@@sappersteel532 Let me take another listen , it's been ages since I heard the Album version. This being the studio recorded album. I have the original album. Live TV version was very impressive after all these years. Never saw it before.
Just about the time that disco & punk rock thought- they killed the hard rock movement of the world, along came The Knack with this song!! If you never heard this song, what planet are you from?? 1 of the biggest guitar songs ever to be recorded, with a killer riff, awesome solo, hard pounding drums, = a timeless classic that will never be forgotten, although they will fall into that class of 1 hit wonders, the song will stand the test of time!!
You can't do a 7-minute extended version o f a song on television because you want to hear the guitar solo. What's wrong with you people? Are you on dope?
A little trivia: The singers brother is Geoffrey Fieger. He was the lawyer for Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the assisted suicide doctor and was also defended Jenny Jones, the former talk show host who had a wrongful death suit against her.
Yeah, go find the one that has the extended guitar solo. They cut this off. When you find it, get back to me and tell me how much better it would have been had they left it in. Thanks Ruth.
@@ruthcarter1360 got it for you Ruth. The most simplistic and melodic solos ever. I would never hire anyone in my band unless they could pull this solo off without a hitch. m.ruclips.net/video/lSro0mCgvpU/видео.html Thank you Ruth. You will be surprised at what you missed!

Wow, thanks for sharing this! The Knack did a little "reality bites" tour around this time. I saw one of these shows at the Belly-Up Tavern in Solana Beach (San Diego), CA. It was a great show. I have always thought The Knack was a very underrated band. Fantastic musicianship! Fieger and Averre also wrote some great pop tunes.
New Zealand is one of the safest and most beautiful places in the world and I'm so privileged to be living here .... I'd say probably the majority of people in New Zealand haven't even seen a sheep in real life 🤔 .... Dairy is New Zealands biggest export.... Cattle milk solids and meat ... All grass fed ...Clean green pristine New Zealand is why our dairy is the best in the world 😎👍 Oh and we play that song in our cover band 😀 Love it❤
This was videoed 25 years after the fact... and they still rocked; and you gotta know 40 years later (now) Sharona still has it goin' on. I hope real estate has done well for her.
Thanks for posting this live performance! Wish they did the full version. I was a huge fan of The Knack but never fully understood, at age 13 when this album came out, what a masterful guitar solo this is. I came across a fascinating interview of Berton Averre, Prescott Niles and the real Sharona! The commentary is in Japanese but the interviews are fantastic, and Niles and Averre talk about the iconic guitar solo! Was wondering if anyone else has seen this? It was uploaded as "My Sharona/The Knack - Berton Averre, Prescott Niles, David Tickle, Sharona Alperin". Rediscovered this song and have it on repeat in the car at max volume. Amazing song! Amazing album! The Knack were an INSANELY talented band ❤
I love this band I heard them when I was a kid at a sub shop when I was skateboarding when I was about 13 and I fell in love with them but I loved it the band has such an awesome sound never heard another band with that kind of sound there just are one-of-a-kind I'm surprised they're not more famous than they are I don't know about the rest of the world but this is the kind of rock and roll slightly Punk that I want to listen to they're freaking awesome definitely deserve more notoriety than they have to me they are classic it is doesn't get any better love it
Kent Roberts, You're right! Bruce Gary was one of the GREATEST drummers of all-time. Too bad he and Doug Fieger had personality conflicts that forced him out of the band.
I guess Bruce never quite forgave Doug Feiger after the way it all fell apart for them in 81. Sadly both of them are passed away. This should have been the band of the 80s!!
This is Billy Ward on drums ... he is an excellent drummer. He is featured in a lot of drummers clinics etc. I was worried when I bought the album without Bruce .. but he actually is very good .. you will not like it but he plays better than Bruce... love Bruce too. Just open minded

It’s said that people were jealous that that were trying to copy Beatles format and they should of taken their time coming up. That’s bs. I say they were on radio all the time and had good albums. People. We’re jealous. Now drummer and rhythm guitarist as Re. Dead and gone. It’s a shame
Doug's voice still sounds the same as in 1979 when My Sharona was first released. R.I.P Doug . Gone too soon❤.
Truly, one of the greatest lead guitar breakes in Rock n roll history. And tv killed it...
And he played it exactly like the album , note for note. Excellent guitarist. A classic lead run.
@@louislamboley9167 No, he played a shortened version of the radio-length version. The album-length would have been 2-3 minutes longer.

The guitar solo was indeed shortened.
