Thanks for sharing your review! Looking forward to hearing the feedback from your viewers. Just some key points that might be overlooked at first glance:
    - Depth of data we can pull is VCDS/Manufacturer level which differentiates most other basic OBD2 devices on the market.
    - Other devices on the market may be able to display but the ability to feed back data to the driver is key - customise your display, colours, & set custom min and max warnings. Log without the need for a secondary device.
    - Has an additional 4 Analog and 2 Digital inputs so it can act as a hub for your third party sensors.
    - Future expandability - haldex control, boost controller, Water Meth Controller.
    - We will take the pricing feedback to heart. With recent changes to the exchange rate and maunufaturing optimizations we look to pass on some savings to the retail consumers in the new year. In the meantime we continue to work on adding more functionality to the device to improve the value proposition.
We welcome all feedback and are happy to answer any questions your viewers might have.

Nope, nope, nope, nope, and...NOPE! Definitely not worth the money. I understand why it's expensive as it is, simply because of its limited marketability being a rare 'boutique' item. That said it is a great piece of engineering with excellent functionality and upgradeability. And as always Charles you detailed its installation in an excellent manner.
But what really grinds my gears, and you alluded to it at 12:38, is VW should be building this level of functionality right its infotainment system from the factory, especially for the amount of money that VW is asking for the GTI MK 7.5, 8, and Golf Rs. I my opinion it's just another sad example of car manufacturers offering too little for too much money. I suspect VW will be offering subscription services for performance and functionary shortly, much like how Mercedes and BMW are subjecting us to now.
Now excuse me - I need to go outside and shake my fist at some clouds! Cheers Charles!

$700 is a tough sell for a street car when you can get a ODB2 dongle and get more data for like $30 to $100 using Torque Pro on your phone. Not to mention having an aftermarket gauge during a traffic stop immediately results getting the hood popped up and checked for non-engineered modifications around these parts.

The install for the Vektortech display involves a bit more work, but I don’t have to plug it into my OBD port since it plugs into the CAN gateway. I’m running a P3 gauge as well, since I got that first. But I’m able to use both at the same time and when I’m coding or tuning it, I can switch the Vektortech display to diagnostics mode and just unplug my P3 gauge. Only dislikes about the Vektortech was the install, no air vents like the HPA, and the English translation isn’t the best, but gets better with each update haha. 😅. Both are pricey, but I love that I’m able to monitor temps, and more with the gauge. 🍻

    Hey Charles,
Could you give me some ideas as to what may be going on with my golf r?
Say, going 70mph and giving the car 50% throttle, the dsg downshifts and there is a bang/clunk noise that can be felt on the floorboard.
The car accelerates fine, and the noise isn't heard all the time. From a standstill there is no noise.

I don’t understand why everyone loves putting these in the vents. I wish they would make them for other locations.

  • @JacesOwnWorld
    @JacesOwnWorld Год назад

The answer is simply NO. Reasons why are:
    1. It takes away the one vent for the driver that important.
    2. The screen is small for the amount of info it offers. Too much info in a small package.
    3. It’s difficult to read the readings as the print is too small.
    4. The coloring scale looks like it was made in the 80’s.
    5. It has so much pointless information, which is more for marketing purposes to get sales, rather than having it for useful information.
I have chosen not to buy one because of these reasons. But my first and fifth reasons were my deciding factors. Before you say “well then you wouldn’t know…” blah blah blah, yes I would know because I had a P1 gauge in my E46 M3, which is essentially the same thing as this, and it sucked for the same reasons. I run two aftermarket gauges on my MK7 GTI. A boost and an AFR gauge. Those are literally the only two gauges you need. Everything else on this gauge is purely for marketing purposes. If you want those other readings, you can get an OBD2 or Cobb AP, which is way more useful.

  • @americansmark

The obvious answer is no. You spend a lot of money and lose an air vent. A scangauge does the same thing and can mount on the windshield or an A-pillar pod (for most vehicles).
But if you want the OEM look, I get it. I'm not that concerned with factory appearance. I mean, I have a big carbon fiber ducktail wing on my rwd Mercedes, so I can't even pretend to be about OEM.

Adding a device with these characteristics is only useful for a professional mechanic, it won't help the owner of the vehicle because first of all he won't know how to use it and second, it's another distraction along with the multi-media screen, in my opinion it is a waste of money and a risk while driving the vehicle.
