- Thanks to some rare footage that their record label released, The Knack's My Sharona is here along with the ultrasound extended mix of the #1 smash from 1979. It is 38 years to the week that I post this, that the song reached pole position in America, and later in Canada and here in Australia. The track has remained one of my all time favourites in the past several decades. It's vibrancy and irrepressible energy have made the power pop classic an enduring masterpiece. The band continued to record and tour but nothing they issued could possibly come close to the stratospheric success that Sharona provided them with. Sadly two of the group's original members Doug Fieger and Bruce Gary are deceased. but the great music lives on. I hope all who see and hear this enjoy it! I own none of the copyright to the images or sounds featured herein, but do proudly possess an enduring love for 'My Sharona' by The Knack.
My dad always complained the critics hated the Knack but we loved them. RIP Dad, Doug and Bruce.

Love love love Gary on drums. He’s what makes this video watchable for me. Love Doug, the guy who came up with the concept of playing kick ass music with the woman he loved in mind. RIP Bruce and Doug. 💕💔

One of favorite songs I played in my cover band. People jumped up screaming when that intro started!!! Miss those days.
Greatest version of one of the greatest songs ever. I remember that summer very well. We spent most of every day at the swimming pool and there was a radio there playing it at least 2-3 times a day that August 1979.

Love the song....esp the extended version....is it my crap wifi (i have crap wifi) or is the drumming, during the solo not exactly on time, and looks like its not keeping up? It just looks out of time compared to the sound?

Great Bass play, yet too bad the Rickenbacker Bass was parked on the stand during this. Drummer has full chops revealed, and crispy Gibson play. Vocals are just right!

That's what I'm saying. I'd love to see the original recording of that. I'm sure it was mixed heavily, but still, I'd love to see it. That's the whole song, for me.
The song itself, as a whole,.is a classic, unforgettable piece of Americana, but the guitar solo is...more than that. It's flirting with all time greatness territory.

Someone else had that idea. Don Caron has recorded parody versions of MANY famous songs from all musical genres aimed at Donald Trump and his right-wing supporters. They are hysterical. And one of them is--you guessed it--"My Carona," misspelled a la Trump from one of his tweets. It rocks out as much as the original but includes many more verses without a repeating refrain--I don't know how he sings all the words so fast--I can't do it even though the lyrics are up on the screen. I like to think Doug Fieger would have enjoyed it. While you're on the website check out some of the other great parodies. Since the 2020 election a particular favorite

Both music and video, which as others have said do not match, sound like remixes and inconsistent at that. Playing 3 stanzas instead of 4.

it was a very early attempt for me at re-editing clips. Can be most tricky. When it works it is bliss....
The extensions are, really, unnecessary. The song was already magnificent enough -- merely repeating portions to stretch out the running time didn't make it better.
