that knowledge wowwww I cannot even understand how he reached infinity that's genius truly blessings to him from above.
Amazing intuition & also had the unstoppable drive to publish against threats from a gang of academic bullies & thugs. Always need a good friend or two.
That is what was so heartbreaking about this brilliant man's difficult struggle to get through those barbaric men's thick skulls. He died because of the horrible English diet (I have some of that lineage) and that damp weather plus smoke did not help.
You mentioned the word intuition. Other people call it a gift of God... But it realy puzzeled me how all these amazing thoughts came into his head. I cant even understand the most simple part of it.. my brain would burn.....yes who am I? But still...I know intuition ....but this?? Im just curious.....

This movie is brilliant in that it brought a man of brilliant intellect in mathematics but also a spiritual & morally centered & humble man . To the limited extent I studied Mathematics, I agree with the Chinese model's take on Mathematics, which is to say, engaging in and doing Mathematics is an art form; indeed, indispensable to the successful understanding of and applications in and to the sciences and that of life's mechanisms, both natural and divine for which Ramanujan proved a rarefied conduit. Just like Littlewood suggested, he was in Isaac Newton's class. I would venture even farther out and say, Srinivasa Ramanujan's works perhaps exceeded that of Newton.

It is universal. That Knowledge itself is God. One of the great verses in the Vedas is;
"Pragnjanam Brahma"
which menans "Knowledge is God"
❤❤❤
@@harilalmn Thank you. It seems clear that we cannot know more than we are given to know. Do we discover knowledge or is it revealed? It seems that we manipulate and create as only result of what of what we have been given to know. It is frightening to see that self-destruction is probably at the top of the list.

Very true. Your words reminded me of what Sri Paramahamsa Yogananda says in Autobiography of a Yogi;
"War and crime never pay. The billions of dollars that went up in the smoke of explosive nothingness would have been sufficient to have made a new world, one almost free from disease and completely free from poverty. Not an earth of fear, chaos, famine, pestilence, the danse macabre, but one broad land of peace, of prosperity, and of widening knowledge."
What a beautiful and heartfelt movie. A must watch.
What a tear jerker. Great movie, a great life. Gave me chills.
I have a lump in my throat writing this, what an amazing man, a hero a God, WOW just WOW
What a brilliant mind...to have all that knowledge wowwww I cannot even understand how he reached infinity that's genius truly blessings to him from above.
Amazing intuition & also had the unstoppable drive to publish against threats from a gang of academic bullies & thugs. Always need a good friend or two.
That is what was so heartbreaking about this brilliant man's difficult struggle to get through those barbaric men's thick
skulls.
@@gaialina4786 Makes you wonder how many people like this never got recognised, just treated as madmen.
This is my second time watching this movie in same channel after couple of years and I will watch it again after couple of years.❤❤❤..Such a remarkable story !
I’ve read the book by Robert Kanigel. Thank you for posting this wonderful adaptation to the book/real life Ramanujan 🪷 A truly amazing man.
Have now watched 5 times. A wonderful movie about a genius
Aaah... a well chosen prime number of viewings 😊
Such films of individuals need to be made. To have a accurate portrayal Of one's life Which eventually The benefits others And their understanding . Life is but a vapor. It must have been an extreme sacrifice for him To go to England.
Sublime movie!! Worth the watch ! Thoroughly enjoyed it… heck I loved it!! ❤
'It cant be done and especially not by you'. The BEST doctors , physicians and technologists originated jn India and are still treasures of the modern world.
What an arrogant statement.
Outstanding movie ! Subtitles will multiply the audience. Merci et bravo ! (Québec, Canada)
Great for Dev Patel to have portrayed a Great mathematician and FRS, RAMANUJAN
I adore this movie and have watched many times ~ just beyond my words. Thank you ~
Your movie is a noteworthy tribute to one of great souls. Your movie truly moved me to visit the temple and seek blessings of Goddess "Namagiri Thayar" and Lord "Narsimha Swamy" at Namakkal. Thank you
One of the greatest film ever.
This movie is brilliant in that it brought a man of brilliant intellect in mathematics but also a spiritual & morally centered & humble man . Unfortunately because he came from a different culture and had a different skin color the was mistreated . When we start treating others as human beings for their differences & embrace then instead of fearing them and showing hatred towards them. Thanks 21:13 for making Ramajuans work open to the world. Great actors. Dev Patel & Jeremy Irons brought this story alive & maybe we can take something away from this movie on we should treat others as we would want to be treated. Very touching and heartbreaking at times. Regardless of his short life his work will live on . ❤ 18:29
Agree
My grandfather was Ramanujan’s roommate at the Victoria Hostel in Triplicane Madras - both rode bicycles to work by Parry’s Corner - my grandfather to the High Court and Ramanujan to Madras Port. One inaccuracy the movie begins with - Brahmins never wore lungis - it was always white dhotis.
Thank you Soo much for this wonderful historical movie. We are blessed at times with higher souls that guide humanity onwards.
Brave, courageous and loving souls: thank you ❤
i cried 4 times during this. i wanna write alot about Ramanujan but its too long . TO ME HES ONE OF THE BESTEST GREATEST MATHEMATICIAN IVE EVER SEEN. WE WILL SEE HIM ONE DAY WHEN JESUS COME😥💔💔💝💝💝❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

What a beautiful movie. I am a Pakistani but admire the remarkable mind this gentleman had.
To appreciate a man who belonged to India is to appreciate the mind of man even it be of another country that is to applaud education over all. I thank you for it.
dude, you might be pakistani, but we're all one..
Gosh, what your nationality can have to do with admiring a beautiful mind? There's no connection between these two. ☹️
What a moving story. If not for TB, he would have done so much for mathematics. This great man deserves more accolades.
Exceptional movie of an exceptional man❤️
what a movie. i literally cried watching this movie.
Ouainnnnn Ouainnnnn 😢
A true gem . thanks for posting.
Heartbreaking, Memorable, and so poignant.
A moving portrait of a brilliant mind!!
I read this book years ago, and it has remained one of my benchmarks reads. Beautifully written.
Absolutely wonderful. I am a better soul after that infusion of light and information. Thanks for this
So beautiful and uplifting in these turbulent times…thank you …..
RIP Srinivasa Ramanujan (December 22, 1887 - April 26, 1920), aged 32
You will be remembered as a legend.
May he R.I.P!! To a genuine and unique True Genius!!
Truely worth watching. So beautiful and excellent movie. Enjoyed a lot. Truely inspirational. One can learn good lesson from this movie.
His flesh died at 32. His spirit lives on, he proved it, he knew it, God the creator of the Universe is infinite and we in His image, the spirit within us is infinite as well. ♾

Its so sad that Tesla and Ramanujan never met , both came from the same source and lived in a same time frame, Tesla could have helped him greatly and took him in the US..
And then what?
Going to the US somehow would have helped him more?
Are you disregarding Hardy’s efforts?
One of the USA worshipper aren’t you, quit it.
How would Tesla have helped him? He was an engineer, not a mathematician
@@kasajizo8963 Genius intellect transcends dimensions and you’re stuck on professions, for this whole India that couldn’t figure out the genius in him what more would you expect. Two respectable men always are a perfect match for each other.
@@jeannebye8153Chill out I think you're letting your Bias shine through a little bit too much. If Edison in him would have met up. We couldn't know what would happen. However, what often happens when 2 geniuses meet up, especially 2 that share the same character which they did. It usually ends in greatness or tragedy. But never ends in blandness
The desert Southwest might have helped his tuberculosis. There were a lot of people that went out there for that reason. There are a lot of people we wish had met ,that’s true.
Nobody could understand his language until he met up with like-minded mathematicians. Although SME (subject matter experts) in their own right, this was beyond my comprehension. The end lecture at 1:32:05 sums up Ramanujan's brilliance as to his God-given talent. ❤
I love movies like this. They have substance and inspire, which is something we need more of in today's society.
Like, Einstein, Ramanujan was in pursuit of understanding the mind of God. He was like a savant. It is interesting to note that this brilliant man who originated from a primarily non-Christian country, India, was invited to a place called Trinity College, alluding to the Holy Trinity of Christian origin, by an atheist Professor, whom I believe ultimately believed in God. Ramanujan's knowledge was a gift from God, and I believe him. Thank you for posting. 🕆

@@jeanmarie4462 if he was a Savant, he would have realised that Buddhism and Daoism understood all this at a much deeper level.....they know that the secret of the Universe lies in the humility to know nothing, space, emptiness......just read the poetry of Rumi and you too can get an insight into what us true seers perceive.....

I’ve found the unification theory. It’s so scary it has to be forgotten. Humans would kill themselves if they harness the power of unification.
@@riksarkar4343 maybe the movie could be shown in schools to inspire the pupils? India needs to develop and protect it's richness of soul, of culture, its values in a world that is increasingly superficial and tik tok oriented.

Via self education, you have a clear line of communication with the Supreme Intelligence. You have the highest honors & you were chosen.☺️☺️

A great movie .. kept an intriguing interest throughout and completely inspiring .
A magnific Jeremy Irons and an outstanding Toby Jones
And….???Dev Patel!!!
Im astounded by the need to prove anything in this life. Is accepting a gift so difficult? So if I prove to you my gift then you will say I have achieved something? How does that superceed a gift from God? Amazing movie from a simple mind.
How do you know it's a gift from God until you verify that it yields truth? Otherwise you've no basis for knowing if it's a gift... or gibberish.
I loved this movie. What an amazing person, brilliant yet humble. A loving son, a loyal husband, and a true, faithful friend. Exceptional acting to tell this story.
I wonder if people watching this movie and who are not familiar with the study of mathematics truly understand, why Ramanujan's papers weren't ready to be published.
Why wouldn’t they publish ?

He was ahead of times, and without any formal education, that's why.
He himself was very puzzled by his knowledge and said it comes to him from some greater being.
He was simply writing down what he was being sent and he needed himself to understand it.
He was extremely poor and unable to afford even books.
But with a help from someone he got the books and made a progress in understanding the knowledge he possessed.
