As much as I'd like to see Fenris back, I think it's a lot more likely to see Merrill joining Solas
I actually kind of hate that the writers of the comic sort of co-opted Fenris, made him isolated and bitter about being seperated from the Kirkwall Crew, devalued his relationships with them...all just so they could shove him together with their comic book characters and frame Vaea and company as a much more "happy", "well-adjusted group" who would never "use him" and toss him aside...unlike those terrible people that abandoned him in Kirkwall. It seemed so mean-spirited of the writers and very transparent? They wanted to isolate Fenris so that they could basically "give him" to their comic book characters and have him frolic off with them at the end. Kind of shitty, tbh.
I’ve been playing the Dragon Age games for the first time without even realising Dreadwolf’s reveal is coming soon, would LOVE to see Fenris again because managing to friendmance him as a mage was satisfying 😭
Yes! So many people always talk about rivalmancing him as a mage, but I found friendmancing him as one much more impactful and beautiful - even though my Hawke never hid her sentiments about mages and that they deserve better in her eyes in front of Fenris.
Man I would have adored to friendmance him as a mage but that guy HATED me. At that point , I just gave up and made him hate me more 😍

I could see BioWare doing a situation where fenris might have a small to medium-sized roll in dreadwolf. One that might be replaced by a more generic NPC if he's not alive like what they did with Stroud
Fenris's character is really connected to Tevinter so it would make sense that he comes back in Dreadwolf. To not use the same trope again as the other characters that were suppose to be dead but came back because they were'nt ''really'' dead (or lyrium ghost...) I think they will probably make him appear in a side quest that you can have only if he's alive (Like they did with Zevran) or he would be a side character in a main quest and not have a lot of scenes so they could just remove him from it if he was dead.
Also I think Fenris would never join Solas if he's romancing Hawke, because it would doom every other races other than elves and as he shows in his romance scenes he is pretty protective of Hawke. [He wouldnt also let his old friends die thats for sure].
I don’t believe Fenris would join Solas, regardless of relationship status with Hawke. Varric, Aveline, and Isabela are the closest to Fenris out of the entire friend group outside of Hawke and none of them are elves. He not only has people close to him that he would not want to see die because of the Veil, but Solas is also a mage. While there’s a few exceptions Fenris still hasn’t gotten to the point where he completely accepts mages, and he would never join a mage who is hellbent on destroying the world as he knows it.

In the comic they show Fenris kinda bitter that everyone went their separate ways but whatever anger he has It would never be enough to doom eveyone he cares about. And he doesnt have anything in the world before like Solas does so except for his own benfit (that he would not do) or for every elves, (dont think he cares about elves supremacy) he would not have a reson to join him.
@@chickenwn7 Exactly. There’s no reason for Fenris to ever join Solas. There’s no motive or incentive for Solas to exploit, and Fenris has never subscribed to the belief of Elven superiority.
This hurts me so much... Fenris was my romance option in DA2. I especially loved our dynamic because my Hawke wasn't just a guy, he was a mage, so having Fenris be loved and in a relationship with a mage that actually cares about him challenges his views of mages and shows him that not all of them are the same as the monster who enslaved him, so knowing his heart was left broken afterwards is just sad. I just hope that if you saved Hawke and romanced Fenris, Dreadwolf references them getting back together...
this is my canon too in da2... fenhawke will forever be my favorite pairing in the DA universe and im hoping there will at least be mentions of fenris in dialogue, but more likely we'll see him mentioned in lore we find throughout the game... still would love to see him come back.. imagine how much the fandom would scream about his return even as just an npc.. same for dorian LOL we'd all collectively lose our minds

I hope we get cameos of all prior companions/Major characters that can live/die in the games. DA:D feels like an end-game type scenario like its the final game of the saga before we branch to side stories focusing on smaller aspects of the world. We already got snippets of lore from the wartable missions referencing characters like the warden and I think fenris.
If not then I hope we atleast get more comics/books about them. I wish we get to see our old playable characters with their love interests one last time before the veil comes crashing down, though the warden might not be possible due to age constraints of a race and the blight killing them, wouldn't the Dwarven noble warden be closing on their 60-70s now?
I wish they would remaster the trilogy of dragons age for consoles because I haven't played DA1 and 2, only the 3rd one I've played which was one of my favorite games, sadly I can't play them because I don't have a gaming PC, wish they'd make a remaster or a port before the release of Dreadwolf but it would seem very unlikely.
Each DA game is made on a different engine so it can't be remastered like Mass Effect was unfortunately 😔
All you need is the 360 game. Xbox has backwards compatibility. I have only had an Xbox One and I have played all the games! They are also available on the Xbox store.

Given that we're going to be in tevinter and dealing with slaves, magisters, qunari, and elves, i think we'll see fenris in some capacity in DA4. i also think we'll see or hear about isabela, merril, dorian, morrigan, and sten. i dont think fenris would join solas, but merril would.

😭😭😭😭 My Hawke romanced him and I thought he left him for a small time like, im going somewhere dangerous, but like, maybe weeks or a month, but like 4 YEARS? Wtf 😭 he easily came when Varric called, what's stopping him to be with his lover??? I feel heartbroken :( he's alone, and all the trust they had is lost... Is this really how it ends :'(? I hope not, and if it is they'll meet again in my head in the future 😞
I would be upset if any romance option wasn't given a "happy" ending, but particularly if they leave Fenris angry with Hawke.
I don’t see Fenris being on board with the goals of Solas or being thrilled with how Solas is going about those goals. And then the distrust of magic that is innate to Fenris would play a factor as well. If we see Fenris, it may be him helping the slaves gain their freedom and throwing a wrench perhaps in Solas’s plans.
The only cameo I want in DAD is the Warden (you know who I am talking about). Yes, they CAN die, but most people don't make that choice.

The canon is that the warden died though, it's confirmed in Inquisition that she Died.
@@Citizen_Nappa23 Yes, that is true, BUT if that was chosen by you, the character should show up.
The canon fate of the warden is left up to the player but I don't see them ever returning simply because of the no voice thing.
@@kalaelizabeth An easy solution to this is to have them lose their voice during The Quest that they were on in Inquisition, through some physical or magical injury or even as a result of whatever ritual they were looking for that undoes the warden taint. Then have them use sign language. Bam, easy solution, plus we get signing in the game.
Great video. If they don't bring Fenris back, at least I hope the character creator is so good that I can make my own version of him to play. Another win would be to have a remake of Dragon Age 2 in the future. The story alone deserves it.
There’s nothing exactly to support this, but I hope Dreadwolf feels like a sequel to the DA2 companions like how Inquisition strangely felt like a direct sequel to Origins companions.
Fenris joining Solas seems unlikely because of his arrogance regarding mages and demons. I also don’t think Fenris sees himself as similar to other elves, similar to Sera but for different reasons.

I think that Fenris will either join Solas as a means of destroying the Tevinter Imperium which will free all of the Elves or he’ll fight Solas in a one v one battle seeing how Fenris has a wolf motif and so does Solas. In a sense, Fenris and Solas are like the Yin and Yang seeing how Fenris is the White Wolf of Good and Solas is the Black Wolf of Evil.

It was so hard to complete his romance as a male Hawke mage. But, that's what I did. If he does appear it could be awkward, because then my new player character will absolutely be flirting with Hawke's ex-boyfriend, if its possible.
I have the feeking we will see him in Dreadwolf depending on the world state of course. Fenris has the artifact solas wants and varric knows how to contact fenris and i think (just based on how the other games were) varric will bring fenris to the base with the artifact to try to lure solas in. I know we're going to get new characters but we all know that we're also going to get some old ones too. I know we might get zevran again because antiva was a point of interest, specifically the crows. We also already know we're going to be dealing with qunari so we also might get the arishok (sten from origins). Bull was already confirmed to not be in the next one but theres a huge chance of Dorian coming back. Theres a lot at play and we already know there will be new characters but i think they should always bring back some of the old ones too

Solas is indeed the ultimate magic user. There's no way Fenris would be some ancient magister's puppet; he'd see Solas as the ultimate confirmation that mages have too much power and it's dangerous to the world we know. If he does show up, which I would enjoy, I have to think he'd be an ally.
I do agree Bioware sometimes takes a few too many liberties with the fates of companions, but Fenris was pretty universally beloved in my experience.
I really, really don't want him in this. As much as I love him, I don't want to risk him being ruined and especially NOT to join Solas. He's supposed to be living his HEA with Hawke ☹
I believe the entire entertainment industry including games is crippled by nostalgia outside of brief Easter eggs and cameos. Original and new stuff is vital for something to continue.
I would love to see Fenris again, but only if he is more than a passing "Hi". He has a lot of potential for further character development. If he can be incorporated into the game as a major character or a foil to Solas, then sure bring him back. If it's just for fan service though, forget it. Personally, I'm tired of Varric being in every game. I like Varric but it's time to move on from him already. 2 games with a character is enough. Sadly, it looks like Varric is gonna be in Dreadwolf too. I'd rather it was Fenris or another previous character.
If they would bring back Fenris its almost guaranteed hed join Solas. He hates slavery as much as the Dread Wolf. Would Also be an interesting interaction, if Fenris learned the true elvan lore of the elvan Gods and why Solas is doing what hes doing.
Doubtful. I cannot imagine any scenario where Fenris wouldn’t be horrified by Solas’ plan to bring down the veil.

Fenris is my favorite companion and only romance in DA2. I friendmance him with my mage Garrett every time. I personally cannot see him joining Solas. I like to think him and my Hawke may be nearby....would love to see Fen again but we shall see.
After wtaching I understand Fenris' bitterness, but I am sure Hawk has a very good reason we don't know yet about.

I think for players that killed or let Fenris die he will appear as a spirit or otherwise wraith form. They wouldn't make two comics about a character you could just not meet in the next game

I adore Fenris but since my story with my Hawke is over, I think it's best Fenris stays where he is with his new people. I usually leave Hawke in The Fade so it would just be awful for Fenris to come back. I think maybe it would be cool to see something with Solas but eh, I'm ok just meeting new characters. Except Dorian, I really wanna see him again lol

I am not sure, Elves in DA I are more similar to DA II. Meanwhile elves in Origins looked NOTHING LIKE DA II and therefore DA I. Just look at Merrill and Marethari. They were both in DA Origins and II.

I read that Dreadwolf takes place 10 yrs after Inquisition? If that's true, then there's no chance for previous characters to carry over. Esp true since they lost so many senior DA staff, many who created those beloved characters like Varric. I'm just really concerned about Dreadwolf being consistent with existing lore with all the personnel changes.
I know this is a Fenris vid but what do you think about Calpernia returning? I find it interesting that if you “kill” her in the game she just jumps off the ledge without a body
I'm not sure. A lot of people choose the mage choice over Templar so I know a lot ofnpeople haven't even met her. I don't know if she needs to come back?
@@kalaelizabeth perhaps not I just find it interesting that you have the option to let her go and if you don’t you don’t see her die, it’s very curious. I kinda liked her character because of the way she treated her servants and the fact she wants to improve tevinter.

Is he’s been in Tevinter recently then he’ll probably have an appearance whether physical or spoken. He wouldn’t play a part in the main story I suspect. He’s already moved on and has no real connection to the current plot.
I hope Fenris teams up with Egghead, that way i can kill two rats with one blow.. That is... IF Bioware can pull a magic trick, and actually make a good game. It looks grim though....

Merrill I can see joining Solas if you befriend her. If you rival her, I see her going against him.

Well Fenris did have a big chip on his shoulder, just like Fenrir (and i like myself a little Fenris/Fenrir bromance ;D) , BUT what i don't understand is that from all the races the elves should be the least inclined to work with Solas/Fenrir, simply because HE is the reason for the demise of the elven empire and ALL the sufering that followed. Now he wants to bring the old "gods" back? Restore elves to old power? And the elves simply go yay! and help him? Just doesn't sit right with me.
I never played 2. There was a demo of it along with another game, and I really hated the combat style. So I'm totally lost on that story.
DA2 actually had my favorite combat in the franchise. It's very snappy as a mage specifically.
@@kalaelizabeth That's really interesting. I remember you saying on stream that you weren't a big combat fan. I watched an old video of that demo gameplay and immediately had flashbacks from not being able to beat the tutorial fight. I like to pause and take a more tactical approach and it seemed very fast and arcade-y.
My reflexes are crap though. I can't hit anything in Fallout without VATS. And I abuse the biotics in Mass Effect.
It definitely is more fast paced. I did have an ability that slowed time though so it kind of had a pause lol
Nope. Not liking this comic. Sorry but in what world, unless dying, would Hawke be such a thoughtless brute as to leave Fenris/Merrill alone. I wouldn't do it even on Isabela. Even my magic user Hawke would return looking for Anders. In no way I can imagine any of my Hawke's to dump their love interest. In fact I am pretty sure, my Hawke returned to rejoin Fenris. So they better tweak or rewrite this awful comic. I can't imagine anyone who played DA II to be extremely happy that BioWare is suddenly writing our Hawke as some heartless bastard.
Beyond that DA II was quite clear that Hawke was with love interest. I don't care if comic tries to play devil's advocate. No way Hawke, with how short vs elves humans live, would go on 5 years dumping love interest.
"Finding new family" is insulting implication that players and all characters just dumped Fenris. It's even insulting to imply Varric wouldn't care, heck Varric says he will write letter to Fenris. So he is still in touch with him. So the comic literally goes against Inquisition.
Dragon Age II is only game that made me play through Inquisition and slog through Origins more then once. So to have BioWare insultingly massacrate Hawke .. I literally played Inquisition just to save Hawke. That was it. I mean game was fine with story, but gameplay was some big empty maps with fetchquests nonsense. I don't want to diminish Inquisitor or their crew, but my original goal for going to DA Inquisition was JUST to make sure Hawke has happy ending and not some nonsense dying in Fade.
Combat was okay, but just AI was poorly programmed. Definately NOT for melee users.
Sadly I'm going in to Dragon Age Dreadwolf like I went into Dragon Age 2 yes I played Dragon Age and Dragon Age I but not enough to care unlike Mass Effect I'm not heavy into Dragon Age. Mass Effect 5 I'll play through all Mass Effects Games.
