THE STORY:
Yes. That is the Great Wall of China. No. It's not green screen.
Since ThePianoGuys began, it has been our impossible dream to put a grand piano on the Great Wall. People laughed at us when we said we were determined to do it. It is done. All of us at ThePianoGuys would like to //dediCate\\ this music video to the visionary behind it all and the man whose dream this has always been: Paul Anderson.
It is difficult to detail each of the many miracles that were stitched together in time turning this dream into actuality. Master Oogway, himself, said, "A destiny is not realized until we let go of the illusion of control." To say we made this happen.... Read the rest of the story here: smarturl.it/KungFuPiano

"I have some bad news"
"There are no bad news. Just news"
"Tai Lung has escaped"
"That *is* bad news"
“...if you do not believe the dragon warrior can stop him”
“The panda, master that panda is not the dragon warrior he was never meant to be here, it was a accident.”
There are no accidents
“I know. You said that already... twice.”
Well that was no accident either.
That piano has been where no pianos have gone before.
XD mr.piano you'r lucky you know!
izzAbizz that piano has seen more places then my entire bloodline has
izzAbizz the only place my piano has been in is by the window at my house I kinda feel bad for it 😂
Nancy Xu At least it has seen the stuff happening outside.
izzAbizz Piano finally saw his dream come true
Why do we close our eyes when we pray, cry, kiss or dream? Because the most beautiful things in life are not seen, but felt by the heart.
Hate to be that guy but we close our eyes when we kiss because if we didn't everyone would go cross eyed

The camera person is working as beautifully as the piano guys.
It makes me dizzy, should just hold still

"Yesterday was history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift. That is why we call it the present."
-Master Oogway
that is true. I love this music, that is my favourite!
Master Ogawy
yea you are rite
This saying definitely fits this music
Awesome
"But a peach cannot defeat Tai Lung"
"Maybe It can, if you're willing to guide it, to norture it... To believe in it."

Then the song plays
2:57
Shifu : But how? How? I need your help, master!
Oogway : No, you just need to believe. Promise me, Shifu. Promise me you will believe.
Shifu : I... I will try.
I heard this in the Olympics for figure skating, and I was like ”holy, is that Oogway’s theme I’m hearing??”. Now I realize it actually was. epic
Yes, i came here because of wang shi yue and liu xinyu
Yes! I saw that and recognized this song immediately! Way to go Piano Guys!
I didn't even realize this was his theme until this past weekend.
I know the title to this video was decieving to someone who doesn't watch Kung Fu Panda often enough.
Yep I recognized it too and came straight here.
"Master, you can't leave me!"
-"You must believe."
"Master!!"
If Eastern and Western music met earlier in history, we would have a sh*t ton of good music/tunes
Shen Yun has an orchestra that's mixed Eastern/Western, it's pretty cool!
+Hanyang Lee I still prefer classical solo guzheng, gayageum or geomungo, as much as i like solo cello. Something about these solos in their traditionally intended music are so soothing. ^_^
gbohol ugh I can't choose now, both of them mixed are so good but you're also so right ><
Great minds would definitely make great music.
so true
I love that China’s Ice Dance team, Wang Shiyue and Liu Xinyu used this song for their Free Dance routine this year and performed it at the Olympics. The moment I heard the piano’s opening measures while watching the team competition event I freaked out and said, “Holy cow! This is the Piano Guys’ arrangement!”
Now after watching them for the second time tonight during the Ice Dance medal competition (and knowing what was coming) I could truly appreciate both the song and the routine that they built around it. Wang Shiyue and Liu Xinyu truly did it justice and I hope the Piano Guys are proud of making this arrangement so beautiful for cello and piano and that they did it so well that someone used it for competition at the Olympics!
I was thinking this exact same thing! It was a pleasant surprise to see it performed at the Olympics.
Is there a place I can watch it?
Or perhaps a link?
Ok, now I desperately need a How To Train Your Dragon score from these guys.
Thebenmix 11 yesss
Thebenmix 11 I agree 1000000%
Totally agree
A thousand times yes
Please?!?!
That guy managed to make his Cello sound like a freaking Er Hu. How is that even possible??
Also, they brought a piano onto the Great Wall of freaking China. I'm done.
Mel Sunday SAME
Mel Sunday They did an amazing job re-composing the music. I am a huge classical mucis lover and I think this is one of the best ones I ve heard
I know, isn't that crazy but still amazing !!!
Let's all remember who really got that piano onto the Great Wall of China. (Studio C)
JoDAWG Animations BEST RESPONSE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am I the only one who noticed that these guys basically bought the Great Wall of China for like an hour😂😂😂
They probably rehearsed there too so i'm guessing it was reserved for longer. Impressive cover though!
:l
it's a bit longer than you think...
I asked the same question to my Chinese dad. He said it's most likely that they rented a part of the wall that visitors don't usually go to anyway. The Great Wall of China is 5,500 miles long. There's a lot of wall for everyone over there.
Won't Tell hmm that a hole load of Po (get it po Kung fu panda but poo
Your song made it to the 2022 Winter Olympics! Congratulations!!
I just realized the dramatic chords are from Chopin's Prelude Op. 28 No. 20. I love how these guys incorporate classical music into their own :)
i was about to write this comment, good observation
Yes one of the most magical Chopin work
De hecho mi hermana está estudiando para su examen auditivo de lic en musica (piano) y escuché la pieza y le digo: esa rola la conozco jajaja es de piano guys 😅

it's kung fu panda theme
As a Chinese, I can say they made a pretty good Chinese style in this MV.
Never knew Mr. Bean was such a mean cellist.
Heh
his not mr bean
What is with all the stupid 'Mr Bean' comments on THIS video. He looks nothing like Rowan Atkinson, does nothing silly in the video, and PianoGuys have hundreds of other videos with no 'Mr Bean' comments. It's just weird.

I think of Kung Fu Panda 2 when i hear this, most notably the moment Po is remembering his mother and how she gave her life for him as a baby. Waaaay deeper movie than i thought it would be.
Yeah that is one of the best animated movies I've watched
Joanna VelezTrue dat, my friend... ;-; It's so sad...
Joanna Velez This is the same song that plays in Kung Fu Panda when Po is receiving the Dragon Scroll... And you're right, it's also the same song that plays when he's finding inner peace in Kung Fu Panda 2! [mind blown]
Joanna Velez Time to go rewatch both movies...

"They did not know it was impossible, so they did it"! Mark Twain
Never realized the Chopin prelude was incorporated into the piece. It's really a beautiful touch.
It’s crazy to hear this in the winter Olympic Beijing 2022 figure skating
as Chinese I must say I love it... I can feel my country through the music ... thank you
@AARAV PRITESH Where is Kung Fu Panda set? The film music is meant to be in the style of Chinese music. In the original song 'Oogway ascends', an erhu (a chinese instrument) plays the solo, so the original music written by Hans Zimmer is in fact 'Chinese' style.
Way to go Dreamworks too
@Guy Who's not gay xd you are so funny bro
A song written by white guys from a movie written by white guys perforned by white guys. I honestly dont know if im critizing or not. Its just ironic. It does feel chinese though, cant argue with that.

this song always makes me cry from how winding it is. it's almost heart wrenching and sorrowful yet beautiful all the same.
This song makes me shit
Such sweet sorrow
Lol
hermosa llo la bailo en el vallet
+Crem2057 yes, heart wrenching to hear it have to finish.
Anyone just hear this song in the Beijing 2022 Olympics?? A Chinese ice dancing team just performed to it!
As a ballerina I actually danced to this song and it was just amazing feeling the music flow through you as you glide along the stage. I wish more dancers or dance companies would use their music for shows.
Exactly. As it's meant to be portrayed flow with it
It's amazing how close they got the cello to sounding like an er hu (chinese violin) and gu zheng (chinese harp)!
Well they said in the description that there were Asian percussion's playing in the video.
Well If I remember well, after the video before this one, Steve broke his black electric cello. And after they tried to fix it, they realized that even though the original sound was lost, it was pretty heu... Oriental-sounding... So they decided to go along with it ^^
He's playing an electric cello. He can put a lot of different filters on it to make it sound really like anything he wants to.
+Natsu La Smileuse You are thinking about Steve's steel cello. It broke during the Lord of the Rings shoot and the sounds that it now made were used to create sounds heard in Dont you Worry Child. They called it the Sitello - a cross between the Sitar and the Cello :)
Rayden Vaughan Music Ah thanks! I knew I had gotten something wrong but couldn't find where they talked about it
This really makes me want to buy a plane ticket, fly to China, travel to the great wall, and try to race the sun as it was rising while listening to this song.
Awesomely put! Same here :D
Why, thank you. :)
The Great Wall now, too many tourists, there will be no video on this kind of artistic conception, believe me
I watched this before and forgot the title so instead i searched for epic cello and piano gameplay on china wall
it worked.
Lol It actually does xD
Six years ago I whached this and
Today chopin's Prelude 28 nº 20 bring me here
Why does 2:57 always make me want to cry? I come back almost every year... I can't even begin to fully appreciate your work, it's just incredible. Hats off to you 👏
Edit: well 3:51 also
and the rest of the song :)
@@Violetparrot780 mainly these parts or like 0:38 because thats the bit Oogwayn a haze of peach blossoms, ascended to the heavens. It made me tear up because I thought I'd never get too see him ever again.
You are right, 🎶💕
I fully agree with you on 2:57, actually from 2:52 to 3:02. It sounds like tragedy. Like someone had a fleeting moment of hope only for it to be ripped away. Or that's what it sounds like to me at least.
I just love how passionate they look while playing, some how it calms me
They are very good entertainers and that passion is part of it.
Classical music triumphs all, the lack of words adds to the imagination and depth
this isn't classical....
i never said it was, and yes it isn't classical music in the casual sense however the instruments and the fact it has no words reminded me of a lot of classical music
So cool to hear this song used at the 2022 Olympics for China ice dancing pair!
The piano keys are black and white but they sound like a million colors in your mind. ♥️🎹

There's a difference between Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) and Steve Nelson (the cello guy). :)
FluidMinecrafting yup , it was a joke tho
Still listening to this 6 years later, calmed my mind in 6th grade
I just love how you can see that passion and emotion that they put into the music...it's something incredible
But, seriously, how in the world did you manage to actually get the piano on the wall?!!!!

How the hell did he make the cello sound like an Erhu?
Special chello made in China with an extra string that makes it sound like that.
+Peh Yu Xiang (LinkInMinecraft) He was using an electric cello to achieve that sound... beautiful
+Xiang (Fortehlolz) He has a 5 stringed electric cello, and being an electric cello their must be some way to filter it into an erhu sound. The electric cello actually looks nothing like an erhu, not to mention that erhus play completely differently then cellos do, AND only have 2 strings. Heck when you translate the suffix of the word "hu" it turns out that it can be translated to be "two" as in two strings.
I would love to know what software he did use to change an electric cello into an erhu thing.
because it is an electronic cello you could make sound like drums if you wanted to
Sure, I would love to know what software though. I have looked for a bit and cant find one
This has to be my FAVORITE composition by the Piano Guys!!! I have seen your play this live in concert several times and listened to this song hundreds of times. It never gets old!! My happy song!
I have listened to this so many times over the years that I have every note memorized, yet it still makes me spill hot tears after all these years. Something so sad yet beautiful about this one, a masterpiece.
As a Chinese I'd say this is genius. And there're 5 strings on that electric cello?! Amazing
If Chinese people can build Great Wall, there is no doubt they can get a grand piano up there.
lol yeah
+Sure as hell not with the same technology!
let me tell you i am a chinese. A long time ago they bulit great wall to defend enemiesto attack them as great wall is high

This is one of the most beautiful songs that I have ever heard. The brilliant composition created by the Piano Guys is amazing.
One of my favorite songs from a movie ever. I will not lie I cried like a toddler during the scene. Truly beautiful.
am i the only one that thinks that 2:53 is the best part
That's the climax of the song/chorus; it's beautiful ^ ^

The smile these guys have when they play never gets old, always infectious as hell
Ill never not come back to this. Hans Zimmer has created some of the most beautiful music (for an animated kids movie no less) and these guys flawlessly put their own spin on it

This is among my favorite pieces of music done by Pianoguys. This music is the work of masters.
Not many people apreciate the kung fu panda score because its from a cheesy kids film, but really its one of my favourite soundtracks and a great work of hans zimmer's
Yeh Zimmer is a legend
You'd probably like man of steel soundtrack as well then

How can they find such a quite spot in the Great Wall??????????? Man they must be powerful ppl with talents.
They're like there rich. They could go anywhere and it seems like they're celebrities.
+Justin Huang The Great Wall of China is really really relly long it's easy to find an empty spot just avoid the tourist groups which are usually at the front or 'gateway' sections of the wall

Exactly oogway ascends is supposed to be sad, and relaxing, but why did they add in a battling feeling? It doesn't fit yo the culture, song, or any part, but they did hit notes right and it sounded great :)
When you get into the second part of the song it's just like a chase scene or a man leaving his family and dies going to war. ;(

I ll never forget seeing you guys in concert in Atlanta several years ago. You were mesmerizing! Hope to see you in another concert!
This is so beautiful! Adding this to my writing playlist.
You can only access the wall by foot. You can't just take a scooter up there or something, meaning they CARRIED their instruments up there.
They used a crane
Nah, there's trees and forest around, and the ground isn't flat. A crane wouldn't be able to approach.
It was a helicopter, you can see behind the scenes
Oh, cool! And thanks for the info, I was really starting to imagine an army of hired help carrying the stuff up there. I've walked on the Great Wall, and it would've been quite a feat.
I don't know why but I've always imagined myself traversing the great wall of china on a Segway. Of course, that would be impossible, but hey, it's fun to think of such possibilities :D
Imagination is limitless, feel free to explore what you've got!
