  • Hey guys, I'll show you how to install a Haltech GaugeART Multi-function Gauge into my 2001 Nissan S15 Spec S.
    This multi-function gauge is a fantastic way of displaying a heap of information in a small form factor which is exactly what I wanted for my car. A nice clean interior where I can see the important information such as oil pressure, oil temperature, water temp and boost without having four different gauges throughout the cabin.
    When I purchased the car I was surprised to learn that the previous owner had installed a Haltech Platinum Sport ECU. After seeing my buddy Dan's AE86's with one of these gauges installed, I was impressed with the simple yet efficient means of displaying data.
    The next question was where to mount it. Spec R's came from the factory with a boost gauge mounted in a pillar pod and I decided that it was the best way for me to mount the gauge whilst still retaining a nice OEM looking interior. Lets call it OEM+ hey?
    I'm really happy with how the gauge looks and functions and apart from the cost.. it is quite expensive. There may be some cheaper alternatives out there so maybe do some research before pulling the trigger. The next best option would be one of the full electronic dash's available these days (Haltech IQ3 or IC7 for example) but I thought it overkill for this vehicle.
    Let me know what you guys think of the install.
    Thanks for watching,
    Pierson

    I am so glad I purchased a brand new gauge $611 lol
    I’m also picking up a haltech elite 1500 on Tuesday!
    I’m planning on grabbing their NTK WB1 for my AFR
    Also you can get vent gauges holders that you can still feel the AC with which is what I purchased

    Hey man, great vid. I'm debating about replacing my 4 defi's on my S15 with one of these as well(i got all the sensors wired to haltech so no issues there) however i feel like the numbers will be pretty hard to read when you have the 4 value view. What are your thoughts about it ? Are you able to read them clearly when you are driving? Thanks

      Hey man! Thanks for the kind words. I don’t have any issues reading the gauge with 4 values on it but I’m only using it for non critical values like temps. A quick glance and I can read it easy even in bright conditions. I might do 2 glances to take in all 4 values .. but there’s no issues seeing them. If you needed a gauge for track days etc where you are distracted and stuff the defi’s would be better as they have alarms etc?
      I’m happy with my setup but they will be less clear then defi’s? Digital makes them easy to read.
      Hope that helps?

    I was considering Defi gauges in the vents, my aircon only blows onto the windscreen. So I wouldn't lose any convenience anyway :) but this option is nice and neat. Many people say that it is much harder to read digital gauges(while driving) rather than analog ones. What do you think?

      I do like defi gauges - expensive but nice! True.. but would you never consider fixing your aircon so that it blows through all the vents?
      I have not had any issues reading them so far but the numbers on my gauge (when showing 4 values) are quite small.. very clear but small. That's the hardest part maybe? I'll be mostly relying on my alarm's to notify me anyways (when driving hard, I don't have time to look at gauges).

    Hey mate. Just wondering how much and where did you grab the whole pod pillar for? You've inspired me to get one now! Cheers and keep up the videos bud.

      Hey mate! The pod pillar was $220 from JDM Kamikaze. They can be had a little bit cheaper but it made it easy to source and it was in perfect condition.

    Hey mate, I’m currently doing this exact set up but don’t have the wiring for the gauge, did you buy the wiring itself from somewhere that plugs from gauge to the ecu? And which adapter is that you bought? I can’t seem to find it

    • @PiersonWillis
      @PiersonWillis  2 года назад

      Hey mate, I bought it from Haltech's website under the 'CAN Adaptors Hubs and Cables' section. You should be able to find what you need there. The adapter part number is HT-130032.

    what did that red/orange wire do? did you end up connecting it to anything?

    • @PiersonWillis
      @PiersonWillis  10 месяцев назад

      I never connected it. My guess is that it dim's or brightens the gauge based on whether or not your headlights are on or off.

    How were you able to connect to the gauge to set it up? I've tried connecting on my pixel2 , 7 pro iPhone 10, 13 ipad2 nothing wants to work......$600 down the drain

    Hello I have the same one , for a z32 with dual widebands and platinum pro ECU. Dual widebands were connected with white cable the hub #2 and the can gauge to hub#3, black cable. ECU # 1, black cable. For some rason, gauge is not reading info from the ECU. I left the resistor installed, not sure if that could be the reason? ECU sw will not show the "enable gauge diplay" in devices options.

      Not sure sorry mate, I think these can be used without a Haltech ECU but you'd have to work out how sorry. Maybe contact Haltech directly? :)
