For everyone who's curious Doug Fieger, 25 at the time (the singer) fell in love with a girl from a clothing store named Sharona Alperin, 17 at the time, but they were both in relationships at the time. He broke up with his girlfriend and went after Sharona. They were messing around, although she was still in a relationship. They started dating a while after he wrote a few songs for her; including My Sharona, That's What the Little Girls Do and (She's So) Selfish. They were together for 5 years, but broke up when alcoholism took over Doug. They remained friends. Sharona was with Doug during his last week, when he died of cancer. Also, Doug stated he wrote My Sharona from a 14-year-old boy's perspective.

Cameraman: let me take this terrific shot of the bass player...
the solo also is one of the best solos ive ever heard
Its actually the editors fault because multiple cameras are being used from different angles at the same time.

The people who know the editing equipment very well dont know the music instruments very well.
That tradition continues to this day 🙄
This is my favourite song ever, absolutely love it. My name is Sharon so I consider this to be my song.

Congratulations!

@@dangerawaits_bbx heard that before, not funny the first time.
always liked this song.
This song is probably the best rocking song ever !!! I do not why they unrespectfully cut the guitar solo in this version.. so bad who did that
SWEET! I remember cranking this to the full volume in the 70s!
The one song that got everyone up on the dance floor back then!
This song and "Pop Music" by M set the tone for the punk inspired new wave synthesized music of the 80s.

You forgot the "I was born in the wrong generation"
@@felixt808 IM SHAKING MY BUTTT DANCING!
You forgot the part where he sings about wanting sex with an underage girl.
.and say it was a summer hit back then
❤️ 1970s music, greatest music era ever
Once in a while, I go back to this song! It made me quit my job in Belgium late 90's. To join a Boston grunge band for several years /insane years of recklessness. Met my future wife before moving back to Belgium. Hearing this song makes me wonder how, why music can push you to do amazing stuff?! When I explain this story to my son while we're listening to this! He just shrugs! & say"you are crazy! " (Tim Boston)
I'll never forget hearing this song and seeing the video for the first time . Dec 1979
I remember this song as a kid back in 1979, one of the biggest one hit wonders out there.
good girls dont!
@@markrush5013 exactly. Came here to say, they had TWO hits
They also had "Can't Put a Price on Love" and "That's What the Little Girls Do." Not big hits but did get airplay.
My favorite.@@markrush5013
Same here
one of the most underrated guitar solos ever. I keep coming back to this after all these years.
You must not know who Eddie Van Halen is. 🤔
One of the best entries ever. I love the way the instruments are added. So wild.
oowww my little pretty one.
The Knack a awesome group i remember in 1979, when I was 13.
Definitely tremendous & amazing. One of the best guitar riff never heard.

This is a classic. I can get over this even after 30 years.
Back in 1979 when this song came out, I remember you can listen to the song all day long on the radio, imagine how popular the song was back then.
子供の頃ラジオから流れていました、衝撃でした😮
the Knack was a rock band who wanted something different from the disco shit and did some regular rock , by the way this is a hella dirty song for the late 1970s haha ;)
deepwoodskentuckian what do you know about anything else but rock music
Dick head
This was the beginning of Pop
one of my practice songs as a 70s drummer, but yes, that solo is out of this world.
One of the best rock songs of all time!
Damn straight!
NOPE!!!
They say that this song killed disco
Um
Power pop
This song created an accordion legend
Never really thought of this song as more than a cliché, but sitting down and listening to it, I have to say, what an amazing pair of musicians. Especially the drummer is wild!
Greatest underrated solo in rock history!
kick ass punk rock classic from the knack. a classic and always will be.

This piece is just one of those really rare hits that is ABSOLUTELY Well Ahead of Its TIME!!! It still amazingly holds well today. Love the Knack for that! 😃
I love when people sing this song to me while saying my name ❤🎶
Well i guess you are somebody's Sharona. ☺
Summer of 79 song.
You are correct, sir! And what a summer it was, musically and otherwise.

Hard to believe 1979 was 45 years ago.
@@Martin9476 The year I graduated high school
Oh i thought it was last year! I must be stuck in the 80’s
Got that one right! So much for "look good for my age"...chit its over, get in the box! Im an old guy. Oh well, now I can get fat fart and not care a bit.
Yep, I was in boot camp that year. This was on the radio a lot.
In my 20’s, I dated a girl named Sharona. Every time I picked her up in my car i pressed on my stereo this song came on. At first it was funny by then she got really tired of it. I still remember 😊
Here I am 14 years later ... that guitar solo has always crushed. Sort of reminiscent of Eddie Money's "Two Tickets to Paradise" solo. Technically brilliant, and wonderfully melodic. Rock on.
what do you know?
